The Kestrel

    The Player Characters in General

Cacophony: Well, dear, let me say you are looking at the best group in town!
Jylliana: Meeeeeehhhh?

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/aelgifu_5.png
The Jem Jammer ladies at the beginning. From left to right - Jylliana, Cacophony, and Aelfgifu. Image by Canary Witch.

  • An Adventurer Is You: Played with. They joke at the beginning that they have a pretty off-kilter party composition, but Kit designs encounters around their strengths and has no plans to put them in an unwinnable situation. They don't really have a tank, but Cacophony is the Status Effect Guy, Aelfgifu and Artie are Melee DPS, and Jylliana is the Jack-Of-All Trades with a focus on healing.
  • Badass Crew: Especially alongside the rest of the Kestrel crew, but even on their own the four act as ground troops against sinister nobles, evil priests, and monstrous space creatures.
  • Beauty, Brains, and Brawn: You've got Cacophony (and later Artie) for Beauty, Jylliana for Brains, and Aelfgifu for Brawn.
  • Big, Thin, Short Trio: In order: Jylliana, Cacophony, and Nap Squad (Aelfgifu and Artie).
  • Four-Temperament Ensemble: After Artie joins the party he takes Choleric, Jylliana is Melancholic, Aelfgifu is Phlegmatic, and Cacophony is Sanguine.
  • Power Trio: In the initial three Jyll is Ego, Aelfgifu is Superego, and Cacophony is Id. Artie's arrival and Aelfgifu's personality shift shook things up, as seen above.

    Aelfgifu

Aelfgifu

Race: Human Sorcerer (Starheart)
Class: Revised Ranger (Hunter)/Warlock (Pact of the Archfey)

A Human Ranger, still figuring out this whole "talking to people" thing. Played by Vicki originally, and later Alexi Peppers.

  • Berserk Button: The first time the party hears her swear a lot is when she goes fishing and the fish steals her bait.
  • Better with Non-Human Company: She much prefers animals (or dead plants) to other people.
  • Celestial Body: [[spoiler: The revelation that she's a Starheart means this - her heart is a portal to the Plane of Radiance.
  • Cloud Cuckoo Lander: It started with her avoiding people as much as she could, but after her stint in the Feywild she became much more comfortable showing her energetic and impulsive side, doing things like trying to befriend a chicken and stealing a book from a library because it looks cool.
  • Commuting on a Bus: Her magic ring ends up sending her back and forth to the Feywild seemingly at random, resulting in her missing for an episode. This was initially established to help accommodate Vicki's health issues, and kept when Alexi is unable to attend a session due to work conflicts.
    • Put on a Bus: Ultimately Alexi had to leave the podcast on a more permanent extent, so Aelfgifu leaves with Kieran to train and discover her own destiny.
  • Finger Poke of Doom: After gaining access to Eldritch Blast, Aelfgifu casts it by doing finger guns.
  • Forest Ranger: She grew up in the woods and has a preference for that environment and the animals that live there, and fights interchangably with both her bow and her daggers.
  • Happily Adopted: She had a nice life raised by a half-elven man in the woods after she was orphaned as an infant.
  • The Lost Lenore: Aelfgifu is a little torn up that she failed to save her Corpse Flower Boyfriend from Castle Kronos. Though it's mostly Played for Laughs. The more serious one is her adoptive father Greyson, whose death prompted her to venture into the wider world.
  • Meaningful Name: She was brought to Greyson by elves who found her in the wreckage of a caravan, hence her name which translates into "elf gift".
  • Orphan's Ordeal: She never had to deal with it as a child, since she was given to her adoptive father as an infant. However, after he father passes and she's been on an adventure a few weeks, she discovers there might be something deeper to her origins. Initially she thinks Greyson may have been a retired space cop, but things become more mysterious when while he was a normal guy, she was given to him by Captain Nevaris.
  • No Social Skills: Being raised in the woods, Aelfgifu doesn't know much about the world and gets caught off guard by a lot of aspects of society.
  • Parental Substitute: Ælfgifu was raised by a man in the woods after her parents were killed in an ambush.
  • Tyke Bomb: Nevaris bred her to be a starheart that he could use against the World Eater, hoping she'd become a living bomb to destroy it. Fortunately for her, Greyson raised her as his daughter and did everything he could to keep her safe.
  • Written-In Infirmity: Due to Vicky's heavy schedule over the summer of 2019, Aelfgifu had to sit some sessions out. She was sick in the first part of The Fallen Jammer, and later on spends several episodes popping in and out of her own plane due to the Ring of Flight she pilfered from Krynnspace. When she returns more regularly, she's played by Alexi.
  • Wake Up Fighting: Aelfgifu sleeps with her swords. It's a practice she got accustomed to after living in the woods for so long.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: She was afraid of ghosts and skellingtons for a while because her weapons didn't do much damage against them. She gets better once she takes more levels in Warlock and can blast magic from her hands.
  • Younger Than They Look: Aelfgifu is in the area of 18 to 25 (maybe, the old man had to guess when he found her) but looks several years older. It's a combination of living in the woods and getting stuck in the Feywild for a while.

    Jylliana

Jylliana ("Jyll")

Race: Protection Aasimar
Class: Cleric (Tempest Domain)

An Aasimar Tempest Cleric who's spent most of her life serving at the Temple of Ethla. She's slowly been venturing out into the wider world wants to spread the good news of Ethla and do good in the universe. Played by Annie.

  • Berserk Button: Jyll brings some Tranquil Fury when Thazita suggests Ethla, and all gods for that matter, are just extraplanar beings scamming mortals. But she becomes furious when she finds out Aelfgifu stole a book from the Seeker's Library.
Jyll: I just got a library card for a library that spans the entire material plane, you will not take this from me!
  • Have You Seen My God?: Being too far away from her homeworld messes with her connection to Ethla, as well as her cleric spells. Fortunately, the connection between her and Ethla is stabilized by the end of The Fallen Jammer, possibly due to how the gods work in Krynnspace.
  • How Do I Shot Web?: Jylliana eventually gains the ability to manifest celestial wings, but making them appear on cue isn't very easy.
  • Humongous-Headed Hammer: She wields a large hammer in battle.
  • Insistent Terminology: She's a priestess, not a nun, they have completely different vows!
  • Motor Mouth: She can talk a lot when she really gets going, especially when she's having a particularly anxious moment.
  • No Social Skills: A different flavour from Aelfgifu—while Jyll knows how society works, she was still pretty secluded in the temple and isn't used to interacting with other people. She gets especially awkward around people she's attracted to.
  • Obliviously Beautiful: Because of her anxiety, she never assumed or picked up on anyone being attracted to her. She's floored when Lachlan assumes she's highly experienced with relationships on account of her assertiveness, beauty, and being a naturally good kisser.
  • Oblivious to Love: She was so busy worrying about whether Lachlan liked her that she missed all the times he was obviously flirting with her.
  • Religious Bruiser: She's very faithful to Ethla and can pack quite a punch herself.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: She nearly leaves the Kestrel crew after realizing that being off-world messes with her connection to Ethla. It takes a greater threat and the World-Eater's forces attacking Ethla's temple in Stormhaven to encourage her to stay on the ship.
  • Shock and Awe: As a tempest cleric she can utilize thunder and lightning spells, and eventually infuse thunder damage into her melee attacks as well.
  • Team Mom: Jylliana has a very matronly energy around the party, mostly in terms of reigning them in, but also comforting them when their distress reaches a certain point. It also includes parading Aelfgifu around the ship on an apology tour when they accidentally almost blow the ship up.
  • Token Religious Teammate: Not just because she's a cleric - her devotion to Ethla is a key aspect of her character that stands out in comparison to her teammates.
  • Traumatic Haircut: She recounts a story from her childhood to Artie where she flaunted her white Aasimar hair to everyone else (along with being insufferable about her new abilities), so the nuns put gum in her hair. It taught her a lesson in humility and now she's promised to never cut it again. That being said, while she has pride in her hair, she's also learned that if she had to cut it all off again it wouldn't change who she is.
  • Wrong Context Magic: Jyll finds that some of her cleric spells don't work, or don't work well, while on Port Meridian. She's told that the distance from her homeworld also puts a lot of distance between her and Ethla, and many clerics have trouble when going too far from their deities. Fortunately, the connection between her and Ethla is stabilized by the end of The Fallen Jammer.

    Cacophony

Cacophony/Xilwyn Petriss ("Wyn")

Race: Eladrin
Class: Bard (College of Glamour)/Rogue (Mastermind)

An Eladrin Glamour Bard who loves absolutely anything dramatic or shiny. She's also the alter-ego of Xilwyn, an elven con-artist who created her in order to take down a noblewoman who was threatening her family. As Wyn she who helps the ship with negotiations and low-key missions, but as Cacophony she joins the rest of the party in fighting the various baddies they come across. Played by Maq.

  • Big-Breast Pride: Maq is sure to mention Cacophony's giant bosom when first describing her. It's often shown off whenever Cacophony is out and about.
  • Do Not Call Me "Paul": Wyn and Cacophony are different people. She doesn't like being referred to one identity when she's clearly the other, otherwise her cover could be compromised. Once the party is used to this they'll actually discuss which persona would be better for the situation they're walking into - while they both have access to all the characters abilities, Xilwyn has a better composure to use rogue stuff and Cacophony is more comfortable using the bard stuff.
  • Ear Ache: Xilwyn got part of her ear bitten off when a scam went wrong.
  • Has a Type: While she's shown attraction to basically any woman, she seems particularly enamoured with dragonborn and lizardfolk - she has a delightful tryst with Chastity in Providence Bay, starts dating Thazita after the events of Harena, and crushing on another dragonborn on Biancarda is what prompts her to ask Thazita the "what are we" question.
  • Honey Trap: Cacophony's persona was made to woo a noblewoman who was extorting a small town. That's why Wyn never returns home as Cacophony; the noblewoman is still around and is seeking revenge.
  • It's Not You, It's My Enemies: Not even Wilwyn's family knows that she and Cacophony are the same person, and episode 104 reveals that she's scared that Olivette could draw a connection between the two and put her family at risk.
  • Ladykiller in Love: She fell for Thazita over the course of a week, which she knows isn't a lot but is a lot compared to her usual flings that only last a single night or day. Jyll points out that Wyn was concerned enough about Thazita's feelings that she needed to check with her about having an open relationship (and a relationship at all), which points to the feelings being stronger than normal.
  • Large Ham: Everything Cacophony does seems to be devoted to chewing the scenery or helping her friends - the latter of which usually also involves chewing the scenery.
  • Lipstick Lesbian: Cacophony is glamorous, fabulous, and exclusively attracted to women. Xilwyn is less ostentatious, but no less gay.
  • Loves My Alter Ego: Platonic example: her brother Killian is obsessed with Cacophony the same way one might be obsessed with Barbra Streisand.
  • Massive Numbered Siblings: Wyn has six siblings, three older and three younger. It must run in the family, since her elder sibling Bridge has ten kids of their own.
  • Navel-Deep Neckline: Cacophony often wears outfits with a very deep V to show off her ample bosom.
  • Non-Action Guy: Wyn has access to all of Cacophony's weapons and abilities, but she's not great at them and doesn't like getting involved anyway. Though she's at least better at tactics, whereas Cacophony will stand directly next to a dangerous monster if it looks dramatic.
  • Power Tattoo: The "Mom" Dagger. It's a tattoo of a dagger with a scroll reading "Mom" wrapped around it, but it can become a real dagger in Cacophony/Xilwyn's hands with a snap of her fingers. It can also reappear in her hands with a snap after being thrown.
  • Really 700 Years Old: She's 347, but she's also an elf so that skews the scale a little.
  • Royal Rapier: Her weapon of choice.
  • Sad Clown: Episode 104 reveals that beneath Cacophony's hamminess, Wyn has been relying on her to hide her terror at the possibility that Olivette will murder her family if she ever finds out Cacophony is Wyn.

    Arturos

Arturos ("Artie")

Race: Triton
Class: Fighter (Battlemaster)

A triton who also works for Captain Rhydion. He accompanies Max and the others on their mission. Played by guest Rio during the time Vicki couldn't make regular sessions, and later upgraded to main cast.

  • Agent Peacock: Flashy, dramatic, obsessed with his appearance, infamously prettier than all his sisters, and was already a great fighter before he got an arm cannon.
  • The Alcoholic: He was when the party found him, but has stopped mainly because their adventures have made it hard for him to get a hold of liquor.
  • Arm Cannon: He obtains one after the events of Castle Kronos. It's called a "Tank Top".
  • Casanova Wannabe: He's convinced he's everyone's friend and irresistible to those he pursues. He doesn't realize that most people find him oddly off-putting.
  • Faking the Dead: Xilwin helps recruit a member of The Cinders to fake his death so that the assassins hired by his homeworld would be thrown of the scent.
  • Fish out of Water: Puns aside, he's still not used to the customs of surface worlds (like building things out of wood or using fire to stay warm). Partly because he's spent most of his time out of the water drunk instead of paying attention, partly because he's not that smart.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: He believes that everyone is his friend, despite the fact that even his closest associates find him annoying, he's often left behind on missions, and the reason he joins the crew of the Kestrel is because Rhydian hands him over as part of their payment for helping him.
  • King Incognito: He's technically the king of his people, but he never wanted to be. After being told he had gotten the position he immediately fled his sphere and has been hopping from spelljammer to spelljammer in order to avoid his responsibilities.
  • Literal-Minded: He tends to take metaphors at face value, especially if they involve something involving the sea (or anything that sounds like it's related to the see).
  • Long-Haired Pretty Boy: Very long, bright red hair that makes him stand out even moreso than other tritons. He's very attached to it and, for a while, is convinced it's what makes him the most attractive out of all his siblings.
  • Massive Numbered Siblings: He hasn't elaborated beyond "more than seven". He's also the only boy and the prettiest.
  • More Teeth than the Osmond Family: He naturally has a large toothy grin, but he tends to keep it concealed because he knows mammals find it uncomfortable. When he's fighting vampires, though, he happily bares his maw.
  • Promotion to Opening Titles: Initially meant to be a guest, after it became clear that Vicki would not be returning to the podcast Rio was made a main cast member.
  • Prongs of Poseidon: Wields a trident.
  • Sixth Ranger: Joins the party after they've already had a few space missions.
  • Stripperific: He's very scantily clad for a fighter, and the only reason he's not endangered in battle is because what clothing he does wear has good stats. He still keeps his tits out, though.
  • Traumatic Haircut: He gets most of his hair chopped off to act as proof of death when trying to fake it. He's very attached to it, which is why it's something that theoretically wouldn't have been removed while he was alive.
  • Uriah Gambit: Max is pretty sure that Rhydion insisted on Artie joining him and the party in the hopes that he'd get killed.

    Lachlan

Lachlan

Race: Half-orc
Class: Druid

Hailing from Sharn in Eberron, he joins the crew as a helmsman and quartermaster after they leave Port Meridian. Later becomes romantically entangled with Jylliana. Played by Anna Emmaline starting with episode 96.

  • Ascended Extra: He was only meant to be another crew member, but a combination of him being exactly Annie's type and the artwork Rio drew for him being "too hot" caused him to become Jyll's main love interest.
  • First Snow: He knows of snow, but growing up winter was more of a wet season/dry season situation. When they stopover in Stormhaven during winter,
  • Genius Bruiser: He's the quartermaster, so in his words he's a professional nerd, handling inventory and taxes for the ship. He's also very muscular and, while he doesn't usually take part in fights, he's quite capable.
  • Morphic Resonance: His wildshape forms are a little greenish, and have small tusks.
  • Oblivious to Love: Lachlan has no idea when anybody has a crush on him. The only reason he figures out Jylliana is attracted to him is because Tuatha yelled it at him. Later it's revealed he's picked up on Jyll's attraction, but thinks it's all physical and doesn't want to get involved because he wants a relationship. He's happy when he finds out that no, Jyll is just very awkward.
  • Prefers Going Barefoot: He doesn't like wearing shoes, even when it's rather cold out. To the point where he's more willing to cast Barkskin over just his feet than put shoes on.

    Crew of the Kestrel

Captain Estelar Nevaris

Race: Human
Class: Cleric

The Kestrel's former captain until his death prior to the campaign. Much of the story is spent trying to decode his notes and track down the threat he was trying to stop.

  • Ambiguously Evil: While the crew is following his research into the World Eater Cult, the discovery that his notes on Natalia being a starheart were akin to blackmail makes Jyll and the others wonder if he was up to something less savoury. When Jyll asks about him, Finn admits that Nevaris was "shady as fuck".
  • Cassandra Truth: He discovered evidence that the World Eater cult was a growing threat, but every time he tried to alert the Elven Navy they dismissed his claims. Before he died he was trying to bring together various other disparate factions in Wildspace in order to stand against them.
  • Hidden Agenda Hero: He pursued his goals without any of the crew knowing what they were doing beyond the locations they visited.
  • Posthumous Character: He dies at the start of the series, but his past exploits are what drive much of the plot as the characters try to follow the same leads he did in order to stop the World Eater cult.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: He found a weapon to defeat the World Eater years ago. It was Aelfgifu. His refusal to see her as a life worth saving (he called her a bomb) was so intense that it pushed Greyson to act against him in order to save her.

Captain Alanna Bondar

Race: Human
Class: Fighter (Gunslinger)

The captain of the Kestrel, succeeding the position after the death of Captain Nevaris.

  • GMPC: Kit controls her during the episodes of The Fallen Jammer where Alan is GM.
  • Deadpan Snarker: She quickly familiarizes herself with the antics of her new crewmembers, and answers all of it with the driest wit she can.
  • The Gunslinger: Fights with pistols.
  • Rank Up: Became captain of the Kestrel after the death of Captain Nevaris.

Mr. Eustace Elizabeth Hurst

Race: Giff
Class: None

The first mate of the Kestrel, a perpetually jolly giff (hippo-man).

  • GMPC: Kit controls him during the Castle Kronos arc.
  • Embarrassing Middle Name: "Elizabeth", but subverted in that he doesn't mind at all.
  • Gentle Giant: He's huge, and very kind. His hobbies include whittling and building card houses.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: He doesn't technically have a class, even when Kit played him during Castle Kronos. Instead he uses modified NPC stats from Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes both to grant him the giff's traditional magic resistance, and to account for the fact that he can, should, must, and will headbutt anything he doesn't like the look of.
  • Use Your Head: As a giff, he's able to use a powerful headbutt against foes as a melee attack.

Finn

Race: Kobold
Class: Little Guy (Cook)

The ship's cook, a lively and deaf Kobold from Toril.

  • Improbable Weapon User: Though he's yet to see combat, when he suspects the party has been turned into vampires he prepares to give them a whoopin' with his big spoon.
  • Sign Language: Uses this to communicate. He's been known to get distracted while doing it after particularly good manicure sessions because his nails get so shiny.
  • Team Chef: He's the cook for the Kestrel.

Kara

Race: Human
Class: Sorcerer

A crew member who joins after the ship leaves Port Meridian. She regularly pilots the ship, though the crew still takes turns.

  • Hates Everyone Equally: Lachlan describes her as this. She certainly isn't fond of anyone it seems, and Jyll's attempt to win her over only seems to moderately work.
  • Hidden Disdain Reveal: Eventually tells Jyll that she doesn't like her because, between having a cabin next to hers and hearing most of her conversations when she's piloting, Kara is constantly bombarded by Jyll's angst over Lachlan and Max.
  • Mysterious Past: She was involved with pirates at some point, and knows a lot about the darker side of space.
  • Screw This, I'm Out of Here!: Though she never follows through, she's quite clear about abandoning the crow if at any point it looks like the ship is going down.

Veli

Race: Unspecified plant person

A plant-person who joins the Kestrel crew after they leave Port Meridian. Later joins the rest of the party for Smutty Book Club.

  • Cloudcuckoolander: They are described as rather gregarious, but sometimes will say weird stuff and then walk away.
Maq: They just mysteriously show up, are Veli, and leave! We don't wanna ruin the enigma, we're scared to!
  • Non-Humans Lack Attributes: Veli usually wears little to no clothing because she's a plant person, so she usually isn't bothered by it. When she goes out she'll wear a cloak just so she doesn't get asked needless questions.
  • Plant Person: Of a non-specified homebrew species which uses the Needle Blight statblock with extra hit dice.
  • Spikes of Doom: She has a needle attack.
  • The Stoic: They rarely say anything (and when they do it's usually odd). Cacophony once spent a whole night with her clubbing and didn't learn a thing about her.

Dewey

Race: Construct

Dewey is your card-cataloguing robot friend! He was rescued from Castle Kronos by the party and now helps them organize their periodicals and smutty books.

  • Token Good Teammate: Even among the Castle Kronos minions, who are all punch clock villains, Dewey stands out by not even being a potential threat to the party. He's only in the castle to run the library.

Other Planets and Locations

    Aesheim
A planet in Stormspace and the homeworld of Stormhaven, starting city of Jylliana, Aelgfifu, and Cacophony. The populace doesn't know anything about the worlds beyond the stars.

Ariadne Westbrook

Race: Human
Class: Artificer (UA Alchemist)

A merchant and Artificer who runs Westbrook Curiosities. She buys, sells, and crafts items for her clients.

  • Gadgeteer Genius: She built Miss Kitty herself, and as an Artificer she's able to make both gadgets and potions.
  • Omnidisciplinary Scientist: She can build machines, brew potions, and tailor clothes for anyone who's willing to pay.
  • Only Shop in Town: Not that Stormhaven's a small city, but Ariadne runs the only shop in town. Which means if you piss her off, she'll probably hold it against you.

Miss Kitty

Race: Construct

The mechanical octopus who helps Ariadne in her shop and in battle.

  • Combat Tentacles: And robotic to boot! They also help with fetching items from the shelves.
  • Killer Robot: She slips into this sometimes, namely to get rid of unwanted customers or invading Draconians.
  • Robot Maid: Her primary function is to help Ariadne keep the store tidy and stock shelves.

Greyson

Race: Human

Aelfgifu's adoptive father, who's sudden passing prompted her to finally explore the wider world.

  • Loophole Abuse: The Geas Nevaris put on him forced him to keep Aelfgifu alive and not go against Nevaris directly - but it didn't prevent Greyson for loving Aelfgifu and raising her with as normal a childhood as he could.
  • Papa Wolf: He was very protective of Aelfgifu, both of the wider world and her own antics. This gains clarity when it's revealed that Aelfgifu was meant to be a weapon and Greyson just wanted her to live a normal life.
  • Posthumous Character: He dies in Aelfgifu's backstory, but through assorted flashbacks and Aelfgifu's stories we learn a little more about him.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: For most of the story he's known as the man who raised Aelfgifu before passing away. However, later revelations also reveal that he directly contacted the Neogi Death Spider to attack The Kestrel, hoping they would kill Nevaris and keep Aelfgifu safe. Not only did this come to pass, but it also lead to Aelfgifu, Jylliana, and Cacophony becoming a proper party and venturing into Wildspace themselves.
  • Thanatos Gambit: Greyson knew that actively bringing harm to Nevaris would cause him to die from his Geas, but he also knew he wouldn't be able to hold him off should he come for Aeflgifu. So he called on the most dangerous thing he could think of - the Neogi - to ambush and kill Nevaris before his plans came to fruition.

Mother Sylvia

Race: Human
Class: Cleric

The Mother Superior of the Ethlan Temple in Stormhaven, who advises her through her religious qualms during her adventures.

  • High Priest: At least for Stormhaven, she's the leader of the Ethlans and is turned to when Jylliana needs theological answers.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Despite being an imposing figure to Jylliana growing up, she was quite measured in any punishments he had to hand out (which weren't often) and is happy to help Jyll with anything troubling her both personally and theologically.
  • So Proud of You: Jyll usually seeks her out to ensure she's on the right path, and Sylvia helps her realize that she is. She also approves of Lachlan.

Ethla

Race: Celestial

The goddess Jylliana serves.

  • Deity of Human Origin: Ethla originated as a martyr who fell while defending a fishing village from a tyrant, but was worshipped by her followers in death and ascended to godhood. The fishing village would become Stormhaven, and the site of her death became their first temple.
  • God of Thunder: She's a storm goddess.
  • Mama Bear: Motherhood is an important part of her domain and her following. Jylliana interprets it as a mother who gives her children strength to help defend themselves and others.

The Petriss Family

Race: Eladrin

Wyn's family. Mother Megwen, father Sidoril, older sister Merethyl, older sibling Bridge, older brother Sevalor, younger sister Filauriel, and younger brothers' Rori and Kerillian ("Killian").

  • Bomb-Throwing Anarchists: Megwen and Sidoril were anti-monarchist revolutionaries in their 160s, and helped overthrow a king who used to rule their land centuries earlier.
  • Goth: Filauriel is one, described as keeping a wardrobe that's only black and specific shades of blood-red.
  • Inept Mage: Filauriel has this reputation - when she offers to demonstrate some spells she's learned, the familiar hurry her outside in case something goes wrong. It probably doesn't help that her wand is held together with duct tape.
  • Massive Numbered Siblings: Bridge and their spouse Hattie have ten kids.
  • My Beloved Smother: Megwen can be rather overbearing at times, but Wyn learns to appreciate it since she really does tend to have her childrens' best interests at heart.
  • Open-Minded Parent: Megwen and Sidoril are very understanding about their kids experimenting with gender, relationships, and elf weed (though Megwen thinks Rori has terrible taste in the latter). They're also fully supportive of Xilwyn being Cacophony, since they've taken part in their own rebellions in their youth.
  • Really 700 Years Old: Just like all elves. Bridge's kids are in their 30s, which is equivalent to a 5 year old for human development. Killian is 54, analogous to 15. Filauriel grouses about Wyn treating her like a baby reven though she "just" turned 200.

    Port Meridian
A space station built around an asteroid where the Kestrel stops for repairs.

Grak

Race: Dohwar
Class: Warlock (Pact of the Hexblade)

A Dohwar who partners with the crew on Port Meridian to recover the stone he wished to get for his Lady Love Laplume. Played by guest Rio.

  • Guest-Star Party Member: He's played by Rio, appearing several episodes before their regular character Artie. During the Biancarda arc, they play both at once.
  • Hand Cannon: In addition to his magic rock, he also has a Glock.
  • Hawaiian-Shirted Tourist: He's wearing the equivalent when the party meet him on Port Meridian. Later it turns out that's just his normal fashion, and also his only article of clothing.
  • Improbable Weapon User: As a Hexblade, his warlock powers are channelled through his weapon. Said weapon is a "magic rock". That he keeps in his fanny pack. When the group next meet him on Biancarda, he can now turn the rock into random household appliances when he throws it at people.
  • Tiny Guy, Huge Girl: With Lady Laplume.
  • Ugly Guy, Hot Wife: His Lady Love Laplume is Countess Aguilar, a gorgeous secretary bird-like Aaracockra. He is a penguin with creepy fingers.

    Krynnspace
A world with many notable gods. It is here that the Jemjammer cast met the cast of The Fallen Gods. For more on those characters, head to their own page.

    Providence Bay
A pirate planet in Tidespace ruled by Captain Rhydion after he reclaimed it from the Elven navy. It's just as glitzy and glamorous as his ruler.

High Captain Rhydion Blackjammer

Race: Human

The dramatic pirate captain who rules Port Providence, and one of the seven great pirate lords of space.

  • Klingon Promotion: He definitely killed his father and the man his father declared the new blood heir in order to become High Captain.

Maximillian Lucius Regulus Vulkaren, Crown Prince of the Vodoni Commonwealth

Race: Vodoni
Class: Rogue (Swashbuckler)

A handsome lycanthrope swashbuckler who catches Jylliana's eye. He also works for Captain Ridian.

  • The Friend Nobody Likes: He's this to the Kestrel. He's technically an ally to their cause, but he left on bad terms and the only person who likes him without any caveats is Artie.
  • The Gadfly: He intentionally flirted with both Jylliana and Lachlan to mess with them, which doesn't endear anyone on the crew to him.

  • Arc Villain: Of the Castle Kronos arc, naturally.
  • Bad Boss: His underlings don't like him very much, since he keeps them trapped in the castle and curses them to follow his orders.
  • Eye Beams: A given, since he's a beholder.
  • For the Evulz: He has no greater aspirations beyond torturing and capturing adventurers who make their way to his castle.
  • Large Ham: He can project announcements throughout the entire castle and usually does so as dramtically as possible, right down to capping a message off by saying the words "thriller eyes" out loud.
  • Load-Bearing Boss: The castle begins collapsing as soon as he dies.

Mathilde

Race: Medusa

A medusa trapped in the castle who's duty is to petrify adventurers. She's grown bored, however, and only does so if they request it. She spends her time reading smutty romance novels and pining for the Forgemaster.

  • Mercy Kill: She offers this to adventurers since she's never seen anyone actually stand a chance against Lord Kronos.
  • Taken for Granite: Naturally, as a medusa.

The Forgemaster

A firey man who guards one of Kronos' puzzle gems and has made other mechanisms for the castle. He also has a crush on Mathilde, and gifted her with Gravel the Gorgon.

  • Playing with Fire: He has inherent fire abilities.

The Blood Queen/ Sharon Blüd

Caralon Thazita

Race: Dragonborn
Class: Wizard

An archaeologist who works for the Seekers, she got a pass from the Elven Navy to research into the Nameless Tomb.

  • Hot Librarian: She's a librarian who immediately attracts Cacophony's attention and ends up starting a long-distance relationship with her.
  • Innocently Insensitive: She offends Jyll when she says that Ethalnism is "a cult", and claims gods are more trouble than they're worth.
  • Magic Librarian: She's a librarian and a wizard.
  • Nerd Glasses: She's rather nerdy, what with her passion for books and history, and is also bespectacled.

Kieran

Race: Elf
Class: Ranger

A member of the Star Wardens, a secretive order dedicated to fighting evil throughout the material plane.

  • Big Damn Heroes: Him and Seerka swoop in to save the party and help them stay on the Fallen Priest's tail at the last moment.
  • Luke, I Might Be Your Father: One-sided. Aelfgifu believes that, since he knew her adoptive father, he might be her birth father, or uncle, or some other relative. After he denies this she still insists on referring to him as suncle (sand uncle).
  • Mountain Man: He's more at home away from society, and when the party first finds him he was sleeping underneath the sand.
  • Rude Hero, Nice Sidekick: Not necessarily rude, but he's far less sociable than Seerka.

Seerka

A flying serpent who's Kieran's best friend and partner.

  • Bond Creature: She's Kieran's partner and friend in the Star Wardens.
  • Feathered Serpent: She looks like a very large one.

  • Expy: Of Washi from Aggretsuko.
  • Incidental Villain: She cares about the innocent lives of Senagora and doesn't want Tornincasa's actions to lead to more deaths, but she's also a criminal mastermind who wants to protect her assets just as much.
  • Ugly Guy, Hot Wife: She's a tall, gorgeous secretary bird Aaracockra engaged to...Grak.
  • The Queenpin: She runs a criminal organization known as The Flock.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: While never done onscreen, she tells Jylliana in no uncertain terms that she'll let the party die if it furthers her plans to take out Tornincasa

Countess Lucrezia Tornincasa

Race: Human/Vampire

  • Arc Villain: Of the Biancarda arc.
  • Aristocrats Are Evil: She's a countess literally bleeding her city dry.
  • Charm Person: Comes with the territory of being a vampire.
  • Faux Affably Evil: She's very civil and measured in her speech, even when she announces her intention to kill and turn her rivals on the council.
  • Immortality: Her main reason for becoming a vampire. Specifically, her willingness to become undead in order to skirt death allowed the World Eater to enter her mind and change her in return for her service.
  • Kill the Poor: Her plan was to turn other nobles and then feed on the lower class. Capatain Bondar and Jylliana agree that that's rather symbolic and unsubtle.
  • Vampiric Draining: Like other vampires she regains health and deals necrotic damage when biting people, and also reduces their maximum hit points.
  • Weakened by the Light: Like most vampires she's weakened by bright natural light and radiant damage. Natalia is able to permanently kill her by dealing enough of the latter while she's immersed in the former.

Captain Segreti

Race: Human
Class: Wizard

Countess Tornincasa's best friend, and the pilot of her spelljammer the Breathless Vigour.

  • Childhood Friend Romance: Heavily implied between her and Tornincasa, as she was a servant in their home and Tornincasa financed her education. When she dies she is still referred to as her friend, and even then the party has their doubts.
  • Playing with Fire: She can unleash a fireball on her foes.
  • Glass Cannon: She's a very powerful wizard, to the point that the party decide she needs to be dealt with before the Countess. But when Tornincasa Manor burns down, she soon dies from her wounds.

Natalia Cervantes

Race: Human (Starheart)
Class: Sorcerer

The last remaining member of the Cervantes family and shipping company, she's in Aguilar's debt and has as much of a grudge against Tornincasa as everyone else. She also knew Captain Nevaris.

  • An Ice Person: She tends to use ice spells in her magic.
  • Celestial Body: She was born in Wildspace, which left a star (rather a miniscule portal to the Plane of Radiance) in place of her heart. It gives her extraordinary magical powers, but also makes her perfect for powering a lifejammer ship.
  • Sole Survivor: She was the only survivor of a pirate attack on her family's ship, which also makes her the last member of her family.

Lasmo, Grab, and Wilhelm

Race: Space Tortle, Warforged, Kenku

  • Flaming Sword: Grab's S.W.I.T.C.H.Blade can burst into flame.
  • One Last Job: Lasmo and Grab are old and ready to retire after this.
  • Retirony: Lasmo says quite often how she's working on her last day and ready to retire, with Alexi fully expecting her to die by the end. She almost does after getting chomped by a lot of vampires, but the rest of the party is able to get her a potion of Greater Restoration.
  • Speaks in Shout-Outs: Wilhelm, as a Kenku, can only say phrases and noises it's heard before. Most of this takes the form of quotes from movies.
  • Stock Scream: The Kenku's name is the Wilhelm Scream. Not "Wilhelm Scream", but the literal sound of the Wilhelm Scream. They still call it Wilhelm for ease.

    Iolara

Atra

Race: Lizardfolk
Class: Cleric

A lizardfolk woman who's guarding the eggs in the Furnace from various undead forces.

  • Bad with the Bone: She wields a mace that appears to be made out of a human skull.
  • Blunt "No": Goes hand in hand with her stoicism. She doesn't bother with any pleasantries whatsoever.
  • Clap Your Hands If You Believe: Atra is a cleric who doesn't worship a deity. As she explains to Jylliana, she gains her powers from her steadfast belief in the necessity of her purpose.
Atra: I said my power comes from my purpose. These things that I can do - they're needed. People need them, so then I can do them.
  • Lizard Folk: Built like a crocodilian, with a lot of muscle mass and a thick hide.
  • Meaningful Name: Her name means "memory", and she states her purpose is to remember what must not be forgotten.
  • The Stoic: She's very emotionally detached, a trait said to be shared by most lizardfolk.

Kev

A baby lizardfolk Atra is keeping an eye on.

  • Little Stowaway: He hid during the previous evacuation because he wanted to stay with Atra, and she didn't find out until it was just the two of them.

    Taphos

Baphomet

A dark god of Minotaurs on Taphos who takes an interest in Jylliana.

  • The Corruptor: He hopes to sway Jylliana to worship him instead of Ethla.
  • God of Evil: He admits he is cruel, but claims that can be preferable over a kind goddess who is rarely present.
  • It Amused Me: His main reason for accepting Jyll's contact and pulling her into his demiplane - her drive and devotion to Ethla, who he isn't impressed by, amuses him, and he'd like to keep an eye on her more.

Dawnheart

Race: Pegasus

Leader of the Daughters of Epona, a herd of extradimensional pegasi who often land on Taphos.

  • I Owe You My Life: After Artie was able to rescue one of her foals from drowning, she granted him three calls for aid.
  • Pegasus: A magical, dimension-hopping one, though her and her herd's stoppage at Taphos makes sense with the plane's Greek Mythology theme.
