The Bounty Hunters

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/the_three_bounty_hunters.png
The protagonists and playable characters in the game.
    In General
  • Bond One-Liner: The bounty hunters will often say something witty when they use their thrown weapon, such as Mow Man making knife puns, or Anna Conda saying her enemy is about to have an ax-cident.
  • Punch-Clock Hero: Given that they're all bounty hunters, it's no surprise.
  • Weapon Specialization: While all of them can pick up and use the same guns, their default weaponry and throwing weapons are distinct from each other.
    • Anna Conda meets in the middle; she rocks a burst-fire pistol deals a consistent amount of damage and has a tomahawk that deals satisfactory damage provided it hits. Her tomahawk does have some niche utility in that it's the only one of the thrown weapons that has an upwards arc, meaning Anna can potentially hit enemies that are above her with good aim.
    • John Sawyer is a powerhouse; he has a magnum that fires slowly, but powerfully, and his boomerang is short-ranged compared to the other thrown weapons, but he can use it again immediately if he catches it, giving him consistent close-range damage.
    • The Mow Man is very speed-based; he rocks a very quick-firing semi-automatic pistol that doesn't do much damage per shot, but he has a set of three throwing knives that recharge fast compared to the other throwing weapons.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Once the leaders and other higher-ups of each gang are all killed, it turns out that they now all have bounties on their heads. They don't even get paid.

    Anna Conda

Anna Conda

Voiced by: Amber Lee Connors

Age: 32

Race: Human

Birth Place: Earthborn

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/annas_condas_profile_6.png
Ex-commando and firearms expert. A loose-cannon trained to assassinate without question or mercy.
  • Afro Asskicker: Sports an afro, and is a One Woman Army.
  • Ax-Crazy: Downplayed; she tends to have her moments of enthusiasm when she's killing and she certainly gets enraged when damaged, but otherwise she's not psychotic.
  • Elites Are More Glamorous: About the only hint about her past we get is that she's an "ex-commando" of some kind.
  • Eyepatch of Power: As a reference to Snake Plissken. If she meets the actual Snake in one of the secrets, she will, somewhat awkwardly, compliment his eyepatch.
  • Mad Libs Catch Phrase: In just about every stage she says “I hate [X thing she just saw]”, including “I hate men” after overhearing Dean Dandy give a speech of his underlings. Lotta pet peeves, this lady.
  • Punny Name: Like the giant South American snake if you didn’t get it.
  • Sassy Black Woman: Anna is very snarky with any gangster she deals with, especially with the Shogun.

    John Sawyer

John Sawyer

Voiced by: Chris Dillon

Age: 148

Race: Cyborg

Birth Place: Iridium Mines

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/john_sawyers_profile_1.png
Special forces cop who left the law behind. This scarred veteran has lost so many limbs in combat he’s half-robot.
  • Cyborg: He apparently has most of his body cybernetically augmented. The most prominent example is the plate that covers his lower jaw.
  • Hand Cannon: His weapon is a .44 Auto Mag with a scope that kills most normal enemies in one or two shots.
  • In-Series Nickname: “They call me Saw-Jaw.”
  • Older Than They Look: He's almost a century and a half old, but still looks like a middle-aged man, probably due to his cybernetic implants.

    Mow Man

Mow Man

Voiced by: Mel Shiner

Age: 7

Race: Recon Droid

Birth Place: Lunar Complex

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mow_mans_profile_5.png
Modified recon droid, stolen, and empowered with banned software. Trades bodies for cold hard cash.
  • The Baby of the Bunch: He's only seven years old, compared to the 32-year-old Anna Conda or 148 year old John Sawyer.
  • Killer Robot: This one kills for money.
  • Lack of Empathy: Literally. One of his quips in the launch trailer is:
Mow Man: Empathy module not responding.
  • Nice Guy: Compared to the other bounty hunters, he's very polite and at most just gets flippant or condescending with his enemies. Even when Wolfmother informs him of the bounty of his head, he still maintains his composure and simply just inquires about the why and the payment.
  • Three Laws-Compliant: Subverted. Mow Man even scoffs at the first law.

Gangs

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/the_gangs_in_huntdown.png
The four gangs are targeted by the bounty hunters for a reward. Each gang has unique characteristics that require a different strategy toward how to deal with them.
    In General
  • Authority Equals Asskicking: Every high-ranking member has some authority and are far stronger then the grunts you mow down to get to them, and the actual leaders themselves being the strongest members of their gangs.
  • Big Bad Ensemble: The leaders and their gangs seemingly all rivals to each other as implied in the game's intro, and examples like the Misconducts are shown to have captured a few Hoodlum Dolls, pinning them to the ground and on the wall at gunpoint and executing them on site. The Bounty Hunters taking down a gang can incite another to step up their activities in order to take advantage of the power vacuum, such as the Heatseekers stepping up their game when the Misconducts' leader gets taken out.
  • Co-Dragons: The captains of each gang who are second to their leaders.
  • Faction Motto: Each gang has their own that's said through an area of the game.
  • Flunky Boss: Most of the bosses have back up in some form.
  • Motif: All the gangs have their own characteristics and dominant theme, and are inspired by the 1979 film The Warriors.
  • Sorting Algorithmof Evil: While all of them are clearly dangerous, there is a clear power order going on as each one is more of a threat than the last. The most noticeable thing are the amount of unusual weapons, unique Elite Mooks, and most importantly, organization level of each group as you meet them.
    • The Hoodlum Dolls are a large gang, but as the first gang you face they aren't super well trained or well-armed (most of their elites use simple melee weaponry without much finesse) with their leader's ace in the hole being simply one hijacked law enforcement mech- you see the actual law enforcement bring multiple of these to the fight with the Dolls in the very first level, making it clear that the Dolls are outgunned even by the otherwise-useless cops. The Bounty Hunters are essentially containing a giant riot in the Dolls' Sector, being called in to act as backup for the local law enforcement who, while overpowering the Dolls- you find them arresting a bunch at one point- aren't solving the issue fast enough for Wolfmother's taste. The Dolls have no goal beyond burning shit down and having a good time, no profit motive or even a plan past the night, and barely have the sense to try any tactics more complicated than "attack." Overall a simple, if deranged gang.
    • The Misconducts, while a simple gang like the Hoodlum Dolls, are better armed with many of their elites not only using slightly more advanced weaponry- sawed-off shotguns and automatic weapons being semi-common, and with more explosives than the Dolls had, especially TNT- and are generally in better physical condition as well... to say nothing of them being more close-knit and better organized than the Dolls. The very first scene with the Misconducts has them capturing a group of Dolls and executing them, just to rub it in. The Bounty Hunters are now the only operatives after them, as the police responsible for the Sector are turning a blind eye to their gathering because they simply are not capable of taking on all the gang's soldiers. The Misconducts intend to take control of a major transport hub in preparation of a revolution against the city; they're better armed and there's more of them than the Dolls, and they have an actual plan, but they're not that much stronger... and their plan's not that great, since Unholy Goalie, their leader, claims to hear voices, and might just be straight-up crazy.
    • The Heatseekers, unlike the Hoodlum Dolls or the Misconducts, aren't engaged in the rabble-rousing or prophet-led actions of the others, but instead are engaged in more mundane and realistic criminal activities, being a major organized crime outfit supplying weapons to other factions in the city. They take advantage of this gun-running, too, as they are way better armed than the last two gangs- military-grade weaponry and explosives are common, and they even have totally unique toys like hoverbikes and jetpacks that they can equip even random goons with, much less their Captains. Those captains, meanwhile, have some very nasty toys to play with. They aren't as ambitious as the Misconducts, since they really just want to hang on to their own territory and lucrative enterprises, but the gang's excellent equipment gives them a hefty edge over the previous two enemies; the main thing holding them back, evidenced by both Ringo Road Rage and their own over-reliance on their equipment, is a general lack of physical training and discipline, since the Heatseekers clearly lean on their equipment over their own abilities.
    • The NO.1 Suspects, like the Heatseekers, are greatly involved in organized crime, but do it so well they blend into the Downtown areas they control; moreover, while they have the most advanced weapons and equipment that are even beyond what the Heatseekers can offer- up to and including hoverboards and combat drones- they also are highly trained and extremely skilled at battle, not just relying on their gear to carry them. They are extremely trained and organized, to the point of having managed to bribe the cops of their sector into not just looking the other way, but helping them out, effectively turning the local cops into gang members. Their top brass are terrifying opponents with top of the line gear and incredible combat ability; even the gang's fixer, Marlo, is a powerful opponent, when it's clear that his job mostly revolves around bribery! Overall, they are by far the most dangerous of the gangs and are more then deserving of their position as top dogs.

The Hoodlum Dolls

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/the_hoodlum_dolls_logo.png
Hoodlum Dolls' logo
Violent feral punks winning the gang war with the toothless authorities. They are led by Troy Lawman and their territory is the Suburbs Sector, the first area in the game.
    In General
  • Car Fu: Downplayed; the most they have are motorcycles with Dolls armed with crowbars or baseball bats. There are occasional hijacked vehicles in their levels, but the Dolls don't try to run you over with them.
  • Color Motif: Their gang members tend to have a lot of pink coloring in their attire.
  • Faction Motto: Theirs being "Dolls with balls".
  • Fat Bastard: They have morbidly obese Dolls on mopeds that fight with sledge hammers.
  • Improvised Weapon: Most of their major weapons tend to be very low-tech or remade from scrapped vehicles, from the Gas Truck that was turned into a sentry post to the very mech Troy stole.
  • The Quincy Punk: They're your stereotypical studded leather-clad, mohawk wearing, ultra violent punks.
  • Starter Villain: First gang you face, and are the easiest to deal with compared to others. Not to say they aren't threats to face.

    Troy Lawman

Troy Lawman

Voiced by: Jim Stevens

Location: Mall

Crimes: Murder, Corruption, Bribery, Disturbing the Peace

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/troy_lawmans_profile.png
The loose-canon leader of the Hoodlum Dolls who's the one who highjacked and took control of a police mecha riot suit, he's the final boss of the Suburbs Sector.
  • The Alcoholic: Constantly taking swigs of some alcoholic drink, which leaves him open and impairs his judgement (like popping his head out to take potshots at the Hunters to show off).
  • Arc Villain: Of the Suburbs Sector as the leader of the Hoodlum Dolls, having stolen a mecha riot suit and planning to go to town with it.
  • Dirty Cop: His name and the statements about the Dolls managing to get possession of the mech being an inside job indicates this. He's turned his back on law enforcement for fun.
  • Final Boss: Of the Suburbs Sector.
  • Shielded Core Boss: You have to take out his mech's shield first, which will cause him to exit the cockpit and attack you, allowing you to hurt him. Once he's hurt enough, he goes back in and puts his shield up again.
  • Shout-Out: He looks exactly like the leatherman from The Village People.
  • Tactical Suicide Boss: He would have been much harder to kill if he didn't pop out of his mech as soon as its shield was destroyed. Justified due to him being drunk and being on a power high.
  • What Does This Button Do?: He says "What's this button for?" before his mech fires rockets from its Arm Cannon.

Captains

    Sweet Angel

Sweet Angel

Voiced by: Steve Steels

Location: Riot

Crimes: Assault, Vandalism, Drug Trafficking

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sweet_angels_profile.png
With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine.
A malicious lawbreaker armed with chains and knives and is the first boss in the Suburbs Sector.
  • Chain Pain: His melee weapon is a metal chain he uses to whip at you.
  • Ironic Name: He's named Sweet Angel, and he's a violent criminal that destroys a bar and beats a cop to death in his introductory cutscene.
  • Warm-Up Boss: As the very first boss you face, he's got simple and very telegraphed attacks and not a lot of hitpoints. If the player uses the mechanics the game has taught them in the first level, they'll negate most of his attacks entirely.

    Sid Handsome

Sid Handsome

Voiced by: Marcus Bailey

Location: Backstreets

Crimes: Hit Jobs, Assault and Battery, Resisting Arrest

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sid_handsomes_profile.png
Finally some! My knuckles were starting to itch!
A brawler armed with brass knuckles and weight lifts, and is the second boss in the Suburbs Sector.
  • Ax-Crazy: Judging by his quotes and the pile of Misconduct bodies and "K.O." counter in his arena, he seems to enjoy beating people to death with his bare hands.
  • Good Old Fisticuffs: During the first half of the fight, he attacks the player characters with his fists.
  • Improbable Weapon User: The second half of his fight has him pick up his training weights as melee weapons and can also throw them as bouncy projectiles.
  • Kill Tally: Kill tally marks can be seen during his fight.
  • Turns Red: After taking enough damage, he'll retreat to pump some iron, which restores him to full health and gives him the ability to throw his weights at you.

    Bad Boy Bob

Bad Boy Bob

Voiced by: Mike Imburgia

Location: The Ring

Crimes: Murder, Assault and Battery

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bad_boy_bobs_profile.png
You're in Hoodlum territory mate, that means you're all mine!
An infamous, masked pit fighter armed with a baseball bat and shield, he's the third boss in the Suburbs Sector.
  • Bullfight Boss: Bob does a lot of charging and leaping at you during your fight, requiring you to either roll past him or jump out of the way.
  • Carry a Big Stick: Fights with a metal club to beat you down with.
  • Combat Pragmatist: Profile says Bob has never lost a fair fight, cause no fight with Bob is fair. Sure enough, he fights the Bounty Hunters in an arena favoring him, and he regularly throws explosive barrels into it and calls for backup.
  • Luckily, My Shield Will Protect Me: He's capable of using his shield to block your attacks.
  • Masked Luchador: Has the mask and fight in a ring with some wrestling moves, but is far from honorable. His losing portrait even has him unmasked, fittingly.
  • Shout-Out: His voice is an obvious imitation of Randy Savage, and he even climbs the cage to deliver a devastating elbow drop as one of his attacks.

    Psychonaught

Psychonaught

Voiced by: Tommy Gustafsson

Location: Burning Plaza

Crimes: Mass Murder, Arson, Public Intoxication

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/psychonaughts_profile.png
I am the god of hellfire, and I bring you... TOAST!
A drug-addicted pyromaniac wielding a flame thrower, she's the fourth boss in the Suburbs Sector.
  • Cloud Cuckoo Lander: Thanks to all the drugs she's on, she's a deranged maniac who constantly goes on about toast as she sets a city block on fire.
  • The Faceless: Unlike most bosses who wear masks (which are either taken off in their defeat portrait or at least leaves part of their face exposed), what she looks like under her mask is completely unknown.
  • Fire-Breathing Weapon: Her weapon is a flamethrower.
  • A God Am I: As her intro quote states, she not all there.
  • Jump Scare: Hits the player with one early on her level by smashing her head through a wall to scare them, before laughing as she disappears.
  • Shout-Out: Her introductory quote before her boss fight is taken from the song "Fire" by Arthur Brown.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: She can take quite a few bullets thanks to her weight and presumably all the drugs she's on... but her tank of napalm certainly can't. It starts to emit smoke as she takes damage, and then it suddenly goes up and covers her in burning fuel.
  • Vocal Dissonance: Despite being female, she has a masculine voice and she is voiced by a male VA.
  • Woman on Fire: When she gets to her last quarter of her health, her flamethrower explodes and sets her on fire. She then runs about haphazardly with flames over herself and bursting from the leaking gas canister, causing damage to you and her flunkies alike.

The Misconducts

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/the_misconducts_logo.png
Misconducts' logo
Organized hockey hooligans, experts in robbery and extortion with a penchant for explosives. They are led by Unholy Goalie and their territory is the Underground Zone, the second area in the game.
    In General
  • Color Motif: The Misconducts are predominantly Blue, with shades of Cyan every now and then.
  • Cool Mask: Most members and their elites wear, quite fittingly, hockey masks, including Unholy Goalie himself.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Corpses of Misconducts can be seen in the first chapter during Sid Handsome boss fight.
  • Faction Motto: Theirs being "Witness the power!"
  • Football Hooligans: More like Hockey hooligans. They use hockey sticks as a primary weapon and use hockey equipment as makeshift armor.
  • I Know Madden Kombat: The melee units within their ranks incorporate hockey tactics to charge at their opponents and even deflect handheld explosives. Throw a grenade at a charging Misconduct and you'll likely have it knocked right back into your face.
  • Make Way for the New Villains: This is how they make their introduction after dealing with the Hoodlum Dolls.
  • Sawed-Off Shotgun: The Misconducts are fond of using double-barreled sawed-off shotguns, unlike the pump-action ones the Hoodlum Dolls were using.

    Unholy Goalie

Unholy Goalie

Voiced by: Mike Imburgia

Location: Arena

Crimes: Mass Murder, Robbery, Extortion, Conspiracy, Disturbing the Peace

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/unholy_goalies_profile.png
Well Well... What do we have here? Kittens strolling into the lions' den? It's showtime!
The brand new, charismatic leader of the Misconducts, he has made a name for himself as a legend after uniting all the Misconducts charters, and he is the final boss of the Underground Zone.
  • Ambidextrous Sprite: Particularly noticeable with his gatling gun arm, which swaps to his other arm every time he turns around.
  • Arc Villain: Of the Underground Zone, as the leader of the Misconducts who seeks to lead a revolution by uniting all Misconducts charters.
  • Arm Cannon: One of his arms is replaced with a gatling gun, although it's hard to tell which.
  • The Big Guy: He's a gigantic mountain of muscles even before being injected with super steroids.
  • Final Boss: Of the Underground Zone.
  • Gatling Good: Has a gatling gun as one of his arms.
  • Hearing Voices: Claims to be a "prophet" led by the voices he hears.
  • Large Ham: The most bombastic of all the bosses, and he's deliberately playing it up for the massive crowd watching the fight.
  • Shockwave Stomp: He's so huge that even his jumping and landing causes shockwaves to traverse the floor.
  • Throwing Your Sword Always Works: His second phase has him throwing his bladed hockey stick into a concrete wall, then slamming into the wall to get it back out.
  • Turns Red: After depleting his health bar for the first time, a random Misconduct jumps into the arena and injects him with a Super Serum, making him double in size, giving him more dangerous attacks, and literally turning him red.
  • Walking Shirtless Scene: Unholy Goalie is wearing nothing but his mask above the waist.

Let's light up the place a little, boys!
A demolition enthusiast wielding dynamite and a rocket launcher, and is the first boss in the Underground Zone.
  • Concealment Equals Cover: During the first phase of his fight, he hunkers down in a makeshift hut that must be destroyed before being able to do any direct damage to him.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: Like his name suggests, he loves using explosion-based weaponry like a RPG and sticks of TNT. Getting his health low enough makes him start throwing enough TNT to cover most of his arena.
  • Throw Down the Bomblet: Throws sticks of dynamite as one of his attacks. When he gets low on health, he starts carpet bombing you.

At last you found me. Didn't know you were such a fan.
CCCHL (Central Confederate Corporations Hockey League) hockey player turned disreputable enforcer for the Misconducts, and the second boss in the Underground Zone.
  • Beauty Is Never Tarnished: Defied as she is just as beaten up as male bosses are in her defeat portrait.
  • I Know Madden Kombat: She fights by skating around and using her hockey stick to attack the player character, since that's all she knows from her days as an actual hockey player.
  • Shock and Awe: Turns on "Ol Sparky", a giant electric shooting machine above her arena, partway through her fight.
  • Shout-Out: Her name, accent and some of her quotes are an obvious reference to Ivan Drago.
Nadja Drago: I must break you!

    Shell-Shock Murdoch

Shell-Shock Murdoch

Voiced by: Steven Steels

Location: Sewers

Crimes: Murder, Robbery, Crimes against Humanity

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shell_shock_murdochs_profile.png
Look alive, private! Charlie's in the perimeter...
A mentally-unstable WWIII elite forces veteran who's heavily armed, and is the third boss in the Underground Zone.
  • Godzilla Threshold: His overtly crazy nature and profile saying he's only brought in when the other Misconducts fail indicates that his gang consider setting him loose as this. Seeing as he's got corpses of fellow Misconducts posed around his makeshift basecamp, he's liable to kill them if they trigger his PTSD.
  • Madness Mantra: Murdoch repeatedly says "The horrors...", both before you reach him and during his boss fight.
  • More Dakka: His weapons of choice is an assault rifle, which allows him to fire a hail of bullets at you.
  • Sanity Has Advantages: While a huge threat, his insanity works against him when he loses some health; Murdoch stops fighting tactically and just fires bullets while running around screaming in a psychotic episode. This is unpredictable, but also has more blind spots if the player is careful (he only bothers to flush you out of cover if he runs past the player).
  • Screaming Warrior: He'll often scream at the top of his lungs while spraying machinegun fire everywhere. The first instance of this causes one of the Bounty Hunters to remark at how bonkers he is.
  • Shell-Shocked Veteran: It's even in his name — he's an ex-WWIII veteran who's mentally unstable, and his portrait displays that loud and clear. When he takes enough damage, he goes into a psychotic frenzy and starts running around firing repeatedly, or stands still while firing lots of grenades from his Grenade Launcher.
  • Shout-Out: He's constantly mumbling/screaming "The horrors..." during the fight. His history as a special forces soldier and fully-automatic style is also quite reminiscent of Rambo.

Just in time for trying out my new security system. Have fun!
Unholy Goalie's right-hand man and accountant, he's the fourth boss in the Underground Zone.
  • Casual Danger Dialogue: When you meet him he's on the phone with Unholy Goalie and turns on the automated defenses for his office to kill you.
  • The Dragon: Specifically identified as Unholy Goalie's right hand man.
  • Even Bad Men Love Their Mamas: Has a mother who cares about him, as shown when he mistakenly thinks that his mom is calling him at work, implying this has happened before. His quote before he fights you as shows his affection towards his mom.
"Wanna do it the right way? Do it yourself, as mamma always says."
  • Implausible Deniability: Outright lies about the fight going on during his call with his boss, acting like there isn't any gunshots happening in the background.
  • Non-Action Guy: Averted. While his status as the accountant and usage of sentry guns would imply this, he proves himself to be more then capable on his own, joining several members to gun down some Hoodlum Dolls at the start of the zone and fighting head on in the last phase of his fight.
  • Sentry Gun: His security system spawns turret guns that move to the player's level and fire.
  • Shotguns Are Just Better: Once his sentry guns and henchmen fail, he gets up close and personal with a double barrel shotgun.

The Heatseekers

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/the_heatseekers_logo.png
Heatseekers' logo
A murderous motorcycle club, these rockabilly villains style themselves on the centurions of Ancient Rome. They are led by Ringo Road Rage and their territory is the Industrial Complex, the third area in the game.
    In General
  • Car Fu: Played straight, unlike with the Dolls; given the theme of the Heatseekeers, this is pretty much their standard tactic. Aside from your standard motorcycles, the Heatseekers also use Choppers armed with guns on the front and dune buggies to run you over, and even motorbike riders with Heatseekers skiing on them.
  • Color Motif: As their motto indicates, they wear yellow.
  • Faction Motto: Theirs being "Good guys wear yellow".
  • Greaser Delinquents: They're a gang of rockabilly bikers that also like to wear Roman-inspired armor.
  • Jet Pack: Several Heatseekers come with jetpacks. When shot down, they'll fly out of control and crash, creating a field of flames on impact.

These mercs are a real pain in the ass. Jeff, bring out the vortex cannon, will yeh?
The notorious leader of the Heatseekers, he's the king of the gun trade as he is the one who armed multiple gangs with advanced weaponry, and is the final boss of the Industrial Complex.
  • Arc Villain: Of the Industrial Complex, as the leader of the Heatseekers, seeking to finish their deal of selling weapons.
  • Big Badass Rig: He transports weapons in a humongous truck that wouldn't be out of place in a Mad Max movie.
  • Car Fu: During his battle he drives his rig into cars, causing them to fly into the air towards the player.
  • Clipped-Wing Angel: After destroying his rig, his only means of fight you is with a chainsaw, which is much easier to deal with than the first two phases. He even gets tired of chasing you, giving you a window of time to shoot at him.
  • Fat Bastard: He's quite obese. This works against him once he's forced to face you personally, since he has to stop periodically to catch his breath, leaving him defenseless for a while.
  • Final Boss: Of the Industrial Complex.
  • Macross Missile Massacre: Part two of his fight has Ringo order his own men to launch missiles at the trailer the bounty hunter is on.
  • Wave-Motion Gun: The vortex cannon he has in his rig, which fires a gigantic laser beam.

Baby, I got the wheels. I make the deals.
A bold, daring highway robber riding on a speedy hoverbike and wielding a lance, he's the first boss in the Industrial Complex.
  • Archaic Weapon for an Advanced Age: In an advanced cyberpunk setting and in a gang specializing in heavy firepower, Dean stands out by using a lance. No hidden guns or rockets in it, it's just a simple lance that he uses with a massive hoverbike in place of a horse.
  • Bring It: One of his lines is "Give me your best shot, pal. I can take it."
  • Expy: He looks like an evil version of Danny Zuko.
  • Greaser Delinquents: Looks like one.
  • Hover Bike: He rides a hoverbike while using a jousting lance to attack as he charges the player.
  • Motorcycle Jousting: He even wields a jousting lance as his weapon.
  • Yes-Man: Has one in the form of a ditzy brunette who always rides with him, and cheers him on during the boss fight. A little too thick at times, as even he tells her it's enough at one point.

I never miss an opportunity. And today, you're the opportunity, bounty hunter!
A smuggling expert and a cold-hearted assassin wielding a sniper rifle, riding a jetpack, and she's the second boss in the Industrial Complex.
  • Cold Sniper: While not really stoic, she is a heartless smuggler and killer who uses a sniper rifle.
  • Disney Villain Death: How she dies; as her jetpack explodes and she falls to her death.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Can fire homing missiles, which can be made to hit her instead. In fact, an achievement is granted for killing her off in this fashion.note

Start up those engines, you worthless pieces of shit.
A ruthless killer and human trafficker riding on a chariot being pulled by an automobile operated by two of his trafficked victims, and is the third boss in the Industrial Complex.
  • Bad Boss: He treats his underlings like dirt.
  • Boss-Arena Idiocy: His chariot is very hard to hit with guns, and even then, bullets don't do much damage to it. Luckily for you, there just happens to be quite a lot of remote charges laying around in his arena.
  • Car Fu: He constantly tries to run you over with his chariot during his fight.
  • The Dog Bites Back: His defeat screen has him held down by one of his own abused men while the other grins as he prepares to beat The Overseer up.
  • A Taste of the Lash: He's constantly whipping his henchmen to make them go faster.

Look what you did! You destroyed my guitar!
An original core member of the Heatseekers who often evade authorities after committing crimes, and is the fourth boss in the Industrial Complex. He tries to run over the bounty hunters with his huge van, wields his damaged guitar as a weapon in the fight.
  • Advancing Wall of Doom: Before his boss fight proper, he tries to run you over with his monster truck, forcing you to flee until you can cause him to crash into a foundry.
  • Body Horror: Falling into and surviving molten metal, he jumps out as a hideous melted man with elongated arms.
  • Berserk Button: He's none too happy about his guitar being broken.
  • Clipped-Wing Angel: His melted form, while more dangerous with stretchy limbs and jumping around, is still the result of him falling in lava and almost melting and all the horror that entails.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: He can be seen watching your fight against the Overseer in the previous level.
  • Elvis Impersonator: Pretty much an evil Elvis, between the appearance, style of talking and dialogue being full of references to The King's songs.
  • Instrument of Murder: Once he's knocked off the vat of molten metal, he starts attacking you with his damaged guitar.
  • Major Injury Underreaction: While he does complain alot about his new look and does sound horrified, his tone is pretty restrained for someone that just got out of LAVA and is a melted mess. Even his comments on his Body Horror aren't too panicked or horrified. This could be justified by him still being in shock.
  • No One Should Survive That!: He falls into a sea of molten metal, yet survives as a horrifyingly melted man.
  • Rubber Man: After falling into molten metal and getting out, he becomes melted to the point where his limbs become stretchy, and he uses said stretchy limbs to attack you.

The NO.1 Suspects

NO.1 Suspects' logo
Masters of discipline and organized crime, and martial arts experts, these slick psychopaths control the night through their casinos and nightclubs. They are led by the Shogun and their territory is the Downtown Area, the fourth and final area in the game.
    In General
  • Color Motif: While their backgrounds are a rich shade of Purple, most of their members typically wear Red.
  • Dirty Cop: Exaggerated. Most of their cannon fodder is this given they're the only gang who have been able to pay off the authorities to act as their soldiers.
  • Drone Deployer: Unlike the other gangs, they have access to robotics which range from small spider-like drones that shoot plasma at you, surveillance drones that start shooting at the ground as soon as you pass its light, and even samurai-pimp sentinels armed with demolishers and floating explosive drones.
  • Faction Motto: Theirs is "Respect the Nº1 Suspects".
  • Gangbangers: They combine this with Hong Kong movie-esque martial artist aesthetic.
  • Meaningful Name: Given that they are the final gang you face, and are the most technologically and tactically advanced gang compared to the other 3, their name definitely lives up to their reputation.
  • Proactive Boss: At least 3 of the main key players in this gang will attempt to kill you off before you've even officially begun the battle against them.
  • Wicked Cultured: Downplayed; while most of them dress like gangsters and use firearms, some of them embrace the more oriental aspect of the gang by employing clothing related to the motif and combat tactics related to it such as martial arts as well as weapons like katanas and staves.

I'll teach you about the NO.1 master!
The influential leader of the NO.1 Suspects whose power reaches from the streets to seats in government, having his thumb on the sector, and is the final boss of the Downtown Area.
  • Arc Villain: Of the Downtown Area, as the leader of the NO.1 Suspects for he is trying to expand his gang's numbers, territory, power, and influence in the sector of the City.
  • Badass Boast: Belts out a lot of these throughout the fight, and more than backs them up.
  • Brought Down to Badass: He isn't top dog just because of his mechsuit. Even without it, he's a stone cold badass samurai who can and will destroy you with swordsmanship and teleportation.
  • Cyber Ninja: More of a Samurai, but the point still stands given his combination of themes and advanced technology.
  • The Faceless: You never see his face, as it's covered completely by his helmet and his defeat portrait has his head already reduced to a skull.
  • Final Boss: Of the Downtown Area, and of the entire game.
  • Freefall Fight: The second phase of his boss fight is done after destroying his mecha suit. You fight him while jumping between pieces of his crumbling lair.
  • Humongous Mecha: The first phase of his fight has him ride a huge samurai-themed mecha with a chainsword and flying bladed drones.
  • My Death Is Just the Beginning: Before he dies, he tells the Bounty Hunters that someone else will take his place.
"Others will rise to take my place. Sooner than you think… Bounty Hunter…"
  • Shout-Out: Fittingly for the leader of a black martial arts themed gang, he quotes The Last Dragon.
The Shogun: When I say "Who is the master?" you say "The Shogun".

If pain is money, you're about to become the richest man alive.
A four-armed mutant who is a smooth talker and a quick, skilled gunslinger, responsible for bribing the police with very tempting offers, and the second boss in the Downtown Area.
  • Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy: Swap kung-fu for gunplay and you get the idea. He's proud of his skills with his guns and even mocks those who use automatics.
  • Dirty Cop: Not Marlo himself, but he uses the services of a bribed police helicopter pilot to aid him during his stage and boss fight.
  • Multi-Armed and Dangerous: His mutation is having four arms, all of which hold guns.
  • Pimp Duds: He looks like your typical blaxploitation movie pimp.
  • Tactical Suicide Boss: The second phase of his boss fight would be quite harder if Marlo didn't toss crates filled with guns at you.

I have been waiting for you, bounty hunter.
One of the most respected founders of the NO.1 Suspects, this old man is acrobatic and wields two automatic shotguns in combat and is the third boss in the Downtown Area.
  • Bait-and-Switch: From his mugshot to his initial fighting stance, he seems to fight with some kind of ancient magic. In truth, he's just incredibly spry and fights with Gun Fu.
  • Calling Your Attacks: "TOOOOOOOORNADOOOOOOOOO!"
  • Evil Old Folks: Quite old, and a prominent member of a criminal gang.
  • Glass Cannon: He can quickly shred through the player's health and moves very fast for his age, but he has only one health bar and goes down fairly quickly compared to other bosses.
  • Guns Akimbo: He dual wields automatic shotguns.
  • Old Master: An old man who's very capable of Gun Fu.
  • Punny Name: "Yuudai". "You die". Very subtle.

  • Teleport Spam: She constantly teleports all over the place during the first phase of her boss fight.
  • Your Mind Makes It Real: She uses her VR technology to try to kill you and her physical body keels over when you beat the hologram.

Mrs. Rose "Wolfmother"

Voiced by: Kara Noble

Head of the Shimamoto Corporation and the bounty hunters' employer, briefing them on the gangs and their leaders in the game.
  • Affably Evil: She is a motherly figure that refers to the bounty hunters as her "children", but she's still the face of a power-hungry MegaCorp. Not to mention she stabs you in the back at the end.
  • Face Death with Dignity: As soon as she realizes a bounty has been placed on her head, she states that all contracts must be honored and resigns herself to her imminent "retirement". After all, she's watched you hunt down every other bounty.
  • Mission Control: She is the one that gives you the task of getting rid of the gangs.
  • Needlework Is for Old People: She's always seen knitting, even when she's about to be assassinated.
  • The Unfought: You don't even get the satisfaction of revenge when she betrays you, as she's betrayed as well, with another bounty hunter killing her in the ending.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Just as its revealed that the hunters now have bounties on their heads, it turns out one's been placed on hers as well.

  • All There in the Manual: You only see his full name in in-game advertisement billboards.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Constantly does this off-screen, seeing as he somehow pulls the bounty hunters out of situations where they've died and then heals/repairs them. Rescues you from falling to your death after beating The Shogun.
