Deities
The deities that inhabit the Forgotten Universe In General
- Deity of Human Origin: Many of the Gods started out as Mortals, although there are exceptions to this.
- Gods Need Prayer Badly: They need followers in order to grow their power.
- Physical God: All deities are immensely powerful, although they do require a lot of Mana to manifest in the world.
Aperio (Titles: Forgotten, Demiurge)
- Action Mom: She is the mother of Ferio and Roots-Beneath-All. And the universe.
- Flying Brick: She has wings, so she can fly. She's super strong and tough to boot.
- God Is Flawed: Is she ever. However, with her rebirth, she is willing to admit it now.
- Gods Need Prayer Badly: Subverted. Even before her death she had few followers and rarely interacted with them. She still grows stronger, although not even she knows exactly how she does it.
- Kill the God: Happened to her prior to the series.
- Lightning Bruiser: Time literally slows when she is in combat, making everyone appear extremely slow. She's incredibly strong to boot.
- Made a Slave: She was this in the Empire.
- Nigh-Invulnerability: She is incredibly difficult to harm, with most things simply bouncing off of her. She once tried to hurt herself with a rock and then a piece of metal, but couldn't (even though she also has Super-Strength.
- Pride: Had this in spades, before her death. Is slowly regaining it the longer she is alive.
- Power Echoes: Has this, but unlike anyone else who can do it, she can't turn it off.
- Power Gives You Wings
- Sex Slave: Was forced into this by the Empire.
- Slavery Is a Special Kind of Evil: Feels like this after being a slave to the Empire. She even killed a noble and his teacher when he tried to enslave her.
- Telepathy: Has this, although she can't use it on mortals, because Your Head A-Splode.
- Time Abyss: Predates the Universe (in fact, she is the one that created it). She spent over a thousand years in the Void and barely noticed. Would oftentimes lose days to distractions, and what she considers a "long time" is usually measured in millennia.
- Time Dissonance: Has little to no perception of time.
- The Old Gods: The oldest of them all.
- Top God: She is the first God, and from what we've seen thus far, the most powerful.
- War God: Has shades of this. She loves improving herself, growing stronger and fighting.
Ediscio (God of Knowledge, God of Lore)
- Badass Bookworm: Is likely this, as a God of Knowledge.
Ferio (Goddess of Light, Goddess of Life)
- Divine Parentage: Is the daughter of Aperio
Inanis (Goddess of Darkness, Goddess of Freedom)
- Dark Is Evil: We get some hints early on that this might be the case
- Dark Is Not Evil: She has a good relationship with Vigil, the God of Light.
Mayeia (Goddess of Magic)
- The Archmage: Is presumably this, as the Goddess of Magic
- Deity of Human Origin: One of the Gods who was a Mortal prior to becoming a Deity.
Natio (God of the Underworld)
- Curb-Stomp Battle: Was on the receiving end of this by Aperio
- The Grim Reaper: In a sense. He is the God of the Underworld after all.
- Oh, Crap!: Had this reaction when Aperio removed his Godhood
- Smug Snake: Was this before losing his godhood
- Technicolor Fire: His realm is filled with this.
Roots-Beneath-All
- Above Good and Evil: Serves as an impartial arbiter of the System. He does seem to have a soft spot for his sister Ferio.
- Divine Parentage: Is a child of Aperio
Vigil (God of Light, God of Justice)
- Light Is Not Good: Probably subverted. Much of what we have seen of him thus far does not paint a pretty picture, despite his Domain.
Adventurers
The adventurers in the Forgotten Universe In General
- Adventure Guild: Of a sort. In-universe, they are seen more as mercenaries.
Arden (Blessing of Aperio)
- Touched by Vorlons: Was the first human blessed by Aperio in a very long time.
Caethya Martinek (Touched by the All-Mother)
- The Ace: The highest level Mortal we've seen in the series thus far.
- Touched by Vorlons: Her soul was touched by Aperio while it was in the Void, waiting for rebirth. Initially, it gave her an unreadable title (due to the System being broken). It allowed her to reach the highest level we've seen in a Mortal thus far. It might also allow her to become a Goddess, although Aperio is only speculating on this point.
Kiro
- Curb-Stomp Battle: Was on the receiving end of this by Aperio.
- Do Not Taunt Cthulhu: He tried doing this with Aperio. It did not go well for him.
- Hot-Blooded: When he was first introduced, he was fighting challengers in an Arena in a dungeon. This also leads to him challenging Aperio to a fight. See above.
- Stock Light-Novel Hero: Has shades of this. Probably because he was pulled into the world from Earth
- Unique Protagonist Asset: Not unique, but he did get to choose the blessing he received from a whole list of gods. He ended up choosing the Goddess of Magic.
Kereman Vinmaier
- Slavery Is a Special Kind of Evil: Tried to enslave Aperio. Aperio pulled a One-Hit Kill on him for trying.
Guides
Keepers of knowledge in the Forgotten Universe In General
Ira (Titles: Guide, Favourite of the Roots, Blessing of Edisicio, Ward Smith)
- Cool Old Guy: Is in his twilight years, but still patiently guides his charges and helped Aperio get to Ebenlowe.
O'lymni Videns (Grandmaster)
- Badass Bookworm: Is almost a thousand years old, yet is the leader of the guides and keeps the Record (a record of everything that happened).

- Maid: She is Maria's personal maid.

- Our Dragons Are Different: A Dragon that lives in a Dungeon on another continent.
Laelia Whytegaard (Blessing of Aperio)
- Touched by Vorlons: Was a paladin of Vigil, with a piece of his power inside of her. Later becomes a Paladin of Aperio.
Kario
Maria Terenyk (Touched by the All-Mother)
- Touched by Vorlons: Her soul was touched by Aperio while it was in the Void, waiting for rebirth. Initially, it gave her an unreadable title (due to the System being broken).
Moria
- Missing Mom: Was the closest thing Aperio the slave had as a mother. She was chopped up by a knight in the arena prior to the book starting.
Thaddeus
- Cursed with Awesome: Is very good at sensing mana. It also causes him extreme pain to be in Aperio's presence, given how much mana she keeps pouring out.
- Supernatural Sensitivity: Is incredibly sensitive to mana.
