Debuting in Fighting Vipers

    Bahn
Hailing from his hometown of Nishino Machi, Japan, Bahn, AKA Genghis Bahn III, is a foreign exchange student and former gang leader who has traveled to Armstone City to find and confront his father, who abandoned him and his mother when he was just a baby. But will the search end here?

    Honey (Candy)
Honey is a girl who dreams of becoming an apparel designer. Learning of the Viper Tournaments, she dons her own self-made rubber armor and enters, heartily feeling it would be a great idea to use the tournament to show off her latest works and styles.
  • Animal Motifs: Many of Honey's moves have the word "cat" in them and she also has a lot of cat-like mannerisms, including her fighting pose and the way she throws her punches. It's no wonder she ended up being a cat in Sonic the Fighters.
  • Ass Kicks You: She uses her posterior as a weapon. The sequel gives it a cute sound when it connects.
  • Dub Name Change: Renamed to "Candy" in the international versions.
  • Girlish Pigtails: Honey sports twintails.
  • Idol Singer: Her armored dress looks a lot like an idol singer costume.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Honey is certainly well-endowed and wears rubber undergarments beneath her armor. She gains a number of alternate outfits in the Japanese Saturn version, including a swimsuit and schoolgirl outfit. Her Japanese ending also shows pictures of her undressing and showing off her cleavage for the player, and Fighters Megamix gives her the infamous "Taste of Honey" wallpaper. The Dreamcast port of the sequel gives her an alternate Naughty Nurse Outfit.
  • Stripperiffic: She's not wearing much when you destroy her armor. If she destroys her own armor after winning 100 rounds, she loses her skirt as well.

    Grace
Grace is an African American fashion model in the city of Armstone. Despite her job, she originally had dreams of becoming a professional ice skater during high school, until her coach, both her lover and instructor, cheated on her. Infuriated, she breaks up with him and quits ice skating, switching to inline skating instead. She enters the Vipers Tournament to fight the pain of her past.

    Raxel
Raxel is the lead vocalist and guitarist for the heavy metal group Death Crunch, and is well known throughout Armstone City for his talent and charisma. Having dropped out of school and having left home after a fight with his father, an Armstone City councilman, Raxel enters the Viper Tournament to show himself off for his and his band's recognition.
  • Chained by Fashion: In the sequel, Raxel's armor makes heavy use of chains for his death metal band theming.
  • Instrument of Murder: His guitar. He won't hesitate to swing it around like a weapon, but like Picky's skateboard, it'll break if overused.

    Tokio
Tokio is a Japanese American "AZN" teenager from Armstone City. Brought up in a strict household of Kabuki actors, Tokio eventually grew tired of following the rules. At age 14, Tokio started up a street gang known as Black Thunder, but as his gang grew prominent, he left the role of leader and the gang altogether when one of his members was killed, as he felt responsible for it. Tokio enters the Viper Tournament for the thrill of it.

    Sanman
A mysterious teenager, whose only known open enjoyments in life are his custom tuned motor scooter, and the number three. He isn't the kind of guy for words, but in the Viper tournaments, his fists enjoy expressing how he feels. He's also friendly towards Picky, but their friendship is more of an acquaintanceship.
  • Ass Kicks You: Like Honey, he also uses his butt as a weapon.
  • I Know Madden Kombat: His main throw is to hurl his opponent like a bowling ball, sound effects included.
  • Mighty Glacier: He's slow but packs a punch and has the most vicious throws in the game.

    Jane
Ever since she was a little girl, Jane has always wanted to become a Marine. Throughout high school, she trained her muscles to the limit so that one day she may proudly serve her country in the Corps. However, the Marines rejected her application when she finally went to the recruitment office, considering her mentally unstable due to a near-lethal blow Jane once administered during a heated struggle. This news devastated her. Forced to work part-time as a subway construction worker to make end meet for herself, Jane enters the tournament to measure her prowess and justify her training in her youth.

    Picky
Picky is a self proclaimed "skateboarding genius" at Armstone Junior High. While he enjoys boarding, Picky actually did it to impress his girlfriend Catherine. But as word spread about the Viper Tournament, Picky takes his thrashing skills and enters the tournament as a chance to impress her again.

    B.M.
The dictator/mayor of Armstone City, hosting a fighting tournament for these fighters ending at the City Tower. "B.M." stands for "Big Mahler", indicating a connection between him and Mahler.w
  • Big Bad: Obviously, though his intentions regarding the tournament are unknown.

    Mahler
A mysterious and imposing man who has a score to settle with Mayor B.M.. No one even knows his real name, having skipped out on that during registration. In the first game, he looks identical to B.M., aside from B.M. being noticeably taller and stronger than him; in Fighting Vipers 2, the two men have different appearances from each other, though both still wear snake-themed armors.
  • Secret Character: In the original game, he becomes available after finishing the game on the hardest difficulty with any character. Averted in Fighting Vipers 2, where Mahler is available by default.

    Kumachan
An inarticulate bear balloon that uses Sanman's moveset. It has an alternate costume named Pandachan.

    Pepsiman
