    In General
  • Adjective Noun Fred: The names of Moonlight Heroes follow this syntax to differentiate them from their similarly-named alternate counterparts.
  • Alternate Self: Several of these characters are categorized under this trope in contrast to their original counterparts. Most of them though, aren't the same person.
  • Darker and Edgier/Lighter and Softer: The moonlight characters are considered to be either darker and eviler selves (i.e. Arbiter Vildred and Blood Blade Karin), or an evil Alternate Self (i.e. Sinful Angelica and Troublemaker Crozet). On the flip side, certain moonlight characters are often a much sillier take and more upbeat on their original counterparts (i.e. Kitty Clarissa, Maid Chloe, and Challenger Dominiel)
  • For Want Of A Nail: In the game's lore, some of the alternate selves are justified as "What If?" scenarios that would've been a result of a drastic change in the original character's lives.
  • Light/Darkness Juxtaposition: All Moonlight Heroes are either Light or Dark elementals.
  • Palette Swap: Since a Moonlight Hero is usually an Alternate Self, it shares the same sprite animations as the original but with a different color or outfit.
  • Rare Random Drop: Moonlight Heroes are hard to obtain as they require rare or extremely valuable currencies like 5 Galaxy Bookmarks, or 6 Gold Transmit Stones, or 50 Mystic Medals for each attempt at getting one. As an alternative method and a QoL that subverted this trope, Moonlight Heroes were later included in the Covenant Banner, which uses the regular gacha currency, Covenant Bookmarks.
  • Significant Double Casting: Moonlight Heroes share the same voice actor as their original counterparts because most of them are alternate selves, or are the same person.

  • Good Old Fisticuffs: It's in the name, as he specializes in a form of fist-fighting martial arts.
  • Horned Humanoid: Unlike his other self, this version of Ken has demon-like horns on his head.

  • Something about a Rose: Red roses are seen on his background, outfit, and even on his scythe.

    Moon Bunny Dominiel
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/moon_bunny_dominiel.png

  • Impossibly-Low Neckline: Her dress is a kimono that never reaches above her shoulders.

  • Horned Humanoid: Compared to his original self, Baal grew long horns in this version.
  • Living Toys: Baal locked Sezan's soul in a doll in an attempt to preserve her forever. But this trope gets subverted as Sezan's soul gradually eroded over time, leaving just an ordinary doll.
  • Love Makes You Evil: The sole reason why Baal placed Sezan's soul into a doll? It's because he loved her so much.

Rarity: 5★

  • BFS: As opposed to the original version's very obvious whip chain sword, this Lidica's Whip Sword forms a traditional base in its compact form, which is also very long.
  • Ojou Ringlets: Her curly hair has this style in its entirety.
  • Whip of Dominance: Faithless Lidica wields a Whip Sword just like her original counterpart, but she does so with much more sadism and has some Dominatrix overtones, with one side-story having her discovering how much fun she has in whipping men.
  • Whip Sword: This is also her weapon, but the base form much closely resembles a traditional sword now.

    Briar Witch Iseria

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/epic_seven_briar_witch_iseria_5.png
Voiced by: Lisa Luck (English), Yukana (Japanese)
Rarity: 5★
Element: Dark
Class: Ranger
Zodiac Sign: Gemini

  • Darker and Edgier: Briar Witch Iseria has a darker backstory this time compared to her original countepart. It's reflected in her appearance by having a darker outfit, paler skin, washed-out hair and a depressed demeanour.
  • Fighting Your Friend: The curse of the Dark Witch caused Iseria to turn her blade towards her lover and friends.
  • Flower Motifs: Just like her regular counterpart, white flowers still surround Briar Witch Iseria's theme, especially in her artwork.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: When placed in the Lobby tavern or the Guild Hall, the ordinary Iseria's Idle Animation makes her attract a flying spirit in her hand, which stays there for a while. But in Briar Witch Iseria's idle animation, she tries to hold up her hand to reach for the spirit, but it flies quickly away from her instead.
  • Gray Rain of Depression: Being cursed also took away the blessing that Iseria once had. In her ultimate move, Iseria tries to summon The Sword of White Flowers but fails as rain pours down from the clouds instead, sending her even deeper into sadness before she unleashes a newfound power from her curse.
  • Heroic BSoD: The shock of having to fight her lover and friends led to Iseria locking herself in the witch's castle, surrounded by thornbushes.
  • He Who Fights Monsters: Iseria, while still being a noble knight in the kingdom, was sent to find and hunt the Dark Witch. Unfortunately, the witch cursed Iseria instead.
  • Scars Are Forever: She has a cross-shaped scar in the center of her chest.

Rarity: 4★
Element: Dark
Class: Mage
Zodiac Sign: Scorpio

  • Breakout Character: On 2020, an update changed the game's official app logo with Challenger Dominiel's face.
  • Cleavage Window: Just look at the image. Her pose might have something to do with this.
  • Genki Girl: Despite being a troublemaker and an antagonist in the Nixied Sanctum dungeon, she's more upbeat and excitable when compared to the original and more stoic Dominiel.
  • Impossibly-Low Neckline: Her dress doesn't seem to be held on her shoulders, exposing them. They don't even have straps.

    Assassin Coli
"I will send you to the grave."
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/epic_seven_assassin_coli.png
Voiced by: Adrienne Wilkinson (English), Ayaka Fukuhara (Japanese)
Rarity: 4★
Element: Dark
Class: Thief
Zodiac Sign: Taurus

  • Big Damn Heroes: She and Assassin Cidd came to Haste's rescue when the latter is about to be beaten by Melissa.
  • Cool Sword: Her blades appear to have glowing jewels near their hilt.
  • Devious Daggers: Primarily relies on her daggers this time, unlike her original counterpart who uses bombs.
  • Dual Wielding: Wields a dagger on each arm.
  • Expy: Assassin Coli is a huge reference to Jack the Ripper of Fate/Grand Order - from their weapons being dual daggers, their Reverse Grip weapon and crouched fighting stance, a red tattoo on their shoulder, their Fanservice design exposing their midriff and a Zettai Ryouiki. Even A. Coli's daggers and dual sheaths bear a similar resemblance to Jack's. And to hammer the point, her way of passing through and attacking the opponent from behind in Ambush is very similar to how Jack's Maria the Ripper Noble Phantasm got animated in FGO, even that time when she appears out of the shadows! If their abilities are considered, A. Coli's self-stealth buff can also be a reference to Jack's self-evasion buff.
  • In the Back: Assassin Coli's ultimate skill, where she sneaks past her target after the initial attack, followed by attacking them once more from behind.
  • Motor Mouth: If Haste is to be believed, Assassin Coli can be talkative, which is what he hates about her.
  • Only in It for the Money: In Chapter 3, Kluri and Assassin Coli were hired by Nehenqui to stall Ras and his friends so that Nehenqui could finally escape. After the fight, the two girls explained that they were just desperate for money, wanting to help the nomads find a new home.
  • Perpetual Frowner: A striking contrast to the original, Assassin Coli rarely smiles, to the point where her default expression is a serious look.
  • Reverse Grip: In her artwork, she holds her daggers in this manner. In her actual sprite? Not actually.

    Assassin Cidd
"Let's not let this drag on... End it now."

  • Badass Cape: He wears a bright yellow-green cape.
  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: Still as androgynous like the original Aither, but it's kinda downplayed now that he has a different and shorter hairstyle.
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: There's a ribbon only on a side of his belt, while his left leg has a thigh band while the other has none.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: Moonlight Heroes generally have the same rarity and class (and in rare cases, zodiac signs) as their original counterpart, with the only difference being their elements. This version of Aither is a 4★ at base, compared to his Ice version who starts out as a 3★. That being said, you can still use 3★ Aither to upgrade the Memory Imprint of Guider Aither.

    Free Spirit Tieria
"Unsightly weeds... must be cut!"
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/epic_seven_free_spirit_tieria.png
Voiced by: Lisa Luck (English), Nanaka Suwa (Japanese)
Rarity: 4★
Element: Light
Class: Warrior
Zodiac Sign: Virgo

  • Cooldown Manipulation: The cooldown of "Energy Wave" is decreased by 1 when an enemy is defeated.
  • Crutch Character: From a Skill Gate Character due to how easy it is for new players to acquire her, an update on September 2020 made Free Spirit Tieria start out with max (+15) Skill Enhancements right off the bat.
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: She wears a thigh strap only on her right leg.
  • Informed Attractiveness: The in-game descriptions would repeatedly mention that Free Spirit Tieria is as beautiful as a flower, and likes to be complimented for her looks.
  • Jack of All Trades: Free Spirit Tieria is a "Jack-of-all-Trades, Master of None". While her kit covers most aspects, they aren't overly specialized. Since her abilities are all over the place, she's a Skill Gate Character who are outclassed by other Heroes late-game:
    • (Debuffer) Her first and third skills are single-target attacks that can decrease the enemy's attack and defense respectively.
    • (Farmer/Cleaver) Her second skill is an AoE attack that has its cooldown decreased when an enemy is defeated.
    • (Bruiser) Her second skill recovers HP and if her third skill is a critical hit, she gains debuff immunity.
  • Life Drain: Her "Energy Wave" skill recovers her HP proportional to the damage dealt.
  • Male Gaze: The animation of Free Spirit Tieria's third skill ends with a slight view of her bare back and shoulders.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: Moonlight Heroes generally have the same rarity and class (and in rare cases, zodiac signs) as their original counterpart, with the only difference being their elements. This version of Tieria is a 4★ at base, compared to her Fire version who starts out as a 3★. That being said, you can still use 3★ Tieria to upgrade the Memory Imprint of Free Spirit Tieria.
  • Mix-and-Match Weapon: Looks like a spear, but the extremely irregular shape of the blade makes it an axe more than a halberd.
  • Pimped-Out Dress: She wears a gown with a white-and-red color motif, and is split open at the center skirt.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Tieria's is just as gorgeous as always, even with her Pimped-Out Dress.
  • Sexy Backless Outfit: Tieria's new dress exposes her back.
  • Skill Gate Characters: Free Spirit Tieria is designed specifically for newer players who are unlucky on pulling higher rarity Moonlight cleavers (i.e. Arbiter Vildred, Blood Blade Karin, Celestial Mercedes), as her second skill serves an AoE wave clear that also heals herself and reset it's cooldown if she manages to defeat an enemy with it. However, she's easily outclassed by other Moonlight cleavers in terms of damage. Even Chaos Sect Axe, a 3★ Dark Warrior unit, is a significantly better Moonlight cleaver than her.
  • Simple, yet Awesome: Her kit is very straightforward for farming and cleaving (since her second skill also provide self-sustain) and doesn't offer any much special, but she's one of the better farmers and cleavers for most F2P players (which she is easily accessible via Connections). It also possible to max imprint her using extra copies of her fire version in her and the player does not need to build a lot of critical hit chance since her awakening and Imprint Concentration gives her critical hit chance.
  • Starter Mon: Heroes from Connections are obtained by completing quests. Most of them can be obtained very early on, making them good for beginners. An update on June 11, 2020 added Free Spirit Tieria to the Connections, and only requires clearing stage 2-10. She can be the first 4★ Moonlight Hero for players who are extremely unlucky with Moonlight summons.
  • Stealth Pun: Free Spirit Tieria was given out as a free 4★ Light Hero after you've completed her Connection Quest.

Past or Future

    Judge Kise
"Now is the time of repentance... Die!"
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/epic_seven_judge_kise.png
Voiced by: Anna Graves (English), Rie Tanaka (Japanese)
Rarity: 5★
Element: Light
Class: Warrior
Zodiac Sign: Virgo

  • The Chosen One: In the Sixth World, the Guardian Kromcruz is bound to Judge Kise, as seen on the Prologue's animated video when he was behind her.
  • Navel-Deep Neckline: Her dress has a plunging neckline that doesn't cover the center of her chest or her navel.
  • No Sense of Humor: She’s so focused on defeating the Archdemon in the Sixth World, that Vildred points this out on her when Kise tells everyone to take things seriously.
Vildred: You're always too serious, Kise. In a situation like this, laughing together is also important.
  • Orwellian Retcon: Judge Kise and Ruele of Light were initially listed under the "Old World Heirs" section of the Moonlight tab, but were moved into the "Past or Future" section, while their previous category had been erased.
  • Sinister Scythe: Her weapon, which is just as tall as her.

  • Expy: Specter Tenebria looks like a carbon copy of Remia from Isekai Cheat Magician, only that her limbs are darkened.
  • Fan Disservice: While she is still as sexy as her original self, if not showing more skin, her arms and legs are actually tainted... to the point where they look beastly and black.
  • For the Evulz: After being summoned into Reingar by Plum and Gusma, she destroys half of Reingar and gives an illusion of presidency to Plum, the security club member who summoned her. The destruction was undone by Kazran reversing time.
  • Hot Witch: She has magical powers and is definitely sexy still.
  • Magical Barefooter: Though the reason as to why she does not wear shoes compared with her pink-haired form is unknown.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Yet again, as expected of Tenebria. Although this trope can be zig-zagged in her Specter version's case - While she does show off more skin here, her limbs look corrupted, leading to the Fan Disservice trope.
  • Orwellian Retcon: Within the Moonlight tab of the Hero Journal, Specter Tenebria used to be categorized under the "Acolyte" section where she was the only listed character there. However, an update on mid-2020 moved her into the "Past or Future" section instead.
  • Power Degeneration: While she flees at the end of Chapter 2, later chapters reveal that she was unable to keep her current form at that time and had to find a new one.
  • Red Right Hand: Her arms and legs are blackened from her knees and elbows all the way down to her hands and feet. This disappears once she takes on her pink-haired appearance.
  • Sphere of Destruction: In her third skill, "Endless Nightmare", she throws a nightmare crystal at her opponent which explodes and expands on contact like a nuke.
  • The Stoic: She rarely shows any emotion in battle, even in her third skill's animation. This is a stark contrast to her counterpart self, who mostly smiles and laughs.
  • Trapped in Another World: She's the Acolyte summoned by Gusma and Plum in their attempts to have the latter become the President of Reingar.
  • The Worf Effect: Kazran easily undoes the destruction that she did... simply by rewinding time!

    Arbiter Vildred
"Can you hear the approaching ruin?"
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/epic_seven_arbiter_vildred.png
Voiced by: David Errigo Jr. (English), Hikaru Midorikawa (Japanese)
Rarity: 5★
Element: Dark
Class: Thief
Zodiac Sign: Leo

  • Auto-Revive: Arbiter Vildred's "Dark Contract" passive revives him with a significant portion of HP when he takes lethal damage.
  • Badass Longcoat: He wears a palette swap of his past self's coat, but with the same size.
  • Cooldown Manipulation: His "Dark Contract" passive also fully resets the cooldown of his third skill, "Dark Blade".
  • The Dark Side: Given that this is Vildred's post-Face–Heel Turn appearance, it made sense.
  • Empowered Badass Normal: Vildred may be the strongest normal human in Orbis, but absorbing the Archdemon's might gave him otherworldly powers.
  • Evil Makeover: It appears that the Archdemon also changed Vildred's sense of fashion, as he ditched his original black-red uniform to a white-purple version... Not to mention that his blade and its scabbard both sport a new design.
  • Herd-Hitting Attack: Just like his normal self, Arbiter Vildred specializes in AoE attacks.
  • Katanas Are Just Better: Still retains this fighting style even after Vildred had his Face–Heel Turn.
  • One-Winged Angel: Vildred turned into this after he stole the Archdemon Might for himself. Interestingly, he remains in this form from the end of Chapter 1 to the end of Chapter 10 (and his life).
  • Recurring Boss: He's battled thrice - once at the end of Chapters 1 and 7, as well as in Chapter 10-9 as the penultimate boss before Archdemon Mercedes (a.k.a. Mercedes possessed by Anghraf).
  • Purple Is Powerful: Is a Dark element hero, has purple colors in his clothing and skills, and is among one of the more powerful heroes in-game, both in-universe and in gameplay.
  • Razor Wind: Just like his original self, this is how he attacks. Only this time, the wind is purple for some reason.
  • Samurai Ponytail: Still keeps this hairstyle, but doesn't seem to be well-kempt unlike before.
  • The Worf Effect: At the end of the story, he is impaled from behind by Archdemon Mercedes's energy attack and is Deader than Dead.
  • Wake-Up Call Boss: In Episode 1, Arbiter Vildred's final boss fight encourages players to hit hard and survive long enough because he can revive himself after his first death, followed by his Area of Effect Limit Break that can decimate your team if you're left unprepared.

    Dark Corvus
"Archdemon... descend!"
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/epic_seven_dark_corvus.png
Voiced by: Matthew Mercer (English), Norio Wakamoto (Japanese)
Rarity: 5★
Element: Dark
Class: Warrior
Zodiac Sign: Capricorn

  • Badass Cape: Although torn and black, it fits his Black Knight aesthetics perfectly.
  • Black Knight: His physical appearance is one to this trope, complete with a pitch-black armor, and red eyes.
  • Face–Heel Turn: In the past, he has lost faith in the Goddess and turned towards the Archdemon.
  • Horny Vikings: Invoked, and also combined with the Black Knight trope. He wears a horned helmet, has a fur pelt, and wields an axe.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: Moonlight Heroes generally have the same rarity and class (and in rare cases, zodiac signs) as their original counterpart, with the only difference being their elements. This version of Corvus is a 5★ at base, compared to his Fire version who starts out as a 4★. That being said, you can still use 4★ Corvus to upgrade the Memory Imprint of Dark Corvus.
  • Pelts of the Barbarian: He wears a black-furred barbarian coat in his shoulders.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning:
    • His helmet's visor glows red.
    • For some reason, his shield has red glowing eyes as well.

Voiced by: Erica Lindbeck (English), Ami Koshimizu (Japanese)
Rarity: 5★
Element: Light
Class: Soul Weaver
Zodiac Sign: Pisces

  • Barrier Warrior: Ruele cast a barrier during the final battle of the Sixth World to protect her allies. Unfortunately, the Archdemon shattered it, killing her and the rest of the Heirs.
  • Casual Danger Dialogue: As shown in the Prologue, Ruele still had a time to share and read fortune cookies with Ras and Vildred, the latter surprised that she brought cookies there. Judge Kise had to keep everyone focused in their goal.
  • The Chosen One:
    • Of the Guardian Zeaon, at least in the Sixth World.
    • Ruele is also the champion of the Spirit Lord Destina. This is the reason why Destina took on the appearance of Ruele out of respect for her fallen friend as she travels in the Seventh World.
  • Orwellian Retcon: Judge Kise and Ruele of Light were initially listed under the "Old World Heirs" section of the Moonlight tab, but were moved into the "Past or Future" section, while their previous category had been erased.
  • Posthumous Character: Is prominent for a bit in the intro. But since that is a backstory and that the main plot takes place in the seventh world, she is relegated into this.
  • Red Baron: She's also known as the "Saint of Light".
  • Significant Double Casting: Ruele and Destina are both voiced by Erica Lindbeck and Ami Koshimizu because Destina took on the appearance of Ruele out of respect.
  • The X of Y: Her name, which is followed by "of Light".

  • Braids of Action: One side of her hair has this.
  • Cast from Hit Points: Blood Blade Karin's third skill, "Blade Art: Dragon", consumes 20% of her health upon activation. Fortunately, the health loss can be mitigated once she attacks with her "Sequential Cover" ability, thanks to its Life Drain effect.
  • Cool Sword: Her cursed blade has a bloody red coloration, and its scabbard has multiple seals in it.
  • Critical Status Buff: Her "Cursed Blade" passive proprotionally boosts her attack, defense and speed the lower her health dips down.
  • Draw Sword, Draw Blood: The lore for her weapon, a cursed magical sword that is thirsty for blood.
  • Eyepatch of Power: Wears an eyepatch on one side.
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: Wears a thigh band on her left.
  • Gameplay and Story Integration: Her weapon is noted in-lore to be hungry for blood, this translates to a gameplay mechanic where her first skil, "Sequential Cutter", heals Karin for the same amount of damage dealt.
  • Herd-Hitting Attack: "Blade Art: Dragon" hits all of her enemies on the other side of the screen.
  • Iaijutsu Practitioner: Shares the same fighting style as Karin.
  • Life Drain: Each hit of basic attack restores a portion of her HP.
  • Orwellian Retcon: Within the Moonlight tab of the Hero Journal, Blood Blade Karin used to be categorized under the "Alternate" section. However, an update on mid-2020 moved her into the "Past or Future" section instead.
  • Public Domain Artifact: The whole deal about the cursed sword and its effect on Karin, is inspired from the legend of the blood-hungry sword, Muramasa.
  • Slasher Smile: This version of Karin constantly sports a psychotic smile compared to her original self.
  • Split Personality: Blood Blade Karin acts as this for the original.
  • Weapon Wields You: Using the cursed blade brought out the aggressive and cold-hearted side of Karin, who is compelled to kill more than her cheerful self.

  • Area of Effect: Two of her skills hit all enemies at once.
  • Braids of Action: One of the differences she had from the original Mercedes is that she has longer hair tied up in braids and is as capable a sorceress as her.
  • Cleavage Window: Her new outfit exposes this part.
  • Cool Crown: A tiara to be exact, but it sure does look like a three-pronged crown.
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: There's a thigh band on her right leg.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: She uses a very unique item (that can only be obtained in the story) to increase her Memory Imprints. That item also becomes Too Awesome to Use since the original Mercedes can also use it for her imprints too.
  • Ms. Fanservice: While the original Meru is also an example of this trope, Celestial Mercedes shows more skin than her thanks to having a strapless variant of the former's dress that bares her cleavage.
  • Sean Connery Is About to Shoot You: This is her pose in the animation just before she fires her third skill, "Finale".
  • Sexy Backless Outfit: As shown on her battle sprite, her top has the same lack of a back as the original Meru.
  • Spell Book: She uses this to cast magic.
  • Too Awesome to Use: Mercedes requires a unique item for her Memory Imprints. That item is only obtainable in certain stages and thus come with a limited amount, but players are more likely using it on Celestial Mercedes instead since she's a Moonlight Hero.
