Characters / Digimon - Crack Team

Go To

The Crack Team is a cover army of Digimon all created by the works of a team of hackers with unknown purposes. After the events of the Digimon Pendulum storyline, the Crack Team seemed to be involved with the creation of the Metal Empire as a whole. Their leader primarily uses Chaosdramon as its agent, with Machinedramon and Gundramon serving combat roles, Aegisdramon performing reconnaissance, and GigaSeadramon serving to expand their influence over the Net Ocean.

While many Digimon are presumed to have been created by the Crack Team hackers, this page mainly focuses on the main creations of the team. As a side note, this group image taken during a 2022 interview includes several more Digimon that were previously not considered official members of the group (here's a translated, higher-quality version).

Tropes that apply to the Crack Team as a whole:

    Chaosdramon

Chaosdramon (Chaosdromon)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chaosdramon.png
Debut: Digital Monster Card Game
Attacks: (Original) Hyper Mugennote  Cannon, Chaos Crusher, Destroyed Hook; (Dub) Hyper Attack/Hyper Infinity Cannon, Chaos Crusher, Destroyed Hook

It is said that Machinedramon, who was built by combining the parts of many Cyborg-species Digimon, demonstrated abilities beyond imagination, and that the experiment succeeded. Adding enhancements to further improve that Machinedramon made it Chaosdramon, who possesses a deep crimson Metal Body. Its body, which is made of "Red Digizoid" that was repurified from the virtual super-metal Chrome Digizoid and increased just its hardness, deflects every attack, and destroys everything. The version of the program that was set in its Digicore automatically performs improvements to make it even more destructive. Chaosdramon is also the Digimon that the leader of the Crack Team primarily employs as its agent.

Chaosdramon appears as one of Barbamon's Commandments in Digimon Next.

  • Arm Cannon: "Destroyed Hook" involves a missile fired from its right hand.
  • BFG: Two, just like Machinedramon.
  • Evolving Weapon: Chaosdramon's Digicore enacts improvements to Chaosdramon's body, making it even more deadly.
  • Inconsistent Spelling: Its dub name in a Digimon Data Collection segment from Digimon Fusion is "Chaosdromon" instead of "Chaosdramon". While it undercuts its nature as a dramon-species Digimon, it's not egregious enough to be considered a "Blind Idiot" Translation.
  • Law of Chromatic Superiority: It's red, it's superior to Machinedramon, and it's covered in the super-hard Red Digizoid.
  • Mythology Gag: "Chaos Lord" from Digimon World 2 is stated to be the first Chaosdramon.
  • Olympus Mons: Implied. Machinedramon was one of the Dark Masters, and Chaosdramon is a superior version of it.
  • Our Dragons Are Different: Like Machinedramon before it, a "-Dramon" type digimon.
  • Plague Master: "Destroyed Hook" injects a virus into its victim.
  • Shoulder Cannon: Just like with Machinedramon, which face backwards, but can be rotated around to fire its "Hyper Mugen Cannon".
  • Super Prototype: Averted in its relationship to Machinedramon. Machinedramon was the previous model, but Chaosdramon is the clear improvement.
  • Tron Lines: It sports a few on its shoulders, thighs, abdomen and tail, all of which are unarmored.
  • Unobtanium: It goes a bit further beyond just being covered in Chrome Digizoid: its armor is Red Digizoid, which boasts superior defensive power and hardness.
  • Wave-Motion Gun: "Hyper Mugen Cannon".

Chaosdramon X (Chaosdramon (X-Antibody))

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chaosdramonx.png
Debut: Digital Monster Card Game
Attacks: Hyper Mugennote  Cannon, Super Genocide Attack, Chaos Crusher, Genocide Attack

Although it exhibits several times the power and firepower compared to fellow Ultimate Machinedramon, it is difficult to tame due to it being destructive and autonomous, so it chooses its own user. By sacrificing its speed with the weight of its "Red Digizoid", it acquired its "Super Genocide Attack", where it seizes the enemy with the "Chaos Crusher" on its right arm, breaks open their armor, and launches organic missiles stored in a portion of that arm at their insides. Its suicidal and terrifying point-blank shooting is also possible thanks to its "Red Digizoid" body.

    GigaSeadramon

GigaSeadramon

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gigaseadramon.png
Debut: Digimon Pendulum X 1.0
Attacks: Giga Sea Destroyer, Sky Wave

As a successful elaboration on Metal Seadramon, it demonstrates the fastest speed of movement and strongest ability for interception under the sea. In order to further expand its sphere of influence, the Crack Team constructed this massive Digimon in absolute secrecy and endowed it with the ability to control the sea and possession of a cruising range which covers the vast Net Ocean. Its overall length exceeds even that of Whamon, and since Digimon belonging to the Crack Team, such as Chaosdramon, can be loaded in its interior, it is no longer a lone Digimon, and it seems possible to say that it is an assault landing ship for which it isn't known when and where it will appear on the Net Ocean, or when it will launch an attack.

  • Cybernetic Mythical Beast: It's a sea serpent so heavily cyborgized to be able to serve as a submarine carrier ship.
  • Full-Conversion Cyborg: Relative to MetalSeadramon — this thing is far more machine than serpent by this point. Where MetalSeadramon still has hair and organic insides, GigaSeadramon's interior has been converted into an entirely mechanical carrier. Even its eyes have a robotic look to them.
  • Living Ship: By way of being a Sea Monster modified and enhanced to the point of being able to hold other Digimon in its body and carry them from place to place.
  • Sea Serpents: A biomechanical sea serpent.
  • Unusual Weapon Mounting: It has a gun in its mouth.

    Megadramon

Megadramon

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/megadramon.jpg
Attacks: Genocide Attack, Ultimate Slicer

A dark dragon Digimon that is said to boast the strongest, wickedest power among Dragon-type Cyborg Digimon of the Perfect level. As a Digimon that was artificially remodeled by someone, it was programmed to destroy everything. It can definitely be said that its existence is the epitome of a computer virus. It can easily penetrate Computer Networks protected by strong security, and can very easily destroy and then completely reformat the host computer.

Notable tamers that have had Megadramon include Neo Saiba, Maki Himekawa, and Takuma Momozuka.

  • Blow You Away: Slashes the enemy with its claws, or uses its arms to send vacuum blades at the enemy.
  • Cyborg: Its classified as a Cyborg Digimon and has cybernetic hands.
  • Hand Blast: It can fire missiles from its claws.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Its "Metal Arm" where it stabs the enemy with its arm.
  • Macross Missile Massacre: Its "Genocide Attack" shoots a barrage of missiles from its arms.
  • Sinister Scythe: Its "Mega Death Scythe" where it extends a scythe from one claw and slices enemy with it.

    Gigadramon

Gigadramon

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gigadramon.jpg
Debut: Digimon Worldnote
Attacks: Genocide Attack, Genocide Gear, Guilty Claw

A dark dragon Digimon developed at the same time as Megadramon. As a combat dragon that was armed to the teeth by further remodeling, its existence is the epitome of a fiendish computer virus.

  • Blow You Away: Its "Guilty Claw" uses its Giga Hands to send a blade of air at the enemy.
  • Cyborg: Its classified as a Cyborg Digimon. It's also more of one than Megadramon, having mechanical wings where Megadramon still has organic ones.
  • Hand Blast: Its "Energy Shot" fires energy beams from its hand.
  • Macross Missile Massacre: Its "Genocide Gear" shoots a barrage of missiles from its claws and Genocide Attack is exactly identical to Genocide Gear.
  • Non-Mammalian Hair: It has short purple hair.
  • Palette Swap: It is one for Megadramon, replacing the blue hair with purple hair, the red and orange skin with purple skin and the natural wings with mechanical ones.
  • Playing with Fire: Its "Giga Heat" radiates a heat wave from its body.

    MetalSeadramon
MetalSeadramon has been a member of the Dark Masters long before being revealed as a Crack Team Digimon. For tropes involving this Digimon, see their respective page.

    MetalTyrannomon

MetalTyrannomon (MetalTyranomon)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/metaltyrannomon.png

A Cyborg Digimon that remodeled its body in order to acquire mightier powers. After Megadramon was remodeled for anti-air use, Metal Tyranomon was remodeled as an anti-ground interceptor Digimon. Its reinforced body deflects all attacks, and it possesses the terrifying offensive power to smash through armor with its sturdy chin, no matter how hard it may be.

One is under the ownership of Tagiru Akashi.

  • Arm Cannon: Its "Giga Destroyer II" fires a large missile from its right hand.
  • Cyborg: It's a heavily cyborgized Tyranomon, its body augmented with mechanical components, metallic plates and assorted cables to turn it into a living weapon.
  • Hand Blast: Its "Nuclear Laser" fires a beam from its left hand.

MetalTyrannomon X (MetalTyranomon (X-Antibody))

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/metaltyranomonx.jpg

Although its roughness is more noticeable than Metal Greymon's, who is recognized by everyone as having "ultra-high performance" among remodeled Digimon, it boasts the best performance in destructive activity on land. The original Tyranomon's durability has endured excessive remodeling by the Crack Team, and its ferocity has transformed into tremendous offensive power, so those remodeled contents have been fully drawn out. While its enhanced claws are no match for Metal Greymon's "Trident Arm VER. 9.9", a control program similar to VER. 7.0 is set in its Digicore (incidentally, this is a specification that is more than necessary for hand-to-hand combat) and the excess energy is fired from its left arm as its "Nuclear Laser II".

  • Always Second Best: Even after its extensive remodelling, it's still not a match for MetalGreymon's power.
  • Arm Cannon: The cannons in its hands are much more prominent now. Its "Giga Destroyer II" fires a large missile from its right hand.
  • Dinosaurs Are Dragons: Described as a dragon by one of its cards.
  • Hand Blast: Its "Nuclear Laser" fires a beam from its left hand and "Nuclear Laser II" fires excess energy from its left hand.

    Machinedramon
Machinedramon has been a member of the Dark Masters long before being revealed as a Crack Team Digimon. For tropes involving this Digimon, see their respective page.

    Gundramon
Gundramon is a member of the Three Musketeers as well as being of the Crack Team. For tropes involving this Digimon, see their respective page.

    Aegisdramon

Aegisdramon

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/aegisdramon.jpg
Debut: Digimon Story: Lost Evolution
Attacks: Tera Hydro Breath, Shine Breaker, Power Water, Blaze Power and Energy Cannon

A Cyborg Digimon born from the fusion of a Plesiomon with Seadramon-species data. It is said that its shining armor, made of a golden Chrome Digizoid alloy, will purify all evil. It is a member of the Crack Team, and is mainly in charge of analyzing information on the enemy and reconnaissance. It is also known as the brains of the Crack Team due to the fact that the analyzed information is quickly sent to the Crack Team deployed to its surroundings, giving them the advantage in combat situations. In addition, it conceals sufficient firepower to enable battalion-class annihilation warfare, even when acting alone.

  • Macross Missile Massacre: Its "Blaze Power" attack fires homing missiles from its deck. Also, one of two ways it's "Shine Breaker" attack works.
  • Making a Splash: "Tera Hydro Breath" is a water-based Breath Weapon while "Power Water" fires water from its cannons.
  • Walking Armory: It has enough firepower to enable battalion-class annihilation warfare, even when acting alone.

    HiAndromon

HiAndromon

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hiandromon.png
Debut: D-Terminal
Attacks: (Original) Atomic Ray, Spiral Sword, Copy Paste; (Dub) Atomic Ray, Lightning Blade, Copy Paste

HiAndromon was perfected by improving the incomplete Andromon. The percentage of Chrome Digizoid parts which compose its body has increased, and it is impossible to miss the extent of its gains in offensive and defensive power from this, compared to Andromon. Additionally, as Andromon it was incomplete, and by adding Chrome Digizoid parts to the Bio-Synapse circuits which govern its thinking, it became self-aware, making it possible for it to execute its objectives. Because it is both a Vaccine-species and a Cyborg, its attacks against Virus-types are not only fearfully accurate but also intense.

According to the D-Power line, it is the Mega form of Hirokazu Shiota (Kazu Shioda)'s Guardromon from Digimon Tamers. It is also the canon Mega form of Aiba in Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth, should they have picked Hagurumon.

  • Power Source: Those shoulder pads are fission reactors, which it draws energy from for its Atomic Ray attack.
  • Unobtanium: Chrome Digizoid, once again.
  • Weapon of X-Slaying: Whenever it goes against a Virus-type.

    MetalGreymon (Virus)

MetalGreymon (Virus)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/metalgreymonvirus.png
Debut: Digital Monster Ver. 1
Attacks: Trident Arm, Giga Destroyer

The strongest Cyborg Digimon, which has mechanized more than half of its body. Going through numerous battles, it was able to survive by mechanizing its body. In order to evolve to Metal Greymon, it must fight its way through and defeat the formidable opponents who come against it. Also, Metal Greymon's offensive power is said to equal that of a single nuclear warhead. It fires missiles from the hatch on part of its chest.

While Taichi's Agumon in Digimon Adventure does not normally go into this form, it did Dark Evolve into MetalGreymon (Virus) when the Digimon Kaiser forced it to.

  • Chest Blaster: Its "Giga Destroyer" shoots organic missiles from a hatch in its chest.
  • Cyborg: Its left arm and most of its chest, head and upper jaw have been replaced with mechanical implants.
  • Cybernetics Eat Your Soul: It was a regular Greymon that became corrupted by its attempt to evolve into a mechanical being, transforming into a powerful and dangerous Virus-attribute being.
  • Extendable Arms: Its "Trident Arm" where it launches its retractable Trident Arm on a cable.
  • Ninja Pirate Zombie Robot: A cyborg dinosaur.
  • Out of Focus: The Virus version is among the first Digimon ever released, alongside Agumon and Greymon. The vaccine version wouldn't be introduced until two years later. Despite this, the vaccine version is featured more prominently, overshadowing its virus counterpart. That said, it does regularly appear in video games and v-pets, and it got an X-Antibody form in 2019 that heavily inspired the vaccine form's Alterous Mode, so it's far from forgotten. And this was all before it was confirmed as a member of the Crack Team.
  • Palette Swap: In a twist on the trope, although it is typically portrayed as a blue recolor of the regular orange Vaccine-attribute MetalGreymon in media following the anime, MetalGreymon (Virus) technically came first — the regular Vaccine-attribute MetalGreymon was created later as a heroic counterpart to it, and subsequently came to be treated as the default version while the original was retooled into being the Virus variant of the line.
  • Playing with Fire: Its "Revenge Flame" unleashes a wave of fire from its Trident Arm.

MetalGreymon X (Virus) (MetalGreymon (Virus) (X-Antibody))

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/metalgreymon_virusx.jpg

Introduced in: Digital Monster X Ver. 2
Attacks: Energy Blitz, Pandemic Destroyer

Each of its mechanized portions have been updated; in particular, its "Alteros", the enhanced and remodeled Trident Arm on its left arm, is capable of switching between Blitz Mode and Blast Mode. Also, it has been equipped with an energy booster that, at its maximum output, lets it exceed the speed of sound.

  • Arm Cannon: Its mechanical left arm is replaced with a Wave-Motion Tuning Fork called the Alteros.
  • Flaming Hair: Its mane is now on fire.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Its "Energy Blitz" where it flies at critical velocity, and pierces the enemy in its Blitz Mode.
  • Palette Swap: Of MetalGreymon X-Antibody.
  • Poisonous Person: Its "Pandemic Destroyer" fires viral energy in its Blast Mode. The virus in this technique is infectious and toxic enough to be designated as a disaster, and is said to completely corrode the configuration data within a Digicore even if it is simply scratched.
  • Wave-Motion Tuning Fork: The Alteros fires energy blasts from between two serrated prongs.

    MetalMamemon

MetalMamemon

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/metalmamemon_5.png

A Cyborg Digimon that evolved further in strength than Mamemon, who holds the alias of "Smiley Bomber". As usual, if one is deceived by its cute appearance, they will have a terrible experience. Nine-tenths of its body is mechanized, and its Special Move "Energy Bomb", which is fired from the Psycho Blaster equipped to its left arm, possesses tremendous destructive force which is able to reliably bring down the opponent.

  • Arm Cannon: Its left arm ends in an energy cannon called the Psycho Blaster.
  • Cephalothorax: Like the other Mamemon variants.
  • Pint-Sized Powerhouse: Much like the regular Mamemon, MetalMamemon is a tiny Digimon with powers befitting an Ultimate-level.
  • Having a Blast: Its "Energy Bomb" shoots a destructive energy blast from the Psycho Blaster and "Magnet Beam" fires a beam from its Psycho Blaster that causes a fiery explosion.
  • Wolverine Claws: It has a Freddy Krueger-esque glove on its right hand. Its "Shaft Spike" where it slashes the enemy with its claws.

MetalMamemon X (MetalMamemon (X-Antibody))

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/metalmamemon_x.jpg

Its mechanization and shift to hi-tech has progressed, so 99% of its body has become cyborg. When it comes to battle, it defeats the enemy by reliably performing commands such as attacking, defending and moving. The Psycho Blaster has also become hi-tech, and fires its "Energy Laser Bomb", a unique explosive laser, allowing it to instantly sweep away enemies.

  • Energy Weapon: Its "Energy Laser Bomb" fires an explosive laser from its Psycho Blaster.
  • Having a Blast: Its "Energy Bomb" fires an explosive ball of energy from its Psycho Blaster.

    Espimon
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/600px_espimon.jpg
Debut: Vital Bracelet Digital Monster
Attacks: Mot Bomb

A Cyborg Digimon that catches wind of gossip and suspicion flowing into the Digital World and immediately flies in to investigate. It will bravely go undercover in order to find out the truth, even in places inhabited by dangerous Digimon. When it switches its eyes to Search Mode, it is able to clearly see objects several kilometers away. Also, it activates its "Dyvanish", which applies optical camouflage to its body, by pressing the switch on its abdomen, and blends in with the landscape, allowing it to perform reconnaissance without being discovered. Rumor has it that the Crack Team measures cracking ability by controlling Espimon, but it is unclear whether this is true or not.

Espimon is partnered to Hiro Amanokawa and an unnamed Tamer in Digimon Project 2021.

  • Chameleon Camouflage: Its Dyvanish ability allows it to blend into any landscape using its built-in technology.
  • Intrepid Reporter: It explores the Digital World to uncover the truth behind rumors without regard for its own safety.
  • Stealth Expert: It uses its camouflage to perform reconnaissance and its Mot Bomb can be used to create decoys while it evades enemies.
  • Super-Senses: While using its Search Mode, it can see objects several kilometers away with no difficulty.
  • Throw Down the Bomblet: Its Mot Bomb is a small bomb it releases that resembles Botamon.

    HoverEspimon
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/600px_hoverespimon.jpg
Debut: Vital Bracelet Digital Monster
Attacks: Stamper Missile, Breast Cannon, Doronger

Espimon, who succeeded in numerous investigations, has become highly mobile so that it can obtain more accurate information. It can now navigate over long distances, fly, and dive, and its habitat extends to the depths of the "Net Ocean" and altitudes of up to 20,000m, making it possible for it to investigate hidden Digimon. Its "Dyvanish" optical camouflage has also been updated. It masks the sounds it makes along with its appearance, and is capable of going undercover or causing a disturbance without being noticed, even when maneuvering at high speeds. Thanks to the VR Goggles on its brow, the target's movements after a few seconds are predictively displayed, allowing it to act with precision. Also, it is rumored to be used by the Crack Team for intelligence operations in various locations.

HoverEspimon is Espimon's natural evolution and is partnered to Hiro Amanokawa.

  • Chameleon Camouflage: Its Dyvanish is improved from Espimon's, now concealing the sounds it makes in addition to its body.
  • Chest Blaster: It has two guns built into its chestplate, which it uses for its Breast Cannon attack.
  • Heads-Up Display: Its VR goggles allow it to use one of these to predict its targets' movements.
  • Smoke Out: Its Doronger is a smokescreen that it uses to hide itself and its allies.
  • Stealth Expert: Its upgraded camouflage allows it to go undetected even when moving at high speed.
