Characters / Digimon - D-Brigade

Go To

The D-Brigade is a mechanized brigade consisting of Dragon-type Cyborg Digimon, and is a special force that is dispatched on missions that are never made public. Its main infantry is composed of Commandramon, but those who pass the "Selection-D" test, the top 1%, are selected to become the Sealsdramon used for assassinating "Targets". Tankdramon, who specialize in group "Target" extermination, are used for riot-suppression and assault-extermination, and the sole Tankdramon to have been shot down during a sortie is believed to have been retrieved from its failed operation to eliminate "Codename: BAN-TYO" and brought back to a D-Brigade research facility, where it digivolved into what became the D-Brigade's weapon of last resort, Darkdramon, before escaping.

The D-Brigade mainly consisted of a single evolutionary line with every member being a part of this group until the release of Digimon Seekers in 2023 which adds three new members to this organization. They include Hi-Commandramon, the evolution of the Commandramons that were unable to pass the "Selection-D" test. Cargodramon, who acts as the brigade's troop transport. And finally, the aerial support Brigadramon created after Darkdramon proved to be too powerful and uncontrollable.

Note that this page only includes Digimon who are explicitly members of the D-Brigade in their profiles. So it doesn't include Bombmon and Missimon, who are both only considered candidates for the group, or Armormon and Cannondramon, who are members in Digimon Crusader.

Tropes that apply to the D-Brigade as a whole:

  • Arch-Enemy: They serve as this to the BAN-TYO Digimon, aiming to eliminate them.
  • Cyborg: The D-Brigade's members are all given cybernetic enhancements to make them more reliable in combat.
  • Fantastic Rank System: Most of the troops are Commandramon, with a select few being upgraded to Sealsdramon.
  • Ninja Pirate Zombie Robot: They're cyborg dragon soldiers.
  • Our Dragons Are Different: All of them are dramon-type Digimon with a theme that mixes both police squads and military.

It is equipped with radar which is able to lock onto thirty "Targets" simultaneously, and if one Tankdramon supplements its "Targets" by data-linking to other Tankdramon, it is said to be impossible to escape. Also, its mission survival rate is very high, and it is said that so far only one has ever been shot down during a sortie.

  • Gatling Good: It's "Blast Gatling" where it uses the guns on its sides, which fires 3,600 shots per second.

Debut: Digital Monster Card Game Digitalize Booster Packnote
Attacks: (Original) Dark Roar, Gigastick Lance, Demon Stab, Terrible Gaze; (Dub) Dark Roar, Giga Stick Lance/Gigantic Lance/Lasers of Light, Demon Stab, Terrible Gaze

A Cyborg Digimon which is believed to be the weapon of last resort for the mechanized "D-Brigade". Although this is information that stubbornly remains part of the rumor mill, it is said that a Tankdramon, shot down during an operation to eliminate a "target" designated "Codename: BAN-TYO", was retrieved and evolved to Darkdramon at the D-Brigade research facility it was left at. It seems that on the verge of its evolution, a large quantity of "Dark Matter" was applied, and after its evolution it ran wild and broke out, so currently even the D-Brigade cannot secure Darkdramon's whereabouts. It is said that even now it is hunting "Codename: BAN-TYO"...Its right hand is equipped with the "Gigastick Lance", which rivals Dukemon's holy lance "Gram".

  • Arch-Nemesis: To Codename: BAN-TYO. Darkdramon premiered at the same time as the first of the Bancho Digimon, BanchoLeomon.
  • Came Back Wrong: It is rumored to have evolved through remodeling an injured Tankdramon. However, the process left it single-mindedly sd on completing its mission regardless of the cost.
  • Casting a Shadow: "Dark Roar", which fires off a giant ball of Dark Matter.
  • The Corruption: Dark Matter, here.
  • Dark Is Evil: It's a rampaging beast created from an experiment Gone Horribly Right.
  • Evil Counterpart: Its profile makes the Gigastick Lance this to Dukemon's lance, Gram.
  • Eye Beams: "Terrible Gaze" in which it shoots a strange beam from the eyes on its right gauntlet to numb the enemy.
  • Gone Horribly Right: Its reconstruction went a bit too well for the D-Brigade. And as Chaosmon shows, it eventually found BanchoLeomon alright.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: "Gigastick Lance" and "Demon Stab".
  • Jousting Lance: The Gigastick Lance.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: Towards "Codename: BAN-TYO", which is obviously BanchoLeomon.
  • We Can Rebuild Him: Rumor abounds that it was once a Tankdramon who got rebuilt after being shot down.

Digipolice

    Hi-Commandramon

Hi-Commandramon

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hicommandramon.jpg
Debut: Digimon Reference Book

A Heavy Infantry Digimon from the mechanized "D-Brigade". It is said that many of those that were not chosen in "Selection-D", a special selection that screens through a hundred Commandramon, evolve into Hi-Commandramon. Its main role is to act as a shield, and defend assault squadrons of Commandramon with its enormous build and protective shield. The surface of its skin has been modified with a special texture, just like Commandramon, and has the function of displaying its surrounding colors in real time.

  • Barrier Warrior: Either through their large bulk or their riot shield, they serve as one.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: First mentioned in Cargodramon's profile in the Digimon Reference Book, a month before its own was put up.
  • Elite Mooks: Not as elite as Sealsdramon, but still tougher than Commandramon.
  • Expy: To Greymon, the large Dinosaur monster with an armored shell over their head.
  • Luckily, My Shield Will Protect Me: They are equipped with huge riot shields to protect themselves and their allies.

    Cargodramon

Cargodramon

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cargodramon_5.jpg

A Digimon in charge of troop transport for the mechanized "D-Brigade". It is said to have evolved by taking in the design data of real-life tiltrotor aircraft obtained via hacking. It has excellent maneuverability that allows it to hover and fly at high-speed by adjusting the angle of the propellers on both of its wings. Cargodramon's fuselage has a cargo hold, and on normal missions, it often houses a squad of five Commandramon and one Hi-Commandramon. Also, if the cargo hold is empty, it can carry a single Tankdramon by suspending the wires under its fuselage.

  • Animal-Vehicle Hybrid: It's a fusion of a dragon and a troop transport helicopter.
  • Awesome Personnel Carrier: It can only carry a half dozen troops at a time, but it's hardly defenseless and is a cyborg dragon on top of it.
  • Helicopter Blender: Downplayed. It can slice things with its propellers at the risk of damaging them and so only does so as a last resort.
  • Hollywood Cyborg: Organic tissue can be seen in the gaps in its armor and its hydraulics are partly made from bones.
  • Gatling Good: Its primary attack is to fire the gattling gun on its underside.

    Brigadramon

Brigadramon

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/brigadramon_7.jpg
Debut: Vital Bracelet BE
Attacks: Genocide Rain, Exa Destroyer

D-Brigade had previously completed a Mega Digimon as a weapon of last resort, but this individual caused a fiasco when it broke out after running wild. After reflecting on their failure to produce the strongest and most outstanding Digimon to represent their organization, Brigadramon is the Digimon that they had evolved and developed as a command aircraft for managing troops efficiently. Brigadramon circles above its mission area, searching for and destroying threats on the ground or at low altitudes. Once a major threat has been eliminated, Cargodramon carrying squadrons will descend, deploying Commandramon, Hi-Commandramon, and Tankdramon on the ground. Brigadramon circles the sky until its mission is complete, continuously commanding the deployed troops and performing reconnaissance. Its special moves are strafing with high-explosive projectiles shot at a speed of 4,800 rounds per second using the huge Gatling cannon on its right arm, and organic missiles housed within the claws on its left hand. For a time, D-Brigade had lost their reputation due to the fiasco, but after the deployment of Brigadramon, their operational success has improved, and their troop loss rate has dropped significantly, so they are starting to regain their former reputation. There are also reports that three Bigadramon are currently in commission, and that number is expected to further increase in the future.

  • Expy: The WarGreymon of its evolutionary line since it's a humanoid dragon Digimon.
  • Mission Control: Serves as one in the field for the rest of the D-Brigade.
  • Superior Successor: To Darkdramon, as far as the D-Brigade are concerned. For one thing, it's less troublesome, and has restored their reputation.
