Team Kira
Kira's allies and Shinigami... Light Yagami / Kira
Voiced by: kpts4tv
- Abhorrent Admirer: L feels this way about Light's crush on him.
- Affably Evil: He may be a Serial Killer but he’s also very polite and a snazzy dresser.
- Aggressive Submissive: he's a Serial Killer who wants to be God so he is very domineering of the people around him but when it comes to relationships he almost never comes out on top. This is especially apparent in his pursuit of L who he attempts to seduce in Femme Fatale fashion.
- Armored Closet Gay: during his Memory Gambit when he's forced back into the closet he becomes very quick to anger, Axe-Crazy, and violently protective of Misa.
- Atrocious Alias: Kira, Light's worldwide alias can mean "glitter" in Japanese.
- Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!:Ryuk: ...now what you need to know about the Shinigami eye deal is...Light: (thinking) ...shoes... I need to get shoes...
- Axe-Crazy: Ironically Light is pretty mellow most of the time he acts as Kira but during his Memory Gambit he takes to loudly and frequently calling for Higuchi’s blood after he comes to believe he’s slept with his girlfriend.
- Bad "Bad Acting": Light when Higuchi dies. "Oh right, cover... Dad, you idiot! We needed him alive!" Made even more hilarious since he had been calling for his blood moments before.
- The Bad Guy Wins: In one alternate ending Light succeeds at killing the rest of the taskforce and the SPK and then goes out for frozen yogurt to celebrate afterwards.
- Bad Liar:Light: No one is listening to you, Ryuk.Sayu: What does Ryuk mean?Light: Uh, It's my new name for you. It means Kesha in Japanese.

- Butt-Monkey
- Camp Gay: So very much. "Cast member with the most clothes? Definitely Light."
- Casanova Wannabe: Light when trying to convince Kiyomi that he's straight.
- Casual Kink: Light apparently fantasizes about getting kidnapped by a hot guy in leather. You can blame Raye Penber for the stalking fantasy and Ryuk for the leather fetish.
- Childhood Friends: Light and Miki were buddies in high school.
- Cloud Cuckoo Lander: Light spontaneously breaks out into song in the middle of his class
- Cosmic Plaything: Literally. He's also The Scapegoat for the Shinigami's plan to take over the Earth.
- Crazy Jealous Guy: Light towards L. Light happily resumes his plan to kill L after hearing that L "took Matsuda's innocence" after repeatedly rebuffing Light's advances. Also Light towards Misa during Light’s Memory Gambit after Misa returns from her job interview and informs them all that she met a God in the bathroom.L: Well Light, you're taking this rather well.Light: I'm gonna kill that son of *bleeeeeeeep*
- Creepy Crossdresser: Misa begs Light to let her wear his lolita maid costume.Misa: Light and I wear the same underwear sometimes!

- Did You Just Romance Cthulhu?: With Ryuk.
- Didn't Think This Through:Light: Wow, a book that drives people crazy when they touch it! (*touches the notebook*) Death Note? What is this like an advanced calculus notebook or something? I'm so gonna walk around and touch everyone with this and drive 'em... oh, right. I didn't think this one through.
- Ditzy Genius: "Oh my God I forgot my death note!"

- Evil Laugh: Naturally.
- Family-Values Villain: Light is outraged over Near's poor manners.Light: He was supposed to call me back! I wanted to gloat some more before my flash mob tore him apart! A child I have never met before LIED to me! His parents should've taught him better... Oh! Oh, orphan. Right.

- Go Mad from the Revelation:
- A God Am I: Just like his canon characterization.
- Half-Human Hybrid: it reasons that Light is one since his father Souichiro is revealed to be a Shinigami.
- Heel–Face Door-Slam: Light realizes too late that the Shinigami were playing him for a fool and since they are already controlling him he can't even hope to stop them or redeem himself. "Light's final wish before he died was to be buried in the same coffin as L. L is rolling over in his grave as we speak."
- Henpecked Husband: Light for Takada.Takada: Ten minutes Light. Ten minutes before I start writing your name!Light: With what paper... Ooh. We need to go. Now.Souichiro possessing Aizawa: Maybe if you're lucky she'll give you your nads back.Light: Just get the car!
- Hoist by His Own Petard : The Shinigami use the same Stupidity-Inducing Attack on him that he used on Misa.
- Hooker with a Heart of Gold: "Light Yagami. A drug filled prostitute"Light: I remember the first time I met Mikami. He was lying in a gutter. When I walked by he looked right at me and said one word. "God." I mean, wow. You can't buy drugs that give you a high like that.

Alone! Naked! And with the door unlocked! Bye!
- Later when Misa snuggles up next to Light wearing nothing but a Black Bra and Panties:
Light: Misa, stop that! That tickles! - Implausible Deniability:Light (after calling for the guy's blood moments before): Oh right, cover... Dad, you idiot! We needed him alive!
- L proves that Light is obviously Kira. (No one on the taskforce cares.)
L: Seriously, you wrote your ransom note on Death Note paper?Light: But it was the only paper I could find... whoops I mean Sayu could find! - Insistent Terminology:Light: Now Misa, we may be killers but we're not murderers. We're more like... custodians, cleaning up the filth of the world.

- My Girl Is Not a Slut: Light gets real jealous and protective of Misa during his Memory Gambit when he thinks he's straight and he thinks that Misa had sex with Higuchi. Hilarity Ensues.Light: ...and then we can kill him, right?L: No, Light we're not going to kill him.Later at Higuchi's arrest:

Da Chief a.k.a. Souichiro Yagami
Voiced by: MrArkonid
- Abusive Parent
- Adaptational Species Change: A Shinigami rather than a human.
- Adaptational Villainy: He's a Shinigami with plans of invasion rather than a well-meaning cop here. Not that he was heroic before The Reveal.
- Archnemesis Dad: To Light.
- Amazingly Embarrassing Parents
- Armored Closet Gay: He's a homophobic Jerkass obsessed with "manliness" who is also prone to crossdressing, hitting on other guys, and pimping his gay son out to other guys.
- Axe-Crazy
- Blue-and-Orange Morality: like his canon counterpart Da Chief is very strict about doing the right thing but his version of doing the "right thing" is very far removed (or even totally at odds) from what most people would consider the "right thing" to do. This may be due to him being batshit crazy. The "right thing" in Souichiro's case usually means doing whatever he says without question. Probably where his son gets it from...
- Boyfriend-Blocking Dad: A Zigzagged Trope. When Matsuda looks at Sayu wrong, Mr. Yagami crushes Matsuda's balls with his ESP powers. Subverted later when Mr. Yagami begs Mello to take his kids. Also when warning Matsuda about dating his daughter:Da Chief: Matsuda, until you grow a mustache as bushy and full as mine, you will not be allowed to date my twelve year old daughter.
- Burn the Orphanage: Souichiro burns one down, though (allegedly) it's by accident.Misa: That fire was pretty scary-the whole complex burned down! Those poor orphans!
- Comically Missing the Point:Matsuda: Chief, doesn't your son use a computer?
Chief: I don't understand what you're saying.
Matsuda: Chief, your son might be Kira.
Chief: I still don't understand what you're saying. - Cowboy Cop: a complete 180 from his canon, By The Book characterization.

- Cure Your Gays: Souichiro insists that Light go to a cure your gay camp and threatens to shoot him in the head when he fails to put out for Misa.

- Insurance Fraud: When they find out how much money they could get for fire insurance the taskforce agrees they should burn the old HQ to the ground.Mr. Yagami: Good, because I already started the fire.
- Jerkass
- Jerkass Gods: He's a Shinigami.
- Leeroy Jenkins
- Lethally Stupid
- Like Father, Like Son: it’s pretty clear where Light gets his crazy genes:

- The Mentally Disturbed: "Chief Yagami. An Escaped Mental Patient?"
- Mind over Matter: Da Chief has the ESP power to crush balls with his mind.
- Never My Fault: from how his kids turned out to the collateral damage of his pyromania Da Chief is always ready to blame someone/anyone/everyone else for his actions.
- The Nick Namer: Da Chief calls himself Master Chief, he takes to refering to Aizawa as "his son," and Light as his other daughter, Ide is "Squinty", and Mello is Lady Gaga.
- Obfuscating Stupidity: given the ending, this is more than likely.
- Politically Incorrect Villain
- Porn Stash: on Da Chief’s computer
- Pyromaniac
- Reports of My Death Were Greatly Exaggerated: Da Chief says this in his interview.
- Sarcastic Confession: Da Chief does this. Earlier he had taken to making what sounds like schizophrenic ravings about an alien invasion... He is actually part of the invading force.
- Scary Shiny Glasses: Da Chief when using his ESP power to crush Matsuda's balls.
- The Schizophrenia Conspiracy: Da Chief seems to get this believing that the space aliens and the Death Eaters have teamed up with Lady Gaga to Take Over the World.

I just want the death note!Mr. Yagami: What if I paid you?Mello: I! do! not! want! Your! kids! Just the Death Note!
- There Is No Kill Like Over Kill: One of Da Chief's favorite tropes.
