    Tokugawa Tsunayoshi
    Tokugawa Iemitsu
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/detail_tachie_2iemitsu.png
Voiced by: Yūki Kaji
Rarity (Base): Very High
Element (Base): Fire
The oldest of the Tokugawa siblings but is also the most childish. He also has a thing for Skeleton Motif.
  • Awesome, but Impractical: In the default pre-Awakening form, his special skill clears a large number of tiles and therefore greatly ups the attack power… but also deletes all healing tiles in the field, making this skill not recommended when the party is low on HP.
  • Cain and Abel: Abel to Yoshimune's Cain when the latter is possessed by their family's treasure sword.
  • Does Not Like Spam: Pumpkin. At one point, Tsunayoshi and Yoshimune call him out for leaving pumpkin in his dish.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: Along with Tsunayoshi, he plays Foolish to Yoshimune's Responsible, if not the most foolish out of the three.
  • In-Series Nickname: Mitsu-nī by Tsunayoshi.
  • Japanese Pronouns: He addresses everyone as -chan regardless of familiarity, except Mitsukuni.
  • The Nicknamer: He never addresses anyone by their proper names. Again, except Mitsukuni.
  • Punctuated! For! Emphasis!: Speaks like this more often. Than. Not.
  • Related in the Adaptation: Historically, Tsunayoshi and Yoshimune were Iemitsu's son and nephew respectively. Averted in the case of Mitsukuni, who really was his cousin in history.
  • Sadist: He is also stated to have an S side and like to see people in trouble.
  • Skeleton Motif: He absolutely obsesses over it, to the point where he has it attached to his clothes and tattooed on more than one spot on his body. His attacks in battle are also skull-themed.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Nattō.
  • Verbal Tic: Good god. Almost all his sentences end with a tilde like this~ If that ain't annoying enough, he also tends to have some of his sentences spoken. Like. This.
  • Western Zodiac: Leo (August 12). He also certainly has the Fire element and hammy personality down.
    Tokugawa Yoshimune

Voiced by: Natsuki Hanae
Live-acted by: Hiroki Ishibashi (stage play)
Rarity (Base): High
Element (Base): Water
The youngest of the Tokugawa siblings. He may look totally cute and harmless, but he is a courageous young man who shows a higher level of maturity than his brothers. He later ends up possessed by his family's treasured magical sword and attacking his own brothers.
  • Artifact Domination: His family's treasure sword exerts its power on him, causing him to grievously wound Iemitsu and lash out at Tsunayoshi.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: He feels indebted to his brothers' protecting him, so he wants to become strong in order to protect them in return. This leads him to secretly take their family's treasured demonic sword and use it. It does not end well.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Turns out, he is the one having taken the Shizunagi and wounded Iemitsu.
  • Cain and Abel: Nobody dies, luckily, but he is Cain to Iemitsu's Abel under the influence of the Shizunagi.
  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: He has a youthful look, which is stated to be similar to that of a young woman.
  • Fiery Redhead: He possesses nice red tresses as well as a strong personality, a trait he shares with Tsunayoshi.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: Responsible to Iemitsu and Tsunayoshi's Foolish, and since this is two Foolish siblings we're talking about here, it makes him double as the Only Sane Man for the Tokugawa household.
  • In-Series Nickname: Yosshī by Iemitsu.
  • Only Sane Man: Even though he is the youngest of his family, he has to act as the voice of reason for his older brothers, much to his dismay. It gets even worse since the introduction of Mitsukuni – the guy isn't much better than his brothers.
  • Related in the Adaptation: Historically, Iemitsu was his uncle, Tsunayoshi his cousin and Mitsukuni his grandcousin.
  • Sheltered Aristocrat: He spends most of his life inside his castle, so he admits to not being familiar with social situations.
  • Strange-Syntax Speaker: When he is under the Shizunagi's control, his speech is rendered as katakana. His scream going from katakana to hiragana shows his mind going back to normal.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Beef kamaboko.
  • Western Zodiac: Sagittarius (November 27).
    Hiraga Gennai
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/detail_tachie_3gennnai.png
Voiced by: Seiichirō Yamashita
Rarity (Base): Medium
Element (Base): Light
An ambitious Teen Genius inventor who wants to help the world inventor's way and never gives up… though he does cause a huge disaster or two.
  • Labcoat of Science and Medicine: Part of his attire in the pre-Awakening and Yang form. He loses it in the Yin.
  • Mad Scientist: An admittedly gifted inventor who genuinely thinks electrocuting oneself is a form of massage, among other things.
  • Oral Fixation: He's almost always seen sucking on a lollipop.
  • Playing with Syringes: To the point where he detonates his house more than once.
Gennai: (special White Day dialogue) Thanks for the chocolate. I wanted to give you an invention in return, but it blew up.
  • Symbol Swearing: Apparently, when he accidentally shocks himself.
  • Teen Genius: He seems to be in his teens, yet he's already creating machines and is also a good painter.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: No, it's not lollipop. He likes unagi eel.
  • Uncanny Valley Makeup: Yang Mochizuki form again.
  • Western Zodiac: Aries (April 18). Funny enough, this is the "brainy" sign.
    Sugita Genpaku
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/detail_tachie_6genpaku.png
Voiced by: Mitsuhiro Ichiki
Rarity (Base): Medium
Element (Base): Dark
A Mad Doctor whose desire for finding out how the human body works is so strong he will find any excuse to try and dissect the nearest person in the vicinity, even if their condition doesn't warrant an operation. However, for all his madness, he is a well-intentioned doctor who genuinely wants to help his patients.
  • For Science!: The reason for his unhealthy obsession for operation is that he wants to learn more about the human body.
  • Mad Doctor: A doctor with a creepy obsession for cutting other people open at any given chance.
  • The Medic: His obvious job aside, gameplay-wise, his special skill allows him to create healing tiles.
  • Morally Ambiguous Doctorate: He may genuinely wants to cure his patients, but he is far from completely heroic, as seen with his multiple operation attempts, often without the other person's consent. One such attempt with the heroine feels disturbingly like a sexual assault. Oh, and he has on multiple occasions wished for people to encounter accidents/diseases so he can have someone to operate on. He's that morally ambiguous.
    Inō Tadataka
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/detail_tachie_5inoh.png
Voiced by: Taishi Murata
Rarity (Base): Low
Element (Base): Wind
A guy who's very paranoid about his personal space and is Good with Numbers to the point where he converts everything around him to numbers. His biggest dream is to draw a map of Hinomoto.
  • Does Not Like Spam: Raw fish.
  • Good with Numbers: Taken to ridiculous degrees. Since he wants to draw a map of the entire Hinomoto, he greatly values accuracy and tends to talk about everything in terms of numbers.
Tadataka: Hold it right there! Don't get any closer! To be specific, don't get anywhere within 125cm from me!
  • Hates Being Touched: Makes a big deal out of his personal space. It is best to stay at least an arbitrarily accurate distance away from him.
  • Ludicrous Precision: His defining characteristic, he can't go five minutes without mentioning numbers and measurements.
  • Mad Mathematician: The end result of his obsession with numbers.
  • Palette Swap: In his base form, when given a Yang Awakening, his coat is made longer and is orange, while the shirt underneath is green. A Yin Awakening keeps his coat the original length, but turns it purple and makes the shirt red.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Turnips.
  • Western Zodiac: Aquarius (February 11). His Wind element also matches.
    Kobayashi Issa

Voiced by: Kentaro Kumagai
Rarity (Base): Low
Element (Base): Wind
A decidedly un-poetic haiku poet as well as a drunkard. He's not that bad of a guy, but often lets alcohol gets the best of him.
  • The Alcoholic: And how. He even defines adults as "people who can drink", leading to a rather annoying exchange in which he insists the heroine a kid because she doesn't drink, even though she's clearly not.
  • Does Not Like Spam: Bota-mochi.
  • Genius Slob: He's a poet, but the sloppy way he dresses and carries himself says otherwise. The polar opposite of, say, the Miyabi poets.
  • Hunk: This should be evident, and even more so in his Yosugara form where his outfits show even more of his impressive build.
  • Silver Fox: He's far from young and his hair is already greying, but he's still portrayed as attractive.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Sake, unsurprisingly.
  • Western Zodiac: Gemini (June 15).
    Yui Shōsetsu
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/detail_tachie_8yui.png
Voiced by: Ryousuke Kanemoto
Rarity (Base): Very Low
Element (Base): Water
A Dude Looks Like a Lady, but gets pissed when other people think him a woman. He is also a talented battle strategist who teaches strategy classes and can be a pretty Stern Teacher when necessary.
  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: But he doesn't know this and will fly into a rage if mistaken for a woman. Makes you wonder if he's ever looked himself in the mirror.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: He seemingly loses his shit and starts yelling at the drop of a hat.
  • In-Series Nickname: Setsurin by Iemitsu.
  • Palette Swap: As with other low-rarity summons, his Awakened forms are basically recolors of the base form rather than a completely different outfit. His kimono is blue in the Yang form and black in the Yin form.
  • The Strategist: For all his femininity, he is a skilled battle strategist and even holds strategy classes.
  • Stern Teacher: He's far from gentle to his students, harshly reprimanding them for trying to start a coup and isn't easy on anyone slacking off in his class.
    Tokugawa Mitsukuni
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/detail_tachie_9mitsukuni.png
Voiced by: Keiji Fujiwara
Rarity (Base): Very High
Element (Base): Dark
The cousin of the three Tokugawa brothers, a foodie who travels Kō to taste all kinds of dishes.
  • Big Eater: He's never too full to taste delicacies, even after just finishing a meal, and isn't afraid to drag his cousins along on his constant food trips, much to their dismay.
Iemitsu: Aha, Mitsukuni-san's stomach is bottomless as always.
  • Bizarre Taste in Food: He even enjoys dishes that seem pretty odd to outsiders i.e. strawberry tempura. That is until he persuades them to try and they find out said dishes really are as good as he says.
  • Cool Big Bro: Seems to be one to Iemitsu, which explains Iemitsu's seemingly higher respect for him than other people.
  • Does Not Like Spam: It's hard to believe someone like him could have a hated dish, but his profile says he dislikes anything that isn't chewy or crunchy.
  • Fattening the Victim: In the 13th Yonkoma, he looks like he's doing this to Inaba…
  • Hidden Depths: Underneath his love for food is a belief in the importance of spreading happiness through food and deep gratitude for the chefs who prepare the dishes he enjoys. He even risks himself to protect a soba shop from being shut down by a greedy lord.
  • Personal Seals: He gives these out as proof of his approval rating for each eatery he visits. Five seals indicate the highest rating.
  • Related in the Adaptation: His historical counterpart was the cousin of Iemitsu, but the grandcousin of Tsunayoshi and Yoshimune.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: One expects it to be "anything" at this point, but according to his in-game profile, he likes salmon best.
  • Western Zodiac: Cancer (July 11).
