Team HRRN (Heron)

    In General
  • Adaptational Superpower Change: Like all other characters not native to Remnant, anyone who's abilities weren't related to Aura or Semblance now are.
  • Cool Sword: Three of the team's members wield swords. Yu's is a plain but efficient katana, Hyde's Insulator can cut through pretty much anything that doesn't have an aura like a hot knife through butter, and Ragna's Blood-Scythe is both way larger than your typical sword and can transform into a scythe for alternate offensive options.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Three of the team's members play this straight. Ruby, Ragna, and Hyde all have dark attributes. Ruby dresses in dark colors and has a Sinister Scythe for a weapon, Ragna is an even more blatant example with his crass attitude and Soul Eater abilities, and Hyde's Insulator has very disturbing vibes to it with its lethality. Despite that, they are all good people and seek to help others. Yu is the only one that doesn't really qualify for this trope.
  • Four-Temperament Ensemble: All Teams follow this, and HRRN is no exception:
    • Phlegmatic: Hyde. While normally calm and reserved, he has no tolerance for anything unjust and will not hesitate to personally intervene if he has to. He pays his supposed reputation as a trouble-maker no mind, and for the most part gets along with others very well, at the very least suiting him well to being The Lancer to Yu.
    • Choleric: Ragna. His previous combat experience, training under Jubei and Soul Eater ability makes him the most powerful and skilled fighter of his team by a country mile, fitting him as The Big Guy for his friends. While rude and crass, he holds a large amount of respect for his allies and especially his mentor.
    • Sanguine: Ruby. She just so happens to be the youngest and only female member of an all-male team, and her role as this is very, very apparent; her optimistic personality and outlook on life shines through her team, but she also feels that she can do a lot more for HRRN beyond using her Semblance for reconnaissance while her teammates handle the brunt of the fighting.
    • Melancholic: Yu. He was handpicked to be The Leader by Ozpin himself, and shows the most concern for his teammates' well-being by helping Ruby study and taming Ragna's temper. He is also arguably the quirkiest member of HRRN, best exemplified by taking Kanji's punishment and seemingly enjoying being forced to crossdress for a bet he and Hyde lost.
  • Ragtag Bunch of Misfits: They are comprised of a calm yet quirky leader who can summon the shinto god of creation, a young weapon nut who was moved up by two years, a foul-mouthed ex-bounty hunter who was trained by the strongest warrior alive, and a moody teen with a reputation for being a troublemaker.

A young man with a reputation of being a trouble maker and a good friend of Jaune and Kanji. He's typically calm and reserved, but has a strong sense of justice and will step in to help those in need. His Semblance is Void Red, which lets him manifest a portion of his Aura as a weapon called The Insulator, a blade with an antimatter effect letting it cut through practically anything. He serves as the lancer of team HRRN.
  • Absurd Cutting Power: His Insulator can cut through borderline anything. The only things that it cannot immediately cut through are other people with aura shielding. Any grimm he uses it against is pretty much screwed though.
  • Artifact of Doom: The Insulator is the key to unlocking the Great Seal, which will awaken Nyx, goddess of night, and bring death and destruction to Remnant.
  • BFS: Not to an extreme, but Insulator is much longer than your average sword.
  • Book Dumb: Not an idiot by any stretch of the margin, but he's mostly average when it comes to school work. He'd much rather avoid studying altogether if he can help it if his bet with Pyrrha and Tsubaki is an indicator of anything.
  • Bully Hunter: Not to Ragna's extent, but he will not stand idly by when people pick on those they deem beneath them. He and Kanji team up to help Jaune deal with Cardin during chapter 8.
  • Butt-Monkey: He seems to be the fall guy of Team HRRN. He and Kanji lose to Pyrrha and Tsubaki pretty easily and end up serving their part of a bet (though Kanji was able to get Yu to be the fall guy) and lost to Ruby in an offscreen fight. Ragna jokes that if he keeps letting himself get beaten by girls, people will think he's into it. He also ends up having to attend mandatory study sessions with Professor Port.
  • Delinquents: Comes across as one, but he's really not. He just doesn't really care what people think of him in the end.
  • Energy Weapon: His Insulator is comprised of his Aura and can channel energy attacks.
  • Everyone Has Standards: When Pyrrha offers to go to class wearing whatever Hyde wants her to wear, he refuses. He'd rather not be taken for a pervert.
  • Glass Cannon: His Insulator can dish out large amounts of punishment due to its lethality, but he's not exactly durable and can't take many hits.
  • The Lancer: Fill this role as he is a generally reliable confidant to Yu and is more hot-blooded compared to his stoic leader. Word of God even refers to him as "The Rook".
  • Nice Guy: He's very generous and has a strong moral compass, and refuses to take advantage of Pyrrha's first wager because it sounded perverted.
  • Noodle Incident: Whatever happened between him and Nanase that made her so toxic to him.

A foul-mouthed ex-bounty hunter. Ragna is an orphan trained in combat by his master Jubei, one of the deadliest warriors in Remnant's history. With his strength, experience, and skill, he's undoubtedly the team's powerhouse. His Semblance is Soul Eater, allowing him to drain his enemy's Aura with his energy-laced strikes. His main weapon is Blood-Scythe, a large sword that can transform into a scythe, granting him greater reach and alternate attack options.
  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: Inverted. While he still has a Dark and Troubled Past, compared to his canon self, it's VERY lighthearted. To make a long story short, Ragna lost his adopted mother, brother, and sister, his home and got his arm gruesomely cut off all in in the same day when Yuuki Terumi invaded his home. That's not getting into everything else he had to endure due to his Cosmic Plaything status. Here, his siblings were adopted normally and he never got his arm cut off. Never meeting Terumi in this timeline certainly helps.
  • Age Lift: He's 18 here where as he was at most in his mid-twenties in canon.
  • The Aloner: A downplayed case. While he has his friends' backs and they his in turn, he tends to forget that he's on a team and cannot fight by himself anymore. He's also a bit of a grouch who prefers solitude.
  • The Berserker: He admits to Ozpin in chapter 3 that he has a hard time keeping his anger in check, especially when it comes to bullies. Rise even calls him a "Human Missile" that targets and destroys anything that pisses him off.
  • BFS: His Blood-scythe is way larger than any sword has the right to be. It's size and length somewhat increase when it changes to its scythe mode.
  • The Big Guy: As the oldest and strongest member of the team, he fills this role. He also has the most on-hand combat experience and superior combat training, making him the best fighter in the group.
  • Blood Knight: Beyond his desire to hunt down bullies, Ragna enjoys a clean fight.
  • Book Dumb: Subverted. He isn't dumb, just very aggressive. Ruby also notes that he focuses more on his combat training and pays no mind to his studies, viewing them as unimportant.
  • Bully Hunter: He's caused no shortage of trouble with the fights he's picked with Beacon's resident jackasses. He admits that something just snaps in him every time he sees people bullying others.
  • Close-Range Combatant: His range is the weakest of his team - his only ranged attacks being more mid-range - but he more than makes up for it with how effective he is up close and personal.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: He grew up an orphan and was left alone after his siblings were adopted. Though this is TAME compared to what he had to go through in BlazBlue canon.
  • Humanoid Abomination: He's the reincarnation of the Black Beast, an eldritch horror that nearly wiped out all life on Remnant and is the reason for the Grimm's existence.
  • In-Series Nickname: Unlike canon, his nickname, Bloodedge, was given to him by Ruby rather than by his master at the end of his training.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He's rude, foul-mouthed, and crass, but he ultimately has a softer side that shows when he's with his team.
    • However, while he is a genuinely good person, his more Jerkass attributes have caused problems. His disregard for authority tends to get him in trouble with Beacon's faculty and his aggressive behavior makes it hard for him to have any friends outside his team.
    • This can even cause problems within his own team. While he was defending Ruby from what he perceived to be Weiss being an asshole to her, it also ruined her chance at making amends with her. Had he stopped after telling off Weiss for almost ditching Ruby and leaving her on the floor, they may have been able to come to a compromise. It also drives a wedge between them that Yu is trying to mend, but progress has been slow. They do make amends in chapter 9 though.
    • Rise pretty much notes that for all his aggression and rudeness, he ultimately cares deeply about those around him and hates it when people are robbed of their chances to learn and grow.
  • Life Drain: His semblance lets him leach off his opponent's aura and heal himself.
  • Lightning Bruiser: He's the toughest member of Team HRRN by a landslide and is considerable fast, being able to keep pace with Ruby in some regards.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: For as much as they despise each other, both Ruby and Rise note that Ragna and Weiss aren't all that different from each other. Both of them have very rough attitudes, they just expressed differently.
  • One-Handed Zweihänder: See that large slab of metal he calls a sword? He wields that with one hand like it's as light as a toothpick.
  • Only One Name: Being an orphan, he has no family name.
  • It's Personal:
    • He seems to have some small beef with the Schnee Family due to their Fantastic Racism toward Faunus, Jacques insulting his master, and... well, the fact that Jacques is an underhanded asshole.
    • Word of God states that Ragna's original rivalry with Terumi will not come to pass here; Ruby will grow into his previous stead while Ragna has a grudge against a yet-unknown RWBY villain.
  • Real Men Cook: He's a very skilled chef, though he does get sick of having to cook his team's meals.
  • Red Baron: Bloodedge.
  • Sinister Scythe: When his Blood-scythe is in its scythe mode. It's more noteworthy due not only its size, but its wielder's more crass and aggressive attitude compared to Ruby.
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: Wouldn't be Ragna without a fuckton of cursing. Word of God states that he intends to have Ragna's vulgar language go MUCH further than it would be able to go in the games. Though given the high school setting at the moment, it's being kept at around the same level as the games until later.
  • Strong and Skilled: Sort of, since he also has shades of Unskilled, but Strong. While he is unquestionably the most powerful and skilled member of Team HRRN, he tends to fight with extreme aggression and isn't too keen on fighting with others. He's also not one for strategy, preferring power-oriented tactics as opposed to a more cautious methodology.
  • Would Hit a Girl: Comes really close to picking a fight with Weiss to defend Ruby. Neither of them come to blows, though.
  • Your Soul Is Mine!: His semblance, Soul Eater, allows him to drain the souls of his enemies through energy laced attacks. Against humans, this is a devastating power, as any fight with Ragna will fall to his favor if it drags out for too long. God knows what happens if he kills someone with this ability.

A young huntress in training from the island of Patch. After stopping Roman Torchwick's robbery, she was admitted into Beacon by Ozpin a full two years ahead. She tends to serve as the "Recon Girl", though she started getting more practice in battlefield situations. Her Semblance is Speed, allowing her to move incredibly fast, and her main weapon is Crescent Rose, a high caliber combat sniper rifle/scythe.
  • Badass Adorable: She's a fifteen year old girl who can kick as much ass as her teammates.
  • The Baby of the Bunch: She's the youngest member of the team.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: On the receiving end of one at the hands of Yuuki Terumi in a dream sequence
  • Dreaming of Things to Come: In Chapter 1, she has a nightmare of the fall of Beacon with her being gruesomely beaten to a bloody pulp by Yuuki Terumi.
  • Fragile Speedster: She can't really take a hit. Hitting her on the other hand, is another story altogether.
  • Genki Girl: She's bubbly and energetic.
  • The Idealist: Much like canon, she looks for the best in people.
  • The Leader: Surprisingly, she's not Team HRRN's. Ozpin reveals to Yu that he had wanted Ruby to originally lead their team as he sees load of potential in her, but he feared that being the youngest member of their team, and the only female in it to boot, would make getting the attention she needed from her teammates a difficult task, especially with Hyde and Ragna's rougher attitudes. That said, Yu seems to believe Ozpin as well, intending to one day pass on his role as leader to Ruby when she gets her footing together.
  • Long-Range Fighter: Downplayed in that she is an effective fighter in close quarters, but has the best range of her team and also works best when at a distance.
  • Nice Girl: Very kind and warm-hearted. She continuously tried to make amends with Weiss over their bad first meeting with each other, although the heiress is having none of it.
  • Otaku: When it comes to weapons, she's very enthusiastic. She even refers to Crescent Rose as her "sweetheart".
  • Ship Tease: Is implied to have a crush on Ragna by her sister. Rise basically confirms it.
  • Sinister Scythe: Downplayed. While she certainly has the scythe part down pat, wielding that weapon is an adorable, kindhearted young girl.
  • The Smurfette Principle: She is the only girl whereas the rest of her teammates are boys. A shutter was placed in their room to protect her privacy, although she mentally notes that Hyde, Ragna and Yu aren't the type to look at her inappropriately.
  • Super-Speed: Her semblance lets her move at hyper-sonic speeds for short bursts.
  • Weak, but Skilled: Physically, she's the weakest member of the team, as she lacks Hyde's near-unstoppable cutting potential with his sword, the versatility of Yu's Persona and Ragna's training and raw power which is greater than all three of them combined. However, she's very skilled with her scythe in both forms and very hard to hit thanks to her speed.

The leader of team HRRN. Originally a student from Yasogami High, he lead a group called the Investigation Team. After their town was attacked by grimm, he and his friends were given the option to come to Beacon and become huntsman and huntresses. Despite this, only a few chose to attend, with the rest going their separate ways. Handpicked by Ozpin himself, he shows the same natural aptitude for leadership with his new team as he did with his old one. His Semblance is his Persona, Izanagi, and his main weapon is a basic katana.
  • The Ace: He's looked up to by his fellow teammates and helps bring them together, also serving as an excellent strategist and combatant. It also fits with him being a Jack of All Stats.
  • Ambiguously Bi: He claims to be "comfortable enough with his sexuality to become a professional dancer" and shows no problem cross dressing to help a friend with a bet. If anything he enjoyed it.
  • Awesome, but Impractical: Downplayed during his fight with Ragna. His Persona, while powerful, is directly tied to his aura. So not only would using it would cause him to drain his aura reserves, but any damage inflicted upon it does so as well. Against Ragna's Soul Eater abilities and skills, this isn't exactly a viable tactic. However, he does manage to use his Persona to cause a knockout, letting him take the victory.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: He's pretty quirky, but he's team lead for a reason. Shown to be both a powerful fighter and very insightful when it comes to his teammates problems.
  • Boring, but Practical: There isn't anything special about his katana other than that he can channel Izanagi's power into it (and even then that's an ability of Izanagi, not the sword's), but it ultimately gets the job done.
  • Curb Stomp Cushion: Played Straight and Subverted. He starts out on the losing end of his fight with Ragna, but he does manage to get a few decent hits in. In the end though, he manages to land a strong enough blow to knock Ragna out.
  • Fighting Spirit: His Persona: Izanagi.
  • In-Series Nickname: His canon nickname is shortened to "Kingpin of Steel" here.
  • Jack of All Stats: He's nowhere near as strong as Ragna, his sword lacks the cutting power of Hyde's, and his speed is not on Ruby's level, but he is very competent in all of those fields and his Persona provides him a much greater level of versatility. His strengths aren't on the same level as his teammates, but he has very few weaknesses. His overall stats bear the most balance of his team as well.
  • Katanas Are Just Better: He wields a plain old katana that he can channel Izanagi's power through.
  • The Leader: Handpicked for this position by Ozpin. He has a natural talent for leading the team, being an effective strategist and is not only respected by his teammates, but also serves to inspire and push them forward. He was also this to the Investigation Team.
  • Nice Guy: He's very polite to almost everyone he meets. Even Ragna respects and admires the guy. This was also why Ruby didn't complain about her "recon girl" position too much, because Yu was so nice about giving her the position. He was also able to understand that Ruby could do more for the team if she helped on the battlefield well before she asked him if she could. All in all, he's a kind young man who respects his teammates wishes and understands them.
  • Physical God: Izanagi is literally a god, albeit having weakened due to passing through the Arcana.
  • Red Baron: Kingpin Of Steel.
  • Single-Stroke Battle: A nonlethal variant. After spending most of his fight with Ragna getting his ass handed to him, he's able to use proper timing and quick thinking to land a decisive blow that nails him the match. Good thing to, cause if he were off by just a bit, his Aura would have been too drained to continue.

Team MNYK (Manic)

    In General
  • Four-Temperament Ensemble:
    • Choleric: Makoto. As team leader, she has dedicated herself to ensuring that she and all her friends reach their potential as Huntsmen and Huntresses, and is the most goal-oriented out of her teammates. Save for Yang, she might be their most sociable member.
    • Melancholic: Noel. Her shy nature hides a dedication to her friends, although she tends to be socially awkward in expressing it save for her closest companions.
    • Sanguine: Yang. While nearly as sociable as Makoto, her energy and competitiveness with others, not to mention her protective role as Ruby's older half-sister, make her a lot more intuitive in reading people's emotions.
    • Phlegmatic: Kanji. He's often left to be the fall guy for any wacky situation he's unlucky enough to find himself in, but he still manages to keep his composure long enough to be relied on as a confidant by those who know him.
  • Good Old Fisticuffs: With the exception of Noel, the team's members make use of fist fighting. Makoto complements hers with her tonfa/armguards while Yang's Ember Celica gauntlets aid her with her punches. Kanji is the biggest example since, besides his Persona, he has no weapons and rely's mainly on his bare fists(and a folding chair).

The leader of Team MNYK; a Faunus with squirrel attributes. A peppy fighter with a never-say-die attitude, she has taken it upon herself to push her team to its limits, although her boundless excitement and energy is too much for her friends to handle at times. Her semblance is Impact, which lets her amplify the strength of her punches greatly and even create large aura based projections of her fists for devastating attacks. Her main weapons are a pair of Cross-shaped Tonfa/Armguards that greatly increase the strength of her attacks.
  • Adaptational Intelligence: Implied at this moment. In canon, she was street smart, but Book Dumb and didn't show much desire for learning. Here, she seems to focus on helping her team in academic fields, which implies greater intellect than her canon counterpart.
  • Adaptational Modesty: Combined with Age Lift, her standard attire covers far more skin than her canon counterpart did. To give people an idea, she basically wears her Chronophantasma pre-battle outfit. Needless to say, her original fighting... outfit would not work for Beacon, or any high school for that matter.
  • Charged Attack: The apex of what her Impact semblance can do. It charges her strikes up for power blows.
  • Close-Range Combatant: Her long-range attacks are lacking, but her efficiency in head-to-head confrontations among the best in Beacon.
  • Cute Bruiser: She's cute and cuddly, but she can wreck someones shit 10 ways to Sunday.
  • The Face: She's really good with conversation and interaction.
  • Genki Girl: She has a LOT of energy to the point where her teammates can't really keep up with her.
  • The Leader: Of team MNYK.

One of Makoto's best friends, a shy and friendly girl whose skills in the kitchen are literally deadly. She also bears a startling resemblance to Ragna's younger sister. Her semblance is Chain Revolver, letting her perform fast gun combos and charge up her ammunition for certain attacks, which goes perfectly with her dual pistols known as Bolverk.
  • Badass Adorable: She may be shy, but she's a very capable fighter.
  • Lethal Chef: If you value your life, NEVER LET HER NEAR THE KITCHEN!
  • Glass Cannon: She can bring a lot of deadly fire-power to the table thanks to her marksmanship skills and Bolverk's abilities, but her defensive abilities are rather pathetic.
  • Guns Akimbo: How she wields Bolverk.
  • Gun Kata: In close quarters, this is how she fights, ala Equilibrium.
  • The Gunslinger: She's the only member of her team that specializes in long-range combat and is a highly skilled marksman.
  • Long-Range Fighter: She's a stand-out example as this is strictly her bread-and-butter. In close-range fights, she's mediocre at best.
  • Shrinking Violet: She tends to be extremely shy.
  • Weak, but Skilled: She's nowhere near close to the level of physical strength any of her teammates have, but she's very good at long-range combat and knows how to use Bolverk properly.

Ruby's older half-sister, who helped raise her after the death of her mother Summer. She is thrilled that her baby sister is able to attend Beacon with her, although Ruby laments that they aren't on the same team. Her semblance is Rage, allowing her to absorb damage and redirect the kinetic energy with her physical blows. Her main weapons are a pair of shotgun gauntlets called Ember Celica.
  • Blood Knight: She LOVES fighting.
  • Cool Big Sis: Is this for Ruby.
  • Lightning Bruiser: More so than Makoto since her semblance lets her tank all her opponents attack strength and dish it back at 'em. In short, she's mobile, can take all your pain and put out just as much, if not more.
  • Nice Girl: Just as much of one as Ruby is.
  • Nobody Touches the Hair: Because doing so is a death sentence.
  • Playing with Fire: She gives off a fiery aura when angered and her gauntlets typically use incendiary ammunition.

The son of a textile shop owner from a small town. He and Yu were once part of the Investigation Team, a group of Persona users from Yasogami High; however, after Grimm attacked their school, the two of them were the only ones to accept an invitation to attend Beacon while the rest went their separate ways. His Persona Take-Mikazuchi is a large brutish figure with control over lightning and thunder.
  • Awesome, but Impractical: Like Yu above, his Persona is a downplayed version of this. While powerful and effective, it's connected to his aura, so he cannot just continuously use it.
  • Book Dumb: Admits as such that he only got into Beacon because of his Persona, and is more than willing to be tutored by two of the smartest girls in his class to at least let him cope with his academics. Even with help, he tends to complain that it's still really hard for him to do well in academics.
  • Butt-Monkey: He tends to be the fall guy for any wacky antics his team gets into. At this point he easily lost to Tsubaki and Pyrrha in a bet and would've worn a dress to class had Yu not agreed to help him and he has to eat Noel's cooking. Nuff said.
  • Dumb Muscle: He's not a complete moron, but he tends to fail in academics and has a hard time even with help. He outright states that he only got into Beacon due to his combat aptitude and Persona.
  • Fighting Spirit: His Persona: Take-Mikazuchi.
  • Improbable Weapon User: Besides his fists, he also uses a goddamn folding chair as a weapon.
  • Mighty Glacier: At least compared to the rest of his team, since he's much slower than them and his attacks, while packing a lot of power behind them, are wide and can be dodged rather easily by trained fighters.
  • Real Men Wear Pink: He likes cute things and is also good with sewing. He even patched a hole in Yang's pillow for her.
  • Shock and Awe: Take-Mikazuchi gives him these abilities.
  • The One Guy: In contrast to Ruby, he's the only guy on an all girl team.

She is first introduced looking for part-time work in a Junes branch owned by the Hanamura family. Team TWNE (Tune)

    In General
  • Cool Sword: Like team HRRN, three of its members are sword fighters. Tsubaki uses a sword and shield heirloom that can shift into other weapons and gather light to attack her enemies. Weiss's multifunction revolver/rapier uses several different kinds of dust for multiple abilities. Nanase's Zephyr is a large sword that compliments her wind manipulation semblance. Enkidu is the only one who averts this due to being a martial artist who does not rely on any weapon.

    • Choleric: Tsubaki.
    • Phlegmatic: Weiss.
    • Sanguine: Nanase.
    • Melancholic: Enkidu.
  • Light Is Good: Tsubaki, Weiss, and Nanase all have bright colors and are training to protect the innocent. However, in Nanase's and Weiss's case, they aren't the nicest of people. Enkidu doesn't adhere to this and is more a case of Dark Is Not Evil.

A close friend to Makoto and Noel and a member of the prestigious Yayoi family. Her skills in the battlefield and in academia are unmatched save for a scant few, making her the natural choice of leader for the team. Her semblance is Install, allowing her to charge up energy that amplifies the strength of her attacks. Her weapon is Izayoi, a sword and shield that steals light from the surrounding environment and uses it as a weapon. It has been passed down throughout her family for generations.
  • The Ace: Much like Pyrrha, she is an extremely talented student and gifted battlefield combatant.
  • Ancestral Weapon: Izayoi is an heirloom in the Yayoi family and has been passed down for generations.
  • By-the-Book Cop: Well, by-the-book student more like it. She prefers that everyone obey rules and protocol and has a distaste for Ragna due to his blatant disregard for authority and wanting to pick a fight with one of her teammates outside of a combat arena, regardless of his intentions for doing so.
  • Lady of War: Her fighting style is very elegant.
  • The Leader: She leads Team TWNE.
  • Shapeshifter Weapon: Izayoi can alter between different forms, giving her great versatility.

Heiress to the Schnee Dust Company. She has quite a bad first impression of Ruby, who nearly destroyed her entire cache of Dust in their initial meeting; one which neither of them has been able to move past on despite the hooded Huntress' best efforts. Her semblance is Glyphs, a hereditary semblance that lets her use glyphs to amplify her attacks or even use them as a means of transport. Her weapon is a revolver/rapier sword called Myrtenaster.
  • Adaptational Jerkass: A justified case. Since she and Ruby aren't on the same team, they aren't forced to iron out their issues, resulting in her being much more rude toward her than she was in canon.
  • Jerkass: A bit more noticeable than canon.
  • Pet the Dog:
    • Before Ragna got too aggressive, she was willing to admit that she was being too rude to Ruby helped her get back on her feet after they fell.
    • She also seems to have no problems with the fact that she isn't leader this time. Though considering her leader is Tsubaki Yayoi, it's justifiable.

A student who Hyde has a(not so good) history with. She has a tendency to jump to conclusions and is very stubborn, much to the annoyance of Hyde. Her semblance is Windmill, which allows her to control and manipulate wind. Her main weapon is a large green blade called Zephyr.
  • BFS: Not as much as Blood-Scythe, but Zephyr is still larger than a typical sword.
  • Book Dumb: She's not an complete idiot, given that she's an effective fighter, but she tends to jump to absurd conclusions.
  • Blow You Away: What her semblance can do.

His semblance, Maelstrom, allows him to give the force of his blows a slight increase in strength and even fire energy projectiles from his hands. He uses no weapon but his martial combat skills.
  • Bare-Fisted Monk: Is a martial artist who has no need for weapons.
  • Beware the Quiet Ones: He rarely speaks, but just one look at him tells Hyde that he does not want to fight him one-on-one.
  • The Big Guy: Of Team TWNE, being the tallest and physically strongest member.
  • Dumb Muscle: He isn't exactly smart when it comes to subjects outside of combat. In battle, he's practically a genius.

A clumsy yet well-meaning aspiring Huntsman, Pyrrha's teammate, close friends with Hyde and Kanji, and the leader of team JMPR. He originally forged his transcripts to get into Beacon so that he could live up to the long and proud legacy of the Arc family. His semblance is unknown, though it is heavily implied to be a Persona. His main weapon is a basic sword and shield combo called Crocea Mors.
  • Adaptational Superpower Change: He's implied to be a Persona user rather than having a healing Aura.
  • Boring, but Practical: Crocea Mors may not be flashy or complex like the other weapons his fellow students use, but they get the job done well.
  • Ancestral Weapon: Like Izayoi, Crocea Mors has been passed down the Arc line.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: He may be one of the nicest people you'll meet, but he can be pretty threatening when it comes to protecting those he cares for.
  • Close-Range Combatant: He has almost no range whatsoever and relies entirely on his sword and shield.
  • Extreme Doormat: Starts off willing to let Cardin walk all over him, but he draws the line when he tries to hurt his friends.
  • Hearing Voices: When he's being attacked by Cardin, he hears a voice in his head. This signifies that he is a potential Persona user.
  • Heroic RRoD: He saves Noel from a Grimm attack, but collapses as soon as it's killed.
  • The Klutz: His clumsiness makes him this.
  • Shield Bash: How he helps Noel fight an Alpha Grimm.
  • The One Guy: Like Kanji, he's the only male on his team.

One of the most talented fighters within Beacon's freshman class, and a diligent student to boot. She was the four-time champion of Mistral, having never lost a match. Her semblance is Polarity, which lets her manipulate magnetic currents, though she typically only uses this to make minor adjustments to herself or her opponents to gain the upper hand. Her weapons are a javelin/sword/rifle combination called Milo and a shield named Akouo.
  • The Ace: An extremely talented student and four-time champion tournament fighter. Ragna hopes to test his own strength by fighting her, given Pyrrha's reputation.
  • Distracted by the Sexy: Boldly offers to dress up in whatever Hyde wants her to wear if she and Tsubaki lost her match with him and Kanji. However, Hyde's standards automatically make him refuse the deal; instead demanding that they do their homework should he win.
  • Out of Focus: She hasn't been involved in much, but she does tend to get challenges from other students very often to the point where Ragna notes that it's "Nikos vs. the whole damn school".

An ex-pop idol who came to Beacon to pursue a career as a huntress. She is an old friend of Yu and Kanji, having attended Yasogami High with them prior to the Grimm attack. Despite being a famous idol, she is rather humble and modest. Her semblance is her Persona, Himiko.
  • Fighting Spirit: Her Persona: Himiko.
  • Idol Singer: She was an idol singer and an extremely popular one to boot. Despite all the fame she gets, she's rather modest and tries to help other students as best as she can.
  • Instant Fan Club: She has one that uncaringly tramples Ruby when she's trying to help her and Ragna mend their friendship.
  • Long-Range Fighter: Her fighting abilities up close are on par with Noel... meaning they're rather pitiful. She has exceptional range to compensate.
  • Nice Girl: Does her best to help others.
  • Sherlock Scan: Himiko can let her pull this off. She's also able to tell that Ruby's got some pretty strong feelings toward Ragna.

Other Students

    Cardin Winchester

Cardin Winchester

The freshman batch's resident bully, who claims to have incriminating information on Jaune.

Ozpin's inner Circle

    Professor Ozpin

Professor Ozpin/Osiris

The Headmaster of Beacon Academy. Although he has the appearance of a wise old educator, Ozpin's life dates back to the time he had assisted the Six Heroes of Remnant in defeating the Black Beast long ago.
  • The Ageless: Subverted. He does age, he just gets reincarnated overtime when he dies. His past memories overlap with his new incarnation, eventually resulting in a personality merge.
  • Composite Character: His past life as Osiris during the Dark War mirrors Bloodedge's as the unsung seventh member of the Six Heroes.
  • The Greatest Story Never Told: He fought alongside the six heroes, though he isn't officially recognized as one. This is because Terumi killed his past life before he had the chance.
  • Luke, I Am Your Father: In a way, he's this to Ragna. His past life as Osiris fell in love with one of the Maidens, resulting in affair that gave birth to a child which would eventually become the Black Beast. Since Ragna is the reincarnation of the Beast, this basically means that Ozpin is his father.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Way to go Ozpin, you defied a god who explicitly told you not to father any children, resulting in an Eldritch Abomination that's basically the reason why the Remnant is such a Crapsack World in the first place!
    Glynda Goodwitch

Glynda Goodwitch

Ozpin's right-hand woman and a combat instructor at Beacon.
  • Badass Teacher: Comes with being the combat instructor at Beacon.
  • Secret-Keeper: She's one of the few that know of Ozpin's past and reincarnation abilities.
  • Stern Teacher: Makes it clear to Ragna that his rebellious attitude will not be tolerated.
    Rachel Alucard

Rachel Alucard

The head of the Alucard Clan, a family of vampires. Despite appearing as a young girl, Rachel has lived for a near-eternity behind the scenes, content to observe the world and its ways. She is a member of Ozpin's inner circle, allying herself with the other professors of Huntsman Academies to keep Remnant safe from the Grimm and Salem.
    Litchi Faye-Ling

Litchi Faye-Ling

Beacon's nurse. She seems to be a member of Ozpin's inner circle and is quite knowledgeable on Personas.

The Six Heroes

    In General
A group of warriors who rose up and fought against the Black Beast, an ancient Grimm that nearly destroyed the world. They are remembered as among the greatest warriors in Remnant's history, as well as the most powerful.
  • The Ace: They are among the most powerful beings to have ever walked the face of Remnant, and in their respective fields, they have no equal.
  • Breaking the Fellowship: Terumi pretty much caused them to fall apart after the events of The Dark War.
  • Famed In-Story: As is noted, they are extremely well known for their accomplishments during The Dark War.
  • One-Man Army: In order to take on a monster such as the Black Beast and win, you'd have to be this at your absolute worst.
    Hakumen

Hakumen

The leader of the Six Heroes during their crusade against the Black Beast. Hakumen was known as "The White Void" and is one of the most powerful warriors to have ever lived. Being empowered by the body of the god Susano'o granted him immeasurable power that allowed him to fight against and slay the Black Beast. Unknown to the rest of the world, he is hidden beneath Beacon. It is likely that Ozpin awaits the time that he can be reawakened. His weapon was a large odachi blade called Okami.
  • BFS: Wielded the Okami, which is as tall as him.
  • Light Is Good: He was the leading force against the Black Beast and wore white armor.
  • Physical God: His body originally belonged to Susano'o, one of Remnant's gods. He literally wears the body of a deity.
  • Red Baron: The White Void.
  • Sealed Good in a Can: He currently lies dormant underneath Beacon Academy alongside the Fall Maiden, Amber.
  • World's Strongest Man: Was this during the Dark War, surpassing even Jubei.
    Jubei

Jubei

A "pure-breed" Faunus, and one of the Six Heroes known as "The One-eyed Lotus" who risked his life to defeat the Black Beast, and is one of the few members of the group still active in the world. As the strongest being to ever walk through Remnant, he has lived for hundreds of years, and adopted Ragna to appoint him as his successor, even getting him into Beacon through a recommendation. Unlike most Faunus types, Jubei physically appears as a walking, talking cat, owing more to his unique DNA structure.
  • Action Dad: Being one of the warriors who stopped the Black Beast and the father of Kokonoe lands him here. He also technically counts as one for Ragna, since he's the closest thing his student can associate with a father.
  • Badass Adorable: He's a small anthropomorphic cat-man, and he's the strongest being in the world.
  • Badass Teacher: To give you an idea, this is the same guy who taught Ragna the art of combat.
  • Cool Sword: His twin katanas, the Musashi.
  • Fantastic Racism: Despite being integral to saving the planet from the Black Beast, he still gets this. Probably justified by the first time we hear of it coming from Jacques Schnee.
  • Morality Pet: He's among the few individuals Ragna has nothing but respect and admiration for. Makes sense when you realize this guy is basically Ragna's father in all but blood.
  • Old Master: Old age hasn't slowed this cat down a bit. It has only sharpened his skills.
  • Really 700 Years Old: He's centuries old by the time the story starts, though that's not to say that he doesn't age.
  • Red Baron: The One-eyed Lotus.
  • World's Strongest Man: He's considered to be the most powerful warrior on the planet.
    Nine

Nine

A member of the Six Heroes known as "The Great Magister Nine", Jubei's late wife and the mother of Kokonoe. She was the first person to discover and teach mankind "The Power of the Soul", or semblance. Unfortunately, she met her end at the hands of Yuuki Terumi.
    Trinity Glassfile

Trinity Glassfile

A member of the Six Heroes known as "The Platinum Alchemist" and the best friend of Nine. She bears the distinction of being the one to discover Dust and teach mankind to weaponize it. Like Nine, she was killed by Yuuki Terumi.
    Valkenhayn R. Hellsing

Valkenhayn R. Hellsing

A member of the Six Heroes known as "The Silver Wolf" and servant to the Alucard family. He is a faunas with wolf-like properties, though compared to most, he has more in common with a lycan. He is among the few members of the Six Heroes still left in the world, serving dutifully as Rachel Alucard's butler.
  • Battle Butler: Serves as the Alucard family butler and was a legendary hero during the Dark War.
  • Red Baron: The Silver Wolf.
    Yuuki Terumi

Yuuki Terumi/Susano'o

Originally one of the Six Heroes, he betrayed them and killed off both Nine and Trinity at some point after the Dark War. While he is assumed dead, there are signs pointing to his return.Originally, he was the god known as Susano'o, who was cast out for unintentionally bringing the Black Beast into the world. His spirit remained as and was eventually reborn as Yuuki Terumi, roaming the world until he re-encountered his original body. He eventually decided to join The Six Heroes for two reasons: To see the death of the Black Beast through, and to get his revenge on Osiris, the man who disobeyed him, resulting in him being cast out.
  • Adaptational Heroism: Not presently, but in his past as Susano'o, he was a benevolent god who aided his siblings in the creation of mankind and gifted them with their abilities. In canon, he was a prick through and through from the start. However, being cast out left him bitter, building up until he's the monster we know him as.
  • Ax-Crazy: From what little we see of him (destroying Vale and beating Ruby within an inch of her life with a sadistic smile on his face), this is very gross understatement.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Whatever the fight was like between him and Ruby, it's very unlikely that he put much effort into it.
  • The Dreaded: Ozpin fears his return, and Ruby had a horrifying nightmare about him despite not knowing who he is personally.
  • Jerkass: Gee, ya think!?
  • It's Personal: He really hates Ozpin (Osiris) since he's the reason he was cast out in the first place.
  • Power Of Hate: He gets stronger the more people despise him in a similar way to Hazama. That's not suspicious at all.
  • Token Evil Teammate: Was this to The Six Heroes, as he joined less out of altruism and more out of biding his time to take his vengeance against Osiris.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: He wasn't always the monster he is now, but being cast out due to the mistakes of another mortal made him resentful and bitter, and it only grew as time went on.

Vale Police Force

    Kagura Mutsuki

Kagura Mutsuki

The current field captain of the Vale Police Department and a renowned warrior known as The Black Knight. While incredibly talented and powerful, he's also known for being quite the ladies man. His semblance, Black Gale, grants him access to different combat stances that he can use for charge attacks or stance maneuvers to alter his offensive options, as well as channel and emit dark energy as a short range projectile attack. His weapon of choice is an unnamed large black sword.
  • The Ace: He was this in canon, but he's also one here as well. He is quite famous for his reputation as the Black Knight and is the only known person to have ever matched Azrael in a one-on-one fight and even defeated him.
  • BFS: His sword his enormous, dwarfing even Ragna's Blood-Scythe in size.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Saves Orie from Azrael's onslaught.
  • Blue Is Heroic: In contrast to his Dark Is Not Evil canon-self, this Kagura wears a blue version of his usual outfit, showing his affiliation with the VPD.
  • Chivalrous Pervert: He's really into the ladies, but he is respectful and charming.
  • Famed In-Story: He didn't get the title of "Black Knight" by being a pencil pusher. He's also the only person to have ever fought the Mad Dog and won.
  • Nice Guy: Lecherous attitude aside, he's a pleasant person to be around.
  • One-Handed Zweihänder: He swings that over-sized blade with just one hand very easily.
  • Red Baron: The Black Knight.
  • Worthy Opponent: Is seen as one by Azrael. When he learns that being a distraction for the VPD would involve fighting Kagura again, he is positively ecstatic.
    Chie Satonaka

Chie Satonaka

One of Yu's friends and an original member of The Investigation Team from Yasogami High. After the Grimm attack caused the group to go their separate ways, she decided to enter the Vale Police Academy. She uses her Persona, Tomoe, in battle and is primarily a Kick Chick when it comes to fighting.
    Naoto Shirogane

Naoto Shirogane

A young private detective and a former member of the Investigation Team. After the Grimm attack caused the group to disband, she went on her own to pursue a private investigation career. In combat, she typically fights with a basic revolver, using it with deadly accuracy. Her Persona, Sukuna-Hikona, allows her to set special traps for her enemies.

Unknown to those not within her inner circle, she actually works for an ancient being named Salem. Before she gained the Fall Maiden's abilities, her semblance, while unnamed, allowed her to manipulate dust and sand. With currently half of the Fall Maiden's power at her disposal, she can control and manipulate the elements, but has a strong preference and specialization in fire. Combined with her semblance, she can turn sand and dust into glass to strike at her opponents with. Her weapon tends to vary, but she has a preference toward swords and bows.
  • Ambition Is Evil: She seeks to attain the power of the Fall Maiden and will do whatever it takes to get it.
  • Berserk Button: Anything that could ruin her plans seems to get her enraged. When she learns that Kokonoe got some information on "Project: Murakumo", she started to lose it until Hazama calmed her down.
  • The Chessmaster: She has a plan to destabilize Vale while gaining the Fall Maiden power for herself.

Cinder's equal in their plan to destabilize Vale and a spy within the Atlas Bureau of Intelligence. Despite his lax demeanor, he is very sly, sadistic and cunning. His resemblance to an ancient enemy of Ozpin is also worrying. His Semblance is unknown, but it allows him to feed off the hatred others bear for him to strengthen himself. His main weapon is a pair of butterfly knives and a serpent-like chain called Ouroboros. Not much else has been revealed about him.
  • The Ageless: After he became Terumi's host, his body permanently stopped aging.
  • Animal Motifs: Snakes.
  • Badass in a Nice Suit: He pulls off the looks rather well.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: He may act suave and friendly, but it's best if you keep your wits about when around him.
  • Composite Character: He and Kazuma are the same person, whereas in canon, they were two entirely separate hosts for Terumi.
  • Eyes Always Shut: Pray to God you never see them open.
  • Green and Mean: He's got green hair and is one of the villains.
  • Power Of Hate: He can feed off others' hate for him to fuel his own strength.
  • Really 700 Years Old: He's been around since before the end of the Dark War.
  • Psycho Knife Nut: Wields twin butterfly knives, and is a manipulative sadist who can feed off of hate.
  • Troll: The fans don't call him Trollzama for nothing. He casually makes fun of Cinder while she's having a breakdown.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: Then Terumi's machinations and becoming the host of the former god warped him into a manipulative schemer of the highest order.

A mercenary and hired help for Cinder's group. He's highly feared and respected in his line of work as the "Grim Reaper". His Semblance, Snatcher, allows him to use his claw like fingernails to rip out pieces of his enemies souls. His weapon is a large scythe called The Devourer, granting him long reach and like his Semblance can also harvest the souls of his enemies.
  • Adaptational Villainy: Downplayed. He was originally a Heroic Neutral character in UNIB, but here, he serves the villains. Though he does stress that he's simply doing his job as a mercenary, so it's justifiable.
  • Affably Evil: He works for Cinder, but he's rather charming and polite, even to his enemies.
  • The Dreaded: He's earned his keep as the "Grim Reaper". Yosuke starts freaking out when he first sees him.
  • No Challenge Equals No Satisfaction: He dislikes the mediocre jobs Cinder gives him and would prefer something more challenging.
  • Red Baron: The Grim Reaper, Gordeau the Harvester.
  • Sinister Scythe: And unlike Ruby's and Ragna's, it doesn't shift into other forms. It's just a large, deadly scythe that can drain the souls of his victims.
  • Token Good Teammate: He's overall a pretty Nice Guy, it's just his mercenary occupation that has him serving the villains.
  • Your Soul Is Mine!: His semblance and scythe can both harvest the souls of his victims.
    Emerald Sustrai

Emerald Sustrai

A former street-urchin who was taken in by Cinder, she now serves her with upmost loyalty and devotion. Her Semblance is Illusion, which allows her to cause her enemies to see things not truly there. Her weapons are dual pistols that transform into small kamas.
  • Berserk Button: Questioning Cinder seems to be one. She got a bit aggressive when Gordeau complained about the jobs Cinder was giving him.
  • Undying Loyalty: Toward Cinder.
    Mercury Black

Mercury Black

The son of the assassin, Marcus Black, Mercury is a highly skilled professional killer. Despite his lazy demeanor, he is a ruthless combatant who doesn't play fair. Unknown to others, his legs are robotic, having been removed some time before the series. His semblance is unknown, but he fights with his weaponized boots. His overall fighting style also has similarities to break-dancing.
  • Dance Battler: His overall fighting style has many similarities to break-dancing.
  • Kick Chick: Male example. His battle style revolves heavily around kicking.

A highly feared individual known as The Mad Dog of Vacuo, he serves as the powerhouse for Cinder's crew. Unlike his leaders, he is not an ambitious individual, only serving so that he can fight powerful opponents. His semblance is known as Terror, which lets him identify weak points in his opponent and then strike at them. He has no weapon and dislikes the idea of using them, but it's not like he really needs any.
  • Berserk Button: Implying that there is anything more to life than battle seems to piss him off.
  • Beyond the Impossible: When Emerald casts an illusion to hide her, Cinder, and Azrael, he remains completely unaffected and visible to onlookers. He's so strong that he can just ignore peoples' semblances.
  • The Brute: He's physically both the biggest and strongest warrior at Cinder's disposal.
  • Blood Knight: He's only really interested in fighting powerful opponents. He is thrilled at the thought of getting to fight a powerful enemy like Kagura Mutsuki. During his fight with Orie and Akihiko, he outright states that there is no meaning to anything unless there is conflict.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: They tried damn hard, but nothing Orie nor Akihiko could do was able to put a dent in Azrael, much to his disappointment.
  • The Dreaded: He's called the Mad Dog for a good reason.
  • Nigh-Invulnerable: Have fun trying to hurt him! You won't even be able to tickle him. In his "fight" with Orie and Akihiko, none of their attacks could hurt him.
  • No Challenge Equals No Satisfaction: Only powerful opponents can satisfy him. He greatly despises the idea of fighting the Vale Police because he sees them as small fry not worth his time. Then he hears that Kagura is their field captain...
  • Red Baron: The Mad Dog of Vacuo.
  • Super-Strength: Even by the standards of Remnant's physically strongest beings, Azrael is in a league of his own. Against most opponents, one of his basic punches can completely drain their Aura. The actual limits of his strength have yet to be determined.

A member of the Vale police force, but is in actuality a mole for Cinder's group. Despite his harmless appearance, he is far more dangerous than than he lets on. He typically uses a handgun, but unlike the rest of Cinder's associates, he is also the bearer of a Persona. His Persona, Magatsu-Izanagi bears a disturbing resemblance to Yu Narukami's own Persona, albeit in a dark and twisted way.
  • Dirty Cop: Is a mole for Cinder's group.
  • Et Tu, Brute?: Subverted. Cinder has Azrael incapacitate him against his will largely to throw Naoto off their trail.
  • Fighting Spirit: His Persona: Magatsu-Izanagi.
  • The Generic Guy: Out of all of Cinder's associates, he comes across as the most plain in appearance. This actually helps him as Cinder's mole since it makes him harder to track.
  • Smug Smiler: Gives Roman a very arrogant grin as he insults him.

Other Characters

    Jin

Jin Kisaragi

Ragna's younger brother. He was adopted into a wealthy family in Atlas known as the Kisaragi family. His relationship with his elder brother is... complicated. His semblance, Frostbite, grants him cryokinetic abilities. His main weapon is a katana called Yukianesa.
  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: Like Ragna this trope is heavily inverted. He was never brainwashed into cutting off Ragna's arm or helping Terumi burn the church down.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: Word of God states that his relationship with his brother is much less antagonistic than it was in the games, though it still isn't a friendly one.
  • Adaptational Sexuality: Played With. In the games, he would enter this Yandere state when around Ragna, going through a killing obsession that had certain...undertones. Word of God confirms that this is not the case here.
  • Cain and Abel: Was the Cain to Saya's Abel, as he tried to kill her for unknown reasons.
  • Cool Sword: His katana: Yukianesa. It's longer than a normal katana and he can channel his semblance through it.
  • An Ice Person: His semblance gives him the ability to control, emit, and manipulate ice and frost. He's also a very cold and aloof person overall.
  • Jerkass: Word of God confirms that he still is one, just slightly less so(slightly being the operative word here).
    Saya

Saya

Ragna and Jin's younger sister. She was adopted by an Atlesian scientist and became the first test subject for "Project: Murakumo".
  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: The only one of the three siblings that doesn't invert this trope and plays it out like it did in canon. Just like the games, she gets taken and experimented for nefarious purposes, but it's arguably worse here. Unlike the games, neither Ragna nor Jin know of her whereabouts or that she was taken somewhere dangerous, so as far as we know, nobody is coming to her rescue.
    Mitsuru Kirijo

Mitsuru Kirijo

Heiress to the Kirijo Group, a Dust company and rival to the Schnee family's own. She inherited her role from her recently-deceased father Takeharu, despite still being a student. She has remained firm in opposing an alliance with the Schnee Dust Corporation, owing to continuing her family's desire to remain independent of external influences.
  • The Rival: Her company, the Kirijo Group, is the primary rival for the Schnee Dust company when it comes to Dust mining and manufacturing. The Schnee family has continually tried to either enter an alliance with them or buy them out, but to no success.
    Yosuke Hanamura

Yosuke Hanamura

A former member of the Investigation Team, and currently a junior manager of Junes, a supermarket chain which his father works at as well. He had heavily considered transferring into Beacon along with Yu and Kanji, but was forced to stay behind in order to help his parents. Blake meets him when she attempts to look for part-time work.
  • Butt-Monkey: True to form, when on his "date" with Blake, the first thing that happens is... she ditches him when she believes she saw a White Fang member going into an alley.
  • Fighting Spirit: His Persona: Jiraiya.
    Orie Ballardiae

Orie Ballardiae

A first-year student from Haven Academy and close friend of Akihiko. As a Huntress-in-training, Orie possesses a strong sense of justice and strives to stop evil were she sees it. Her weapon of choice is a simple rapier sword named The Ruler, which she fights with alongside her Persona, Thanatos.
  • Adaptational Superpower Change: Her EXS ability is re-imagined as a Persona here. It's more noticeable since everyone else from UNIB had there EXS abilities turned into Semblances while she gets a Persona.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: No matter what she did, she was unable to hurt Azrael and wound up getting beaten.
  • Fighting Spirit: Her Persona: Thanatos.
  • For Great Justice: She has a strong belief in upholding justice, stating that her pursuit of said justice is her driving force.
    The Black Beast

The Black Beast

An ancient entity in Remnant's history that is known as the first Grimm to have appeared, spawning the rest as it rampaged across the world. It was eventually defeated by The Six Heroes roughly a hundred years ago. The terror that the Beast spread throughout the world lives on in Remnant to this day.
  • The Ace: Back when it was still human, it was known for being superior to its peers in almost every way. But...
  • Broken Ace: It harbored uncontrollable rage within it, growing until it was corrupted into the monster humanity fears.
  • Eldritch Abomination: Whereas the other Grimm are more of the Animalistic Abomination archetype, the Beast was straight up incomprehensible to anyone. It emitted noxious clouds that blocked out the sun for almost a thousand years.
  • Demon of Human Origin: The Beast was originally the son of one of the Maidens that turned into a corrupt monster through uncontrollable rage.
  • The Dreaded: The world feared this thing above all other Grimm for a very good reason. Ragna recites a verse that Jubei taught him which shows how feared it was:
Eyes of Red, darker than the night sky
Upon the throne of the king, undone
Feral as a beast, the Dark One did feast
    The days without the sun.
  • Mother of a Thousand Young: It's body spawned all Grimm that exist in the world.
