Awesome / The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder

Go To

Season 1

"New Kids on the Block"
  • After spending the entirety of the episode trying to get Maya to like her, Penny decides to draw the line by telling Maya that she can't believe she tried to gain her friendship and points out the inherent wrongness and pointlessness of trying to help Suggie escape.
  • At the dance, Penny puts her foot down on Oscar trying to control her fashion choices and love life. He is actually cowed by her for once and comments on how she is becoming like her mother.

"Bad Influence(r)"

  • You gotta admit, Penny's notoriety as an influencer made gave even Wizard Kelly a run for his money, that no tricks he had up his sleeve could give him an edge if he got canceled by her.

"It All Started with an Orange Basketball"

  • Penny decides that she has had enough of Oscar bossing her around and decides to stand up for herself and refuses to play his game for him at all when he rants at her.

"Father Figures"

  • KG stands up to Frankie when the guy picks on him.
  • Maya outright refusing to pay up to Nubia when the latter tries to shake her down for cash. And later when Penny and Co. back up Maya, also finally standing up to her.
  • The entire family is openly disgusted by Oscar's homophobia and lets him know it in a nonverbal way.
  • The kiss between Barry and Randall during the houseparty, officially the first same-sex kiss in Disney Television Animation. Now, this is something that could never fly if it were on Disney Channel.note

"Snackland"

  • After pretty much everyone discouraged Penny because of deep singing voice, it's Lizzo that gives Penny a well-needed spirit-lift with a (unforgivably censored) Good as Hell montage, encouraging her to follow whatever dream she and not be afraid to be herself, which has always been Lizzo's schtick.
  • At the concert, Lizzo introduces Penny as the lead singer of LPDZ (much to LaCienega and Oscar's chagrin) and she sings the song in a fantastic view. Even when LaCienega tries to keep Penny out and have the spotlight to herself, Penny quickly takes back what her horrid "friend" took away from her.
    • Doubles as heartwarming, when Oscar tries to complain about Penny's voice to Trudy, instead of just standing for her dick husband any longer, Trudy has Lizzo's bodyguard Deathwish beat up Oscar (for the second time).
  • It’s pretty awesome how Bebe and Cece were finally given full names (Benjamin and Cecelia, respectively).

"Get In"

  • Suga Mama summing up her independence to Oscar with four words, "Not now. Not ever."
  • Penny and her friends were able to have a successful business. If only it weren't for Oscar giving Mr. Chips a fake driver's license, Penny would have potentially become as rich as Wizard Kelly!

"Old Towne Road Part 1"

  • Oscar once again shows off his badass side; he proves he's not only an ace with a lasso, but he can also ride the wildest horse on the ranch!
  • A flashback showed that Suga Mama is a naturally gifted bullrider, even wearing out the family's bull. Too bad her father doesn't approve of her bullriding solely because of her gender.

Season 2

"Old Towne Road Part 2"
  • Oscar winning the horse riding event.
  • Everything Quanah accomplished after letting Suga Mama go back in the day: he became the chief of his tribe, went to Harvard, and got a degree in law. Then, sued for his people's land back and won.
  • Suga Mama winning the rodeo and finally getting Pa Towne's respect.

"Grandma's Hands"

  • Zoey standing up to Wizard Kelly and not even caring that she got fired for it.

"Curved"

  • The debate team delivering an amazing spoken word on slavery's roots in American history to argue in favor of reparations for slavery. It earns them a standing ovation and the debate trophy.

"A Perfect 10"

  • Suga Mama’s "The Reason You Suck" Speech to everyone for taking advantage of LaCienega‘s talents while also calling out the girl herself for letting her ego get out of control.

“Puff Daddy”

  • It’s mostly played off as funny, but kudos to Michael, knowing his boundaries and quitting his non paying intern job, acknowledging that his boss is too cruel for his liking. He also warns Penny about how to not get in too much trouble with Talia. It shows that even with his snarky remarks, he still tries to look at for his friends.
    • That being said, it would have been more awesome for Michael to have Penny rethink her decision of being his replacement, rather than just let her be in a somewhat toxic environment.

“Juneteenth”

  • A lot of this episode has awesome moments.
  • The gang realizing the founder Smith was a slave owner and standing their ground, petitioning his celebration be stopped.
  • Kareem protecting Penny from the police.
  • When the police are closing in on the protestors, Barry pulls out his detective badge and orders the police to leave them alone since they’re protesting peacefully. While it doesn’t work, since they knock the badge out of his hand and arrest him along with the protestors, the fact remains he still tried to protect a group of teens (including his children) from Police Brutality.
  • During their time in prison, the protestors still stand their ground and even livestream the whole situation to show others. Even with the chance of getting out of prison, everyone stays in until more is done about the situation.
  • The protestors reveal the truth and replace Smith’s statue with a tribute to Emily, one of his former slaves and the one who guided Maya to the truth.
  • Maya’s speech.
