  • Ash's Charmander, up to becoming Charizard, used a blanket like Linus from Peanuts to fight. After becoming a Charizard, he uses it as a scarf to hold his Charizardite X.
  • Ash's Butterfree learned Giga Impact to save the pink Butterfree from a wild Fearow.
  • Ash won the Laramine Ranch's annual race like in cannon, but he also had to contend with Gary on an Arcanine and Suicune whom was keeping things fair by wearing several weights.
  • In the first chapter, Makoto isn't phased by Team Rocket and ties up Ekans into a knot.
  • Chapter 7:
    • Makoto intimidating the students picking on Joe by crushing a part of the machine they were using with just one hand.
    • Instead of Ash fighting Giselle, it's Tsubaki. While Giselle uses a Sableye, Tsubaki receives a Riolu. Giselle didn't know it knew neither Foresight nor Blaze Kick, allowing Riolu to best the Sableye despite the Type Disadvantage Riolu had. Even more, Giselle let Tsubaki keep the Riolu because he listened to her when Riolu refused to do so for anyone else.
    • Kajun spent the entire chapter taking several exams in the school. She now has the graduation diploma students can earn to take on the Pokémon League without having to travel and train.
  • Chapter 8:
    • Team Rocket actually faired better against A.J. this time, managing to get Sandshrew on the verge of losing.
    • A.J.'s Sandshrew evolves into Sandslash and shows just what he can do, taking each Pokémon out one by one and then showing off he knows Hyper Beam.
  • Chapter 23:
    • Team Rocket succeeds in occupying Saffron City (especially Silph Co.) thanks to Giovanni deploying Mewtwo to keep Sabrina occupied, his psychic power so strong that he was able to cut her off from the outside world.
    • Red, like in the games, makes his way through Silph Co in order to battle Giovanni. Unlike the games, the assistant in the president's office is his mom, which makes this attack personal.
    • Red shows off how he does battle by 'talking' using his PokeDex to speak for him in battles.
    • When Sabrina was fighting Mewtwo, all of her Pokémon aside from Kadabra and decided to take Mewtwo on herself, but is ultimately not managing to even once make the intruder move from the single spot he was standing on.
    • Ash manages to win the Marsh Badge not through physical battling, but by utilizing a strategy that people considered crazy: make Sabrina laugh by having Gengar pull off various pranks on her Kadabra.
  • Chapter 24:
    • Lt. Surge returns, doing some community service to clear up the complaints about him and his gym, and goes Drill Sergeant Nasty on the Fighting-Type Gym that is temporarily running in the Psychic-Type Gym's place due to Sabrina needing to get out all the suppressed emotions she had in her.
    • After a startling failure of a first battle, Ash and Makoto return to the Gym to challenge Brick's Conkeldurr and Crabominable with Pikachu and Honey the Buneary as Gengar and Izayoi deal with the Ekans Brick was using to paralyze his opponents.
  • Chapter 32:
    • Ken and La getting the crowd of Pokémon Trainers to settle down and realize that they and the construction worker might be disturbing the Digletts' home, and that their Pokémon already have enough common sense to realize that.
    • When Gary continues to belittle Ash and is still persistent on getting the girls of Remix Heart to join him instead, Kajun and Tsubaki (with Luca's intervention) deliver an epic "The Reason You Suck" Speech to the jerkass.
Tsubaki: Oh no thank you. We'd rather not be with a Trainer that can't even send out their Pokémon. Luca, please come out. You won't have to battle the Diglett if you don't want to. (releases Luca) See?
Gary: ...so you took notice of that, too... well regardless, there's nothing else to do except watch that old geezer play Whack a Diglett.
Kajun: And as for Ashton being 'dead last in terms of Pokémon talent'...
      Gary: Yeah... what about it?
Kajun: I'll have you know he has five Badges, of which I helped him attained with my personal training program... and one of the badges is for a Gym meant for Trainers with FIVE Badges beforehand... when he only had three.
Gary: ...so? I got 15 Badges. Can h-
Kajun: Let me finish... (Gary tenses up) and while you said 'those who brag about their Pokémon are lame amateurs'... not once has Ashton even talked about them like you have with your own.
      Gary: ...W...well...
Tsubaki: Then there's the amount of Pokémon you have caught... claiming quantity over quality... (Luca's eyes glow with Foresight) That... is simply untrue. With the right training and proper care, a Pokemon can take on even a fully evolved one. My advice? Speak with your grandfather about what Ash has registered in his Pokedex under Seen and Caught.
Kajun: And as for me... (grabs Gary by scruff of his shirt, causing him to tense up further) You ever... EVER try and shatter Ashton's spirit like that again... or even attempt to ask me or my compatriots to abandon him for your selfish desires... I will have Hikari Teleport me to where YOU are at... and I will personally show you my training at the military academy my friends and I had attended before coming here to Kanto. (releases him) Now please, do be on your way, Mr. Oak. I do hope you try to think before speaking, less you do something to cause trouble with your grandfather and his lab.
    • And with that, Gary and his cheerleaders drive off in his sportscar in fear, the latter screaming! Karma at its finest.
    • La unleashing Pele's Z-Move, Corkscrew Crash, to send Team Rocket flying.
  • Chapter 53:
    • Gary interests Kira enough for her to use two of her personal Pokemon. While offscreen, Gary was still able to earn the Earth Badge from her.
    • Kira decides to challenge Ash with her personal team of Pokemon: a Volcarona, Metagross, Baxcalibur, Primarina, Spiritomb, and Delphox.
    • The gift from Mama-san and her kin that they wanted to give to Ash came in really handy for the Gym Battle. It was a Shiny Zoroark that hid as Primeape, allowing him to score a KO on Kira's Metagross.
    • Pikachu is the only Pokemon on Ash's team that was able to take down two of Kira's Pokemon: Calliope the Primarina and Hades the Spiritomb.
    • When Kira is down to her last Pokemon, she gives a ritualistic declaration and Velvet responds in kind, showcasing her capabilities as she appears on the field.
Kira: "Arise! Oh great Sage! Born of a soul of Light, forged in the Darkness of my soul! Come forth through the Gateway of Chaos! Become the winds of unstoppable might! Let nature itself tremble through your great flames and indomitable will! Controller of Insanity! Master of all Magicians! My Very Starter! Velvet!"
    • Velvet goes on to show just why she's Kira's Starter Pokemon, taking down both Pikachu and Charizard with minimal effort.
    • Mega Gengar vs Terastallized Velvet.
    • While we don't get to see the entire battle, Red defeats Giovanni and earns the man's respect and has him leave Team Rocket, the organization that he built.
