  • "Well, recent TMNT games have been uniformly mediocre. At least we got the fanmade Rescue-Palooza— what, there's an honest-to-goodness brand-new, 80s-based TMNT game in the style of the Konami beat'em ups? From DotEmu and Tribute Games!? Chromedome's back? Master Splinter actually left the sidelines to fight with his sons? Even April is getting to kick some Foot Soldier butt! Cowabunga!!!"
    • Making the deal even sweeter is that not only did Mike Patton sing the actual theme song, but the game's composer was later revealed to be Tee Lopes of Sonic Mania fame.
  • Coming to you live from Channel 6, April O'Neil is indeed confirmed to be playable!
  • This Game Reactor interview with the DotEmu CEO Cyrille Imbert had him confirm that more characters besides April and the Turtles would be coming for the game's launch, to the pleasure of all Turtlemania veterans.
  • After skipping out on the Tournament Fighters games, Master Splinter finally became playable in an '87 Turtles beat 'em up.
  • The game will also include voice acting, with Cam Clarke, Rob Paulsen, Townsend Coleman, and Barry Gordon all coming back as the Turtles.
  • In regards to the confirmation of a physical release from Limited Run Games in the US, there's no need to worry about it falling prey to their usual practices, because it'll be distributed to major retailers like Amazon!
  • For anyone who wanted some variety in the usual roster of bosses, they'll be in for a treat because the game designer Frédéric Gémus revealed that there are over 20 of them this time around, all from the '87 rogues gallery.
  • If the classic beat 'em ups seemed a little on the short side, this game will make up for it as this interview revealed that there would be 16 levels, which is 6 more than the SNES version of Turtles in Time!
  • And here's the cherry on top: Casey Jones is confirmed to be playable! And co-op is up to SIX players!
  • What could make this game even better? A guest song from none other than Ghostface Killah and Raekwon The Chef of the Wu-Tang Clan, of course.
  • The Spotify album page upload confirmed even more awesome guest musicians prior to the launch, such as Jonny Atma and Mega Ran!
  • The December 22nd, 2022 update added new Custom Game options that finally allowed players to make the game as easy or difficult as they want, with elements like super moves activated with health consumption like in the old days, and the Free Game that prevents game overs. The update also came with optional retro filters that give an even more authentic old-school experience.
  • On June 7, 2023, a DLC expansion called Dimension Shellshock was announced for it to release later in the year, coming with a brand-new mode, alternate color palettes (with a separate second free update that has more palettes coming later), more music composed by Tee Lopes and new playable characters. The first one of these new playable characters? None other than the TMNT crossover regular Miyamoto Usagi, of Usagi Yojimbo fame!
  • The trailer dropped on July 13, 2023 has confirmed details for Dimension Shellshock being a survival mode with an actual fixed objective of 100 combat challenges, extra perks obtained after clearing each combat challenge, and the option of continuing indefinitely after Shredder is defeated. The kicker is that one of those perks allows you to temporarily play as the villains, namely Bebop, Rocksteady and Shredder himself!
  • It's been confirmed that Karai will be playable in Dimension Shellshock! Although she never appeared in 1987 show in any form or fashion, that didn't stop the Tribute Games from incorporating her as the ninth playable character overall. Several compromises were made: Karai has the stance and several moves borrowed from her SNES Tournament Fighters counterpart, the design from 2003 cartoon (adjusted to fit the '87 continuity better), as well as the personality of her 2012 self.
  • As a completely free content update for everyone, there's a set of color palettes with every basic palette the Turtles have had in games going... including a greenscale palette, referencing the Game Boy titles!
