And The Fandom Rejoiced / amiibo

Go To

These moments were good days for fans, which goes to show how far amiibo have come.

  • Amiibo for Mewtwo, Lucas, Roy and Ryu, alongside other Smash 4 DLC characters in the future.
  • Yarn Yoshi amiibo.
    • Speaking of which, Yoshi's Woolly World has it so you can make them have skins of most of the Super Smash Bros. roster (excepting Pokémon), the Inklings, and Toad.
  • Amiibo getting restocked in general.
    • Marth getting restocked internationally, along with Ike. Some Best Buy stores during the fall restock received tens of Marth figurines.
    • In mid-summer 2015, a ton of rare amiibo were restocked internationally, including Ness, Shulk, Dedede, and even Rosalina & Luma. Not to mention, resell prices dropped as a side effect.
    • Toys 'R' Us, Best Buy, and later GameStop receiving massive shippings of well-known rare amiibo like Little Mac, Captain Falcon, Fox, and Lucario weeks after the release of Wave 5B further ensured fans that stock was improving.
  • Greninja turning out to be the first extremely well-stocked store exclusive (even after pre-orders) at launch. Palutena follows suit as the first well-stocked online exclusive, even following the initial crash at 5 P.M. EST on the dot. Fellow Toys 'R' Us exclusive Bowser Jr. also had a lot of stock at launch, with stores containing at least about thirty amiibo.
  • From July 10th to July 23rd, for almost two whole weeks, Jigglypuff was up for ordering, enough to take it out of Unicorn status and make it an uncommon amiibo. This sparked hope for the amiibo hunting community, considering that the first time that it was up, it was only up for ~5 minutes (Jigglypuff is an easier amiibo to produce as well).
    • Made even better that Jigglypuff was restocked again on August 28th, 2015, and has lasted until September 18th, 2015, which is longer than the previous one, but almost THREE WEEKS.
    • Jigglypuff again got an online restock in February 2016, except that she's now no longer a Target exclusive. She's now available at Gamestop.
  • Dark Pit (Best Buy exclusive) and Palutena (Amazon exclusive) not having any pre-orders. It may sound rough, but it means that there is more stock for those two on their launch dates (for both online and in Dark Pit's case, store as well). This applies for people who live near a Best Buy, as some may not be so lucky.
    • It was especially helpful for Mexican fans of Palutena. While she is exclusive to a specific retailer in Mexico, customers could still buy her from the US Amazon site, so that gives fans more opportunities to obtain her.
  • Through many games, Pokémon haven't been so lucky when it has come to amiibo support... What's this? Super Mario Maker will support Pokémon amiibo?
    • Although subtly, Kirby: Planet Robobot allows Pokemon amiibo to be abilities. For instance, Greninja gives out the Ninja ability and Pikachu gives out the Spark ability.
  • The surprisingly large amount of GameStop preorders for the retro three-pack that were available on 8/8 (about 50 of them per store on average). It was reported that most people were able to successfully obtain a pre-order even after 9 AM. Then, two days later, leftover preorders became available online, allowing even those who missed 8/8 to order the three-pack. It sold out a week before release and was out of stock for a few days, only to go back in stock in time for release.
  • Shovel Knight became the first indie amiibo.
  • Smash Wave 5B was almost completely bereft of the stock problems (with the small exception for Bowser Jr, although that's more of a regional issue) that plagued previous waves, made even better by the fact that it contained fan-favorite characters Zero Suit Samus and Ganondorf.
    • Made better by releases that followed. The Retro Three Pack, the Mii Fighters, Falco, and even Mewtwo are not affected by stock problems.
    • Even better that not even Roy is affected by these stock problems, making him the very first Fire Emblem amiibo to be easy to find at initial launch.
  • Apparently, the retailer-exclusives are starting to come to an end, beginning with Best Buy seemingly on the way to stock on Lucario & Greninja (previously Toys'R'Us exclusives) and Shulk (previously exclusive to Gamestop). Along with this, it also seems Toys'R'Us is stocking on those 3 while also getting Captain Falcon, Little Mac and Fox.
    • And then it was announced that the Mii 3-pack and Mega Yarn Yoshi were going to be Toys'R'Us exclusives, that Falco was going to be a Best Buy exclusive and that Villager was going to be re-released only at Toys'R'Us which kind of turns him into an exclusive...
    • And just in time for Pokemon day, Jigglypuff is now available at Gamestop, once again giving her another abundant restock.
  • Alongside Twilight Princess HD, we have a new amiibo of Wolf Link and Midna, and it looks fantastic. Charizard itself was also pretty hard to find during its initial release, but since Pokemon Day, it has been one of the easier amiibo to receive.
  • In general, Australian Nintendo fans are rejoicing for finally being the lucky ones for once. Having some of the best amiibo availablity in the world with no store exclusives (apart from Gold and Silver Mario) has been an unexpected bright moment for a country that's been on the absolute worst end of No Export for You for decades.
  • A Kirby amiibo series (Kirby, King Dedede, and Meta Knight), with Waddle Dee in tow, for the freshly announced Kirby: Planet Robobot. Although Dedede has received mixed reactions, the other three amiibo have been well praised.
  • So Nintendo are releasing recolours of the Splatoon Amiibos ... that's pretty cool ... but wait! There's More!? They are also releasing amiibos of The Squid Sisters as well!? And they will be released on their own and in a Two Pack as well!? The amiibo hype is definitely real.
    • This has increased speculation on if the Smash amiibo series would receive recolors or alts (especially for those like Classic Wario, Female Robin, Male Wii Fit Trainer, Alph, and the Koopalings). There is hope.
  • Although they are only in Japan right now, the amiibo dioramas have been well received. They look very stylish and are well structured. Currently, there are dioramas of Smash, Kirby, Animal Crossing (as a bonus for purchasing amiibo Festival), and two of Splatoon.
  • Expecting an original amiibo? TOO BAD! WALUIGI TIME!
    • In other news, Nintendo finally acknowledges Orange Pea- I mean, Daisy. Donkey Kong, Rosalina, and Wario have had their amiibo stands shown in Mario Party 10, but many fans are happy that these characters have amiibo now, especially with Rosalina. Boo having an amiibo (one that can glow in the dark, no less) has made fans hyped as well.
  • The announcement that Animal Crossing: New Leaf will receive amiibo functionality three years after its initial release, supporting popular figurines such as Callie and Marie. This has led many fans to believe that other games that came out before the launch of amiibo (e.g., Super Mario 3D World) may soon receive a similar treatment.
    • Also for Welcome amiibo, in Japan, the Monster Hunter amiibo can be used to turn Wisp into a Felyne as a cute little crossover. By all accounts, this functionality was not dummied out of the international localizationnote , so importers of MH figures are able to partake of it just fine.
  • In commemoration of the second anniversary of Bayonetta 2, the Bayonetta amiibo has been partially revealed!
  • Following the restocks of October 2015, another mass restock of various amiibo, consisting of Gold Mario, Mega Man, Sonic, Samus, Pit, Dark Pit, Ness, and Lucina released on October 14 2016. What's more is that Lucina herself is an exclusive to Best Buy (something that would've severely upsetted the amiibo community in 2015), meaning that with the situation, there will be a bigger window for people who wanted her.
    • Palutena and Robin have followed suit with their exclusive restocks to Toys R Us and Gamestop respectively, both with abundant stock and accompanied by the other restock amiibo.
    • It should be also noted that due to amiibo stock improving even more in 2016, the restocks so far seem to be lasting longer than the ones from the previous restock.
  • A Zelda line based on 8-Bit, Ocarina, and Wind Waker Link (and Toon Zelda) was released in December to not only great acclaim, but also to strong sales.
  • With the announcement of Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia come two figures of that game's protagonists, Alm and Celica. Not only are they some of the best looking figures yet, they also open up an opportunity for more figures based off of Fire Emblem besides the characters already playable in Smash to be made.
  • In a Nintendo Direct on April 13, 2017, The Final Three were FINALLY revealed—and each one with an alternate "Player 2" design as well! That's right, you can get male or female Corrin, Final Fantasy VII or Advent Children Cloud, and Bayonetta or Bayonetta 2 Bayonetta!
  • What could be better than getting 2 new Metroid games announced in one day? How about a new Samus amiibo and a Metroid amiibo? The Metroid amiibo is even squishy!
    • I suppose Chrom will get his amiibo...another day... But perhaps, that day is today!
  • The announcement of Pearl and Marina amiibo was met with open arms and much excitement.
  • Praise the Sun! Solaire of Astora from Dark Souls is getting his own amiibo for the Switch version. Allowing you to raise your arms in praise without having to work for it.
  • A new Smash means new amiibo. With Smash versions of Inkling and Daisy, and for the first time a Ridley amiibo!
    • Veteran fighters who weren't in Smash 4 will also get amiibo as well. That includes Ice Climbers and Pichu, and we will likely get amiibo for Snake, Wolf, Pokémon Trainer (INCLUDING Squirtle, Ivysaur, and HIMSELF) and Smash version of Young Link!
    • After the August 8, 2018 Smash Direct, BAM! New amiibo confirmed for Simon Belmont, Richter Belmont, Smash version of Chrom, Dark Samus and King K. Rool!
    • With the November 1st, 2018 Direct, we have confirmation of Ice Climbers, Pichu, and Young Link, as well as new characters Ken, Incineroar, and the unexpected Piranha Plant.
    • This also guarantees Joker, The Hero and Banjo-Kazooie amiibo figures as well. Don't forget Terry Bogard too. Sure enough, on June 29th, 2020 Smash ARMS Reveal, Joker and Hero amiibo were announced.
    • In the Final Mr. Sakurai Presnts video on October 5th 2021, the Steve amiibo was revealed (it's VERY much Steve) as well as the Alex amiibo (this is VERY Alex). The amiibo of Sephiroth, Pyra, Mythra, and Kazuya were confirmed to be in production.
  • Splatoon fans cheered with the announcement of three Octoling amiibo.
  • A big surprise for fans of Diablo as the Loot Goblin is getting its own amiibo.
  • Along with the Link's Awakening remake, there will be a cute little Link amiibo modeled after the game's artstyle.
  • For a while, it seemed that amiibo were starting to die out outside of Super Smash Bros....until the Super Mario 35th anniversary, where it was revealed that adorable amiibo of Cat Mario and Cat Peach would be released!!
  • Alongside the announcement of Metroid Dread at the E3 2021 Nintendo Direct, Nintendo also revealed an amiibo of Samus (in her new suit) and an E.M.M.I.
  • To tie in with the release of Kirby and the Forgotten Land, various Kirby amiibo were reprinted. While Meta Knight and Kirby had their easier-to-find (at the time) Kirby series variants, King Dedede's reprint was his ultra rare Smash Bros variant. For many people who either had horrible luck finding him the first time or people who joined the amiibo collection game long after, this came as a pleasant surprise, considering that many fans consider his Smash variant superior to his Kirby series variant.
  • The Xenoblade Chronicles series is set to get is own amiibo outside of Smash, with Noah and Mio from Xenoblade Chronicles 3 being announced to get their own figures.
  • After much waiting, Deep Cut has finally gotten their own amiibo announced.
