Alternative Character Interpretation / The Fairly OddParents!

• Vicky: A complete psychopath who tortures kids For the Evulz, or is it possible that she has a Freudian Excuse for her actions and had a Dark and Troubled Past which made her the way she is now? The episode "Snow Bound" suggests that she had a rough childhood^note Possibly retconned as of "Channel Chasers", where, judging by her baby pictures, she's always been evil, and, starting with that movie, she's consistently portrayed as wanting to Take Over the World.. Complicated by the fact that she has also been portrayed as a nice girl sealing in an evil bug from getting into a position where it can do too much damage.
• Trixie Tang: In her debut "A Wish Too Far", Trixie runs back to Timmy after everyone else walks offscreen. She tells him that she think it's cool that he stood up for his friends and gives him a kiss on the cheek, before leaving him to go to a party. A few episodes later in "The Boy Who Would Be Queen", we find out that Trixie secretly loves boy-oriented things and her Alpha Bitch behavior is an attempt to hide this. Does she have genuine feelings for Timmy but acts like a jerk and represses her love for him because she wants to remain popular? Also, is it possible that she's actually a Lonely Rich Kid and a Stepford Smiler? Granted, all of this was before she was firmly flanderized into a full-time Alpha Bitch.
• Why is Veronica so obsessed with wanting to be Trixie? Is it envy? Or some warped and twisted manifestation of an attraction to her?
• Timmy's Jerkass behavior from Season 5 onwards may have stemmed from the episode "It's a Wishful Life", where he finds out that the world would be better without him. He must have felt hurt and humiliated, so he became more cynical and jerkish towards his godparents and friends because he stopped caring about the consequences of his actions. After all, it's not like the world treated him very nicely.
  • This image◊ provides a very worrying interpretation of Timmy, that he essentially ran away from his original life and family to start a second one with his Fairy Godparents and that he risks becoming more and more detached and antisocial. Notably, the live action movies and "Timmy's Secret Wish" support this, during which Timmy either refuses to grow up or wishes that everyone would stop aging all to avoid losing Cosmo and Wanda. Another image◊ using Continuity Porn and Fridge Horror outright suggests that Timmy is a diabolical mastermind with a god complex who is very, very good at what he does.
    • Slightly lessened with the introduction of Chloe Carmichael, meaning Timmy has one good friend to fall back on after he loses his fairies.
• Cosmo: Read the Fridge Horror entry about the possibility that he is maybe pretending to be stupid and that all the disasters he made were not an accident. There's a Nicktoons Network commercial that actually brings this theory up.
• Wanda: A Deadpan Snarker who is the only sane fairy, or a psychopath who punishes Cosmo and Timmy for making one slight mistake? "Bad Heir Day" gives an example for the latter.
  • There's also an even worse possibility: That both interpretations are correct. First, Wanda started out as a reasonable Deadpan Snarker and Only Sane Man, but as the series went on and on (over the course of over fifty years, which is something even she didn’t know at the time), the weird and horrible crap that she, Cosmo and Timmy went through over the years started to slowly drive her insane. It would certainly explain her increasingly bonkers characterization over the years. It would also make her story somewhat tragic, because it would make the entire show a story about a perfectly sane (if somewhat strict) pink-haired woman and her loony green-haired husband who slowly starts to lose her sanity as all the strange adventures and horrible things she had to see during her tenure as Timmy’s fairy godparent starts to take a toll on her mind.
• Some fanfics give us the idea that Anti-Cosmo wanted Timmy as his anti-godchild because he actually cared about him and thought that Cosmo and Wanda weren't doing a well enough job caring for him. He's kind of right.
