* RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap: Heavens yes. It starts with Canon!Joffrey, and repeated deaths and pain shatter him and his delusions of any notion of innate power he may wield. At his emotional nadir, he reaches out to anyone who can possibly help him rather than outright ordering them to, and after a pep talk with Ned Stark, he gradually begins to turn inwards and discover who he really is and what is it that he can do, starting him on the road for the truth.

* ArcFatigue: Quite a few fans wished that the Yi-Ti Arc was over and done with. It is currently the longest of Joffrey's loop and though it showcased Joffrey's evolution to a GeneralBadAss and an epic LastStand, a lot of readers wanted him to be back in Westeros already.

** The White Walkers and [[spoiler: the ability to harm the purple]] are frighteningly unnerving.
** Despite appearing in person only once, Euron Greyjoy easily qualifies as this and as TheDreaded- during what would become the Yi-Ti loop, a Warlock in the House of the Undying scrying through Joffrey's timeline, and is DrivenToSuicide simply for having a ''vision'' of Euron's ship.

* DespairEventHorizon: Joffrey had this when he realised that there was no end to the 'purple'. He eventually recovered but not before suffering a severe BSOD that lasted countless loops.
** In the Red Wolf loop, the Lannisters suffered this when Robb, now TheUnfettered, destroyed the entire Lannister forces culminating with the destruction of King's Landing and Joffrey's well deserved ColdBloodedTorture at Robb's hands.

** In the chapter 31, Sansa, after hearing that her father and brother had been killed, tries to seduce Joffrey. The latter could only describe with horror at Sansa's attempts (describing her smile, at one point, as horrifyingly terrified) Made even worse when Sansa tries to placate Joffrey by saying that ''Arya'' would help in bedroom.
* TearJerker:
** Joffrey doesn't understand why it hurt so much when Sandor Clegane addressed him as "Your Grace" for the first time after the Skirmish at the Riverlands, following his brutal slapdown of rebel Riverlands forces (which he genuinely wanted to avert). The rest of the loop doesn't get any better. First he successfully catches up to the Northern forces; unlike the Red Wolf loop, he crushes all opposition, including Jon Snow and Robb Stark, who he still thinks of as friends. He receives nasty wounds, which begin festering. Then he receives news of Tyrion's death (it's implied that Baelish killed him for getting too close to his operations, and so he could rise to Hand of the King). Small wonder he falls into incoherent sorrow for the few remaining days of the loop.
** Basically anytime Joffrey forges a bond, whether it be Ned or Dawn Army or even the Broken Knights, they are all reset as soon as he dies and the loop begins anew. Joffrey acknowledges that each time he befriends them again, it will not be the same.
** The deaths of Jon Snow and Sandor at the Citadel during the Broken Knights arc. It took all Joffrey's willpower not to end his life via suicide-by-cop. It was only when he realize if he does take that path, Tyrion would be killed, that he stopped.
** Sansa's reaction to Ned's brutal death by torture in the Red Wolf loop. His death in that arc was so brutal that even Cersei was horrified.
** The last three chapters of the Yi-Ti Arc.

* NightmareFuel:
** For all the story contains GallowsHumor, it does have its moments:
*** In the earlier loop, prior to his CharacterDevelopment, Joffrey realizes, to his glee, that he was practically immortal. He takes that moment to relish the punishment he would mete onto his enemies and the reader could only read in horror to what this means.
*** Ned's torture at Joffrey's hands. It ended with Ned's [[DesecratingTheDead corpse being dismembered, his skin torn to pieces and face frozen in pain.]] It was so bad, that when his body was displayed in the Sept of Baelor, everyone went silent in horror, [[EvenEvilHasStandards even Cersei.]] It makes what comes next almost cathartic. As his allies are taken down one by one, Joffrey comes to the realization that he might have gone a step too far. It ends with him being sold out by his own guards, then beaten, slowly, by a vengeful Robb.
*** Whatever the Warlock saw in the bone tablet reduced the man into a blubbering, pissing mess; it was so horrifying, he could only beg for Joffrey's forgiveness before stabbing himself to death.
*** In in Yi-Ti Arc, Joffrey and the Dawn Legion encounters a seemingly deserted village and is immediately suspicious. They are then ambushed by shadow wielding cultists, who with a simple touch, melt your eyes and internal organs into goo. They then proceeded to take down the legion until there were only a few men standing. The worst part? They were ''wannabes'', not even strong enough to join the ''actual'' Cultists. And when Joffrey does encounter the actual members, they made the wannabes ''and'' the Warlocks of Qarth look like street magicians.
*** In the same arc, the moment when he realizes the wights the army's fighting carry Westerosi banners, meaning that by then, the continent has likely already fallen.
*** The end of the Yi-Ti Arc. A very detailed description of what happens when [[ZombieApocalypse The White Walkers take over the world.]] He had to watch his subordinates die one by one due to lack of supplies. Despite being the beacon of hope to the (probably) last group of living humans on Planetos, he had thoughts of just killing himself to restart the loop. Instead, he soldiers on and leads them to one LastStand. He then watches his remaining friends die and was about to be turned into a White Walker himself, if not for the bomb he managed to set off at the last minute. If not for that last action, Joffrey theorizes that the loop would have ended, permanently. The horror and despair was such that he suffered a horrific PTSD in the next loop.
*** The Skirmish at the Riverlands; WarIsHell indeed. Made worse when Joffrey states that it could have been avoided if certain lords did not choose RevengeBeforeReason.
*** What happened to [[spoiler:Nalia after Joffrey discovers that she had been spying on him for Baelish all that time. At least Baelish had a quick death via a fall. Nalia had no such luck.]]
