* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot:
** At the end of "It's Almost Over," Walter becomes Natalie's Lovebug, something that interested many fans who wanted to see the family's plot continue, as well as give Natalie more screentime and explore what love is like for a young trans teen. Unfortunately, Natalie and her family are absent from season two, and Walter has subplots with totally new clients.
** In "A League of Their Hormone", Connie sabotages Montel just to win a softball game and at the end, Montel doesn't hold it against her, which may have actually been an interesting story arc for Montel and Connie to be shown throughout the second season in order to add some flavor to the rather dull-as-dishwater plotline of Maury and Connie struggling to accept Montel as a Shame Wizard..

* JerksAreWorseThanVillains: General Malice from the second season is beloved by the fandom for her lizard-appearance and being a passable example of EvilIsCool. Dante the Addiction Angel is hated by the fandom for his {{jerkass}} tendencies, alongside being a toxic boyfriend for Emmy and Rochelle as well as planting a seed of chaos that causes a rift of their friendship.

* SoOkayItsAverage: The main opinion of the show is that while nowhere near as popular as "Big Mouth", it is a generally passable series at best.

* SpotlightStealingSquad: Dante is more-or-less shoehorned into a majority of the plots that could have been filled with any other creature.

* CatharsisFactor: In the first episode of Season 2, when [[Jerkass Dante]] finally pushes [[DoggedNiceGuy Pete]] too far by shoving Rochelle, the Logic Rock snaps and uppercuts the Addiction Angel into the air. It’s quite a satisfying moment for anyone sick of Dante’s toxic behaviour.

** The entire sequence at the end of "It's Almost Over" is devastating, one of the saddest, sweetest episodes in the entire canon. But during the montage of all of Yara's family coming to say goodbye is a heartbroken Nadja sobbing by her bedside... with a white woman with dreadlocks standing pensively at the door. Earlier in the season Petra consoled Rochelle by describing Nadja's next girlfriend as a white woman with dreadlocks, to which Rochelle said, 'Please, anything but that.'

** The Hate Division squashes a cold epidemic by killing the infected. Specifically, they have a giant masked goon named Anthony Piñata squeeze the infected until their eyes bug out and head explodes. When Anthony himself gets infected, he squeezes his own head in horror... and unlike the gremlin he killed, his blood is ''not'' colored AlienBlood, but real red blood.

* FanPreferredCouple: It's almost unanimous that fans want to see Emmy get together with Cat Stevens due to their quick but sweet friendship, the undeniable chemistry they shared and the fact that Cat was nothing but kind to Emmy, as well as the fact that Emmy herself grew to like Cat before she was interrupted by Dante.
** General consensus among fans is that Rochelle and Dante should break up in season two to make way for fan preferred couple Rochelle and Pete.

* InformedWrongness: After Rochelle, Emmy's best friend, sleeps with her on-and-off friend with benefits Dante the Addiction Angel and even starts a relationship with him, Emmy does have a right to be angry since she had feelings for him that Rochelle knew about. However, Emmy is consistently regarded as a jealous brat even though she is a genuine victim of Dante's given how he used her low self-esteem to satisfy his own desires while bleeding her dry when she's clearly emotionally vulnerable. To make matters worse, she gets little to no support from anyone genuinely helpful save for The Shame Wizard, who helps her for the sake of indulging in her shame and putting her down even more, and the show seems to act as if Emmy deserves the mistreatment and harsh criticisms. Then Rochelle never receives any other backlash from anybody for her actions and her reputation even gets better while Emmy's gets worse.

* CrossesTheLineTwice: "Rutgers is for Lovers" has Emmy casually mention having gotten three abortions, and confuse Pete's "Inbox Zero" organization method with the name of her abortion clinic. Because Emmy is so shameless, the exchange leads to further plays on the name of the clinic (such as Pete remarking "A clean box is a happy box" and realizing they probably say the same thing at her clinic) and ends with Emmy preparing to vent about her abortions to Pete because her therapist "ghosted" her.

* TearJerker:
** In "International Creature Convention", Emmy ends up turning into a Hateworm for the first time after Rochelle betrays their friendship by sleeping with her crush and starting a relationship with him, and even wins the Dolly Parton award despite her crimes.
** The end of "The Light" where Sonya continues to watch Claudia from afar after deciding that they cannot continue their romance. It's seems that Claudia can no longer see Sonya, but can still sense her.
** "It's Almost Over": The A plot of the episode focuses on Yara slowly dying and the effect it has on her son Amir and her love bug Walter. In her final hours, Yara's children and grandchildren arrive to tearfully say goodbye to her. After her passing, Yara's ghost asks Walter to watch after her granddaughter, to whom he has apparently been reassigned.
*** In the same episode as part of the B Plot, poor Emmy has nothing but the most miserable time. After returning to work after humiliating herself at the International Creature Convention, her coworkers gleefully remind her of that incident and insult her, with even Maury and Connie in particular acting uncharacteristically mocking. To make matters even worse, they celebrate Rochelle and Dante's relationship in front of Emmy, and then Dante decides to brag about his love for Rochelle, again in front of Emmy. Things only get worse when Emmy attempts to apologize to Rochelle and Rochelle repays her by being condescending and accusing Emmy of acting like a victim despite having every right to be upset about her best friend sleeping with the guy she was in love with behind her back. Even when Lionel mentions that Rochelle isn't as great as she sees, he still criticizes Emmy for how she behaved even when Emmy's reasons were justified. For all Emmy's flaws, she didn't deserve any of that crap and absolutely nobody (except for probably Pete) gave her any sympathy whatsoever.
** After a season exploring their tumultuous but passionate relationship, Maury breaks up with Connie in the season finale because she doesn't want to raise a child with him. They both end up in tears as Maury walks away.

* EnsembleDarkhorse: Cat Stevens, one of the few Depression Kitties shown in both this series and Big Mouth, is beloved for ''genuinely'' caring about his clients' wellbeing unlike Kitty and being one of the nicest monsters, and playing a key role in helping Emmy grow fond of Barry and understand why he and Becca love each other, ultimately succeeding in saving their marriage.
