Led by its CEO and aspiring dictator of Pandora, Handsome Jack (who stole the credit for opening the Vault and defeating the Destroyer), Hyperion's robotic armies have crushed nearly all resistance to Jack's totalitarian goal of "bringing order" to the planet.
