adding new tropes

* AdultFear: Heather's parents seem to think they've lost her to some kind of brainwashing. It gets even worse seconds later when they realize she's not only turned against them, but is actively trying to convert them as well. Needless to say, both of those options would have been better than what ends up happening.

It gets even worse seconds later when they realize she's not only turned against them, them but is actively trying to convert them as well. Needless to say, both of those options would have been better than what ends up happening.

* BothSidesHaveAPoint: While both Nancy and Jonathan are being shortsighted with regards to the other's perspective in their argument, both have valid points. Jonathan accurately calls Nancy out on not understanding that the firing is a bigger blow to him because he doesn't come from a rich family like she does and needed the money more. Nancy makes the equally accurate point that her treatment at the paper was humiliating and burdensome in ways that his wasn't due to the newsroom's sexist atmosphere and his dismissals of her feelings about it are not that different from the staff's attitude.

* ComeOutComeOutWhereverYouAre: Bruce, who is pursuing Nancy at the hospital, calls out for her this way.

* DeathCourse: Discussed. Erica asks if there are {{booby trap}}s, [[LaserHallway lasers]] or [[SpikesOfDoom spikes]] to be expected on her way across the AirVentPassageway.
* EpilepticFlashingLights: The light starts flickering menacingly when Billy gets trapped in the sauna.

* TheNoisyStraw: When making demands for her "contribution", Erica is slurping her milkshake with much noise just to make a point.

* PleasePutSomeClothesOn: When Hopper gets up, naked, and Joyce is looking away pointing to the spot where his clothes are drying.

* SearchingTheStalls: Bruce searching Nancy in an operation room, going from section to section.

* SoundtrackDissonance: Vera Lynn's "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHcunREYzNY We'll Meet Again]]" plays over the creepy last pan shot across the crowd of altered people of Hawkins.

* ThwartedCoupDeGrace: At the hospital, when Bruce is about to finish off Jonathan with a chair, Nancy stabs him in the back with a pair of scissors.

* ZergRush: Seems to be part of the Mind Flayer's plan. It knows that Eleven can stop it with her powers, so it's creating a small army of altered people, more than she could possibly hope to defeat.

* InnocentlyInsensitive: Nancy towards Jonathan. After getting them both fired, she tries to brush off losing their jobs like it's no big deal, but Jonathan reminds her that, unlike her, he actually needed that job because he doesn't have a father who makes six figures a year. [[BothSidesHaveAPoint On the other hand though]], Jonathan ''is'' being dismissive of the unfair and horribly misogynistic treatment Nancy was repeatedly subjected to.
