* JerkassHasAPoint: Tom is fully complicit in the misogynistic bullying Nancy endures (and is also possessed by the Mind Flayer at this point,) but he is completely justified in firing Nancy and Jonathan for exposing the paper to a lawsuit for breaking and entering and falsely identifying themselves as reporters.
** Erica might act mean to Dustin, Steve and Robin, but she ''really'' has a valid point that they are endangering her, as the Russians might have equipment to harm them several times over, not mentioning the booby traps that might get activated in the room. And of course, she is proven right (in a way she didn't expect though), as the room is actually an elevator.

Seeing just words isn't getting anywhere, he opts to just interrogate him violently and nearly cut off a finger, and ''that'' gets him the info he wants.

Later, when asked if there are any booby traps in the warehouse entrance, she snarks that they'd be pretty terrible traps if she could see them.

* DutchAngle: The scene when Tom confronts and fires Nancy and Jonathan is shot this way, to emphasize the sense of wrongness that Tom emanates after having been infected by the Mind Flayer.
