* One of the most famous examples, especially among older anime fans, is Ranma's ''Hiryuu Shoten Ha'' (Heaven's Dragon Blast) from ''Anime/RanmaOneHalf'', which consists of, basically, keeping oneself very cool while goading a very hot-running opponent into a spiral, then delivering a spinning uppercut at the nexus, creating a temperature difference between the two {{Battle Aura}}s that explodes into a localized tornado.

* One of the most famous examples, especially among older anime fans, is Ranma's ''Hiryuu Shoten Ha'' (Heaven's Dragon Blast) from ''Anime/RanmaOneHalf''.

* Aero in ''Franchise/FinalFantasy'' is usually a tornado. ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyTacticsA2'' adds the Illusionist spell Tornado. There's also Weak/Cyclonic/Tornado, which are typically used by enemies and removes a ''massive'' [[PercentDamageAttack percentage of your health]].

** ''[[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin Tornado Man]]'' from ''VideoGame/MegaMan9'' launches miniature tornadoes upward from the floor, which also boosts the player's jump height due to the updrafts.

{{Tornado}}s are frightening natural phenomena, and characters may use them in combat, possibly [[SpinToDeflectStuff deflecting missiles]] or containing explosions. The fighter usually creates them by moving in circles (or [[EverythingsBetterWithSpinning spinning]]) with SuperSpeed or [[BlowYouAway air-controlling powers]].

* One of the enemy types of ''VideoGame/{{Miitopia}}'' ''are'' tornadoes. One of them has a moche which created anoth tornado that blows one of the Miis away.

* Espio in ''VideoGame/KnucklesChaotix'' and ''VideoGame/SonicHeroes''.

* The Cyclone spell in ''{{TalesSeries}}'' is ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin. It also has a variation called Tempest that combines it with ShockAndAwe.

** Tails, a flight character, can also do this in some games. Specifically, in SonicAdvance 3 this is his attack when paired with Knuckles, and in [[SegaSuperstars Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing]], this is his special move. It probably has something to do with [[HeliCritter how he flies]].

* Ōtengu in ''Onmyōji'' whose skills include casting a huge tornado that deals impressive damage to all members on the opposite team.

* In ''Franchise/{{Kirby}}'', Tornado is a Copy Ability which Kirby would crush his foes while receiving brief invincibility while spinning.

* [[AllLovingHero Aang]] sometimes does this in ''WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender'', using it to directly assault opponents, levitate himself or shoot rocks as if from a cannon. Korra is also seen doing this. In Book 4, Jinora leads a group of airbenders to form a giant tornado.
