Back in the good ole' days of troping there were four 'playing with a trope' tropes
Played straight - An example of this trope, or at least I think it is? Hard to tell with some of the obscure trope names. Close enough anyway.
Subversion - It's this trope, but not! That's a subversion, or mostly subverted, kind of subverted? I'll put that as well.
Justified - I like this show, therefore, it's justified damnit.
Lampshaded - That's where they talk about the trope, right?
