justifying edit.

** Justified in that it's almost always used on ships built by and for the same stargoing civilization, who would want a standardized sound for "the shit just got real, get your ass where it's supposed to be" across all their ships, stations and installations, and probably bled from there to civilian-sector ships built by that same civilization.

** The lion actually had two distinct roars: a ferocious one from the classic days and a digitally-recorded roar that's used to this day. The former was also heard in several MGM cartoons (including ''Lonesome Lenny'' and ''WesternAnimation/KingSizeCanary''), while the latter was used for a demon in ''{{Film/Poltergeist}}'' (which, coincidentally, was the first MGM film to use it on the logo) and on ''WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons'' episode "Homer Alone" (when a stressed-out Marge roars at a driver after stopping her car on the bridge).

* Most police and fire department vehicles, including ambulances will be given an electronic siren sound, either wail, or yelp, even if the vehicle is shown with an electromechanical siren. Sometimes it's the reverse, where the emergency vehicle will make the distinctive "Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" sound of a mechanical siren, when the vehicle clearly has an electronic siren speaker mounted. Many large fire trucks in real life use a very distinctive sounding mechanical siren made by the Federal Sign and Signal Company, model Q2B. This siren has heavy power needs, so it usually is only used on large trucks. In films and TV you will often hear this sound made by police or ambulances which were unlikely to have such a large siren.
