* One short WebVideo/KurtisConner video has a kid named Evan thank his dad for giving him a normal name instead of something like "Stormy." However, the dad knows "Evan" is short for "Evanescence."

** Parodied in "Hit the Diamond", when Steven gives the Crystal Gems "human" names to keep the Ruby Squadron from knowing they're the fugitives they're looking for. While Amethyst and Sapphire are called "Amy" and "Sophie", Pearl is called "Earl" and Lapis is called "[[TheLastOfTheseIsNotLikeTheOthers Bob]]".

* In ''WesternAnimation/TurningRed'', Meilin Lee goes by "Mei", which sounds like the Anglophone name 'May'.
