''Event Horizon'' starred Creator/SamNeill, who appears in this film and in ''Film/ThorRagnarok'' as the Asgardian actor who portrays Odin; Creator/LaurenceFishburne, who played Bill Foster in ''Film/AntManAndTheWasp''; and Creator/KathleenQuinlan, who appeared in ''Series/{{Runaways}}''. * SeriesContinuityError: Hela's helmet and the weapons it conjures were referred to as the Necrosword in the artbook for ''Film/ThorRagnarok'' and ''[[WesternAnimation/WhatIf2021 What If...?]]'', but its relation to Gorr's Necrosword -- if any -- is never addressed or even alluded to.

* MetaTwist: Previous entries have had a consistent ChangingOfTheGuard as far back as ''Film/AntMan'', as new heroes took up the mantle of older heroes. [[spoiler:Not only does Jane not replace Thor as the God of Thunder, she actually dies. Thor does give Love Stormbreaker, but that is simply an extension of Thor's CharacterDevelopment that he is not intrinsically tied to his weapons.]]

** Both films have a campy sense of humor and presentation, but come from completely opposite ends. ''Multiverse of Madness''[='=]s humor is mostly BlackComedy mixed with likely deliberate NarmCharm horror elements from director Creator/SamRaimi, while this movie’s comedy is a lighthearted [[RomanticComedy rom-com]] style of humor.

* CrossoverCosmology: The movie introduces many deities from different mythologies and folklores [[spoiler:who even are shown to hang out with each other in Omnipotence City]]. * TwilightOfTheGods: Thor's people have already been through one, and they're at risk of going through ''another'' event, but along with other pantheons of gods at the hands of Gorr, which Thor has to prevent.

* GenderFlip: [[spoiler:In the comics, Gorr had a son named Agar who died from thirst and hunger during a drought, contributing to Gorr's despair and hatred of the gods. In ''Love and Thunder'', he instead had a daughter (known to the people she saves as Love), whose death occurs in the same manner.]]
