!Tropes for the film:
* ArtisticLicenseSports: Prof. Brainard comes up with an ingenious way to help the local high school football team win: he'll fill up a player's uniform with his new discovery, "flubber gas", to make him light and buoyant. The other players, instead of passing just the ball, will throw ''him with the ball'', so even if he is tackled, the team will retain possession of the ball. The only problem with such a ploy? It's that Rule 17 section 6 of the official football rulebook, passed in 1910, specifically outlaws players on the offensive team from pushing, pulling, or holding the player carrying the ball. Nobody in the film, including the referees, seem to be aware of this.
* DogFoodDiet: The eponymous professor is reduced to poverty and considers a can of dog food until his dog whines piteously and receives the food instead.
* RubberyWorld: The movie envisions the benefits of the super-stringy invention in a promotional film showing eggs, babies, etc. harmlessly bouncing on a flubberized floor.
* {{Tagline}}: "The Professor's "Off" and Flying... and FUN SCORES A NEW HIGH!".
