* BroadStrokes: The movie seems to have this relationship with ''Film/XMenOriginsWolverine'' and the Fox ''X-Men'' Film Universe in general. In regards to ''Origins'' it clearly takes place in a separate continuity, but there are enough parallels between the two of them that it can be assumed that at least some of the events of ''X-Men Origins'' happened in Deadpool's past. Deadpool is still played by Creator/RyanReynolds, the X-Men exist in this universe, he has definitely met Wolverine at least once (and recognizes him as Creator/HughJackman), the X-Men mansion looks the same as in the films, and he wonders if he'll see the [[Creator/JamesMcAvoy McAvoy]] or [[Creator/PatrickStewart Stewart]] Professor X and comments on the different timelines being confusing. Ajax's organization is also never explicitly called "Weapon X" in the movie, so nothing contradicts previous continuity outright. But Colossus is completely different from the Daniel Cudmore version, being larger, always in armored form, speaking in a Russian accent, and having a different design. (Though this is not officially confirmed by[[Invoked]] WordOfGod, there is nothing in either this film or its sequel stopping the audience from interpreting this as the events of ''Film/XMenDaysOfFuturePast'' altering the series' timeline.)

** During the opening fight scene, one of the mooks shoots Deadpool in the ass -- literally up his ass. LampShaded in the voice-over/fourth wall break.

* ARoundOfDrinksForTheHouse: Wade does this after successfully tricking one patron into fighting another. As the bar cheers, Weasel hurriedly declares they're only getting the domestic booze and not the imported stuff.

* UglySpouseSentence: [[DiscussedTrope Discussed]]; after becoming a mutant, Wade Wilson is left with noticeable deformities, and becomes worried that his girlfriend Vanessa won't like him anymore. [[spoiler:Ultimately subverted when Vanessa decides not to worry about it too much by the end.]]

* LodgedBladeRemoval: Deadpool impales Francis through the leg with his katana, which goes all the way through his leg and into the concrete lane divider of the highway. Francis can't pull the sword out because it's wedged too deeply into the concrete, so he breaks off the hilt. This lets him pull his leg off of the sword, instead of pulling the sword out of his leg.

* CatchPhrase:
** Deadpool likes using the phrase "Maximum effort!"
** Ajax likes regularly asking Wade, "What's my name?"

* BottomlessMagazines: {{Inverted}}; during the famous highway shootout, Wade is left with only 12 bullets between his two [[HandCannon desert eagles]]. Should they have been fully loaded, he'd have 16 rounds altogether.

* HandCannon: Deadpool carries a pair of 'em -- Desert Eagles, to be precise -- chambered in .50 caliber Action Express.

* BaitAndSwitchComment: When Deadpool first learns Ellie's codename, Negasonic Teenage Warhead, at first it seems he's going to mock it... but then it turns out he ''loves'' it.

** The CreditsGag opens with "Starring God's perfect idiot," and ends with "and directed by an overpaid tool".
** When Blind Al tries to convince Wade that looks aren't everything, he comes back with, "Do you think Creator/RyanReynolds got this far on a superior acting technique?"

* SomethingWeForgot: Right before the final confrontation, Deadpool, Colossus, and Negasonic Teenage Warhead do a PowerWalk towards Ajax's heavily-guarded base, preparing to kick ass... and then Deadpool realizes he left his duffel bag full of all the guns in Dopinder's taxi.

** While the trio are doing their PowerWalk to the sound of Music/{{DMX}}'s "X Gon Give It to Ya", the camera pans to [[ChromeChampion Colossus]] just as DMX mentions "stainless steel."

* HairFlip: Deadpool pretends to do a hair flip while mocking Negasonic Teenage Warhead’s disaffected attitude. (Ironically, [=NTW’s=] actual [[BoyishShortHair haircut]] is too short for her to do this.)
