** The Collector called [[spoiler: Kimiko]] "firecracker" back when they were friends in the latter's childhood, and in the present refers to [[spoiler: Raven]] as "pretty bird".

* AncientTradition: Well, not quite "ancient", but from the end of World War II until a few years before the story's present when it fell out of their possession, [[spoiler: Kimiko]]'s family was tasked with safeguarding the mirror that the Collector was sealed in.

** On the one hand, there's the Chaotic Masters, who are trying to break free and resume rampaging for fun. On the other, there's [[spoiler:Tirek the Devourer]], who engineers their escapes so that he can use the situation to further his own agenda of [[spoiler: corrupting Raven into freeing their father]].

* TheCorrupter: The Chaotic Masters are clearly quite skilled at getting into people's heads and getting them to switch sides, as evidenced by all the princesses they managed to seduce back in the day. [[spoiler: And now the Collector is doing the same with Raven, playing on her desperation to escape her destiny by offering to help her control her powers to such the point that Trigon can't use her.]]

* JourneyToTheCenterOfTheMind: [[spoiler: The Collector talks Raven into letting him into her MentalWorld so that he can help her merge with her emoticlones, as a means of controlling her powers to the extent that Trigon can't use her.]]

** [[spoiler: Tirek]] mocks the Dazzlings by suggesting that the Chaotic Masters don't actually care about them and will replace them once they're freed, for no other reason than he knows that it'll get under their skin.

* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: The reason Roulette arranges the auction for Circe is because the latter is eager to unload all the artifacts in her possession that once belonged to the Chaotic Masters so that she can go into hiding (possibly in AnotherDimension) before they come looking for them. Vanessa Barone likewise gets in on things to get rid of the gem she stole from [[spoiler: Tirek]] and find a place to hide before he can come after her for it.

* SkewedPriorities: Instead of immediately fleeing the auction with their pilfered artifacts, even with Section 13 showing up to raid the place, Adagio insists on staying to jealously confront [[spoiler: Raven]] about the Collector showing an interest in her.
* SplitPersonalityMerge: [[spoiler: The purpose of the JourneyToTheCenterOfTheMind that the Collector takes Raven on is to merge with her emoticlones, so that she can embrace her emotions and fully control her powers to the extent that Tirek can't use them to influence her.]]
* TheStarscream: [[spoiler: Tirek is planning to claim Raven's powers for himself and use them to usurp Trigon.]]

* TemptingFate: At the end of the Titans meeting with the League about the fallout from the auction, Beast Boy states that at least things can't get worse. Cue a news alert about [[spoiler: Madame Mim]] taking hostages to get the Masters' attention.

** [[spoiler: Tirek the Devourer]] and Chrysalis apparently were a couple back in the day, until she dumped him (though he claims he was the one to turn on her).
* TheUnfavourite: [[spoiler: Tirek is incensed at how Trigon views him as just another minion while treating Raven as the key to all his plans. [[MistreatmentInducedBetrayal This resentment is what's fueling his plans to usurp his father.]]]]

** Upon learning that the Collector's mirror has resurfaced, Demona and Macbeth reluctantly agree to team up in order to free him, in exchange for him breaking the bond between the two of them. Later, they recruit [[spoiler: Madame Mim]] to help them as well, since as the Masters' adoptive mother, she'd want him free just for its own sake.

** [[spoiler: The Collector befriended Kimiko when she found his mirror as a young child, being the OnlyFriend she had for most of her childhood. She thus spent years trying to find a way to free him, eventually hitting on the idea to upload him into a virtual reality that her father created, from which he could spread across the internet. However, when this nearly succeeded and caused widespread chaos as a result, Kimiko was horrified, and convinced that the Collector had lied to and used her; in the present, she's still infuriated at even the mention of him.]]

* EatingTheEyeCandy: The Collector really enjoys how much of Raven's body is shown off by her leotard when she's not wearing her cloak.

** While [[spoiler:Madame Mim]] might terrify the Masters a bit, and she has some friction with Adagio, she genuinely cares about them in her own twisted way, along with their brides (despite her friction with Adagio).

** Raven is hinted to have a crush on Beast Boy, judging by comments made by her Happy emoticlone.

** Upon learning that the Collector's mirror has resurfaced, Demona and Macbeth reluctantly agree to team up in order to free him, in exchange for him breaking the bond between the two of them.

** Even the Masters themselves are wary of [[spoiler:Madame Mim]], who was apparently their mother figure.

** [[spoiler:Madame Mim]] turns out to have been the Masters' mother figure.

** Constantine doesn't think too highly of many of the rules surrounding TheMasquerade, but even he admits that letting the general public know that magic exists would cause everyone to want to get ahold of it, risking it falling into dangerous hands.

* GreenEyedMonster: Adagio is furious at the thought that the Collector is showing interest in [[spoiler:Raven]].

* TheAlliance: According to the Collector, he and his brothers-in-arms were only defeated in ancient times by the combined powers of King Arthur and his knights, Merlin, Toshimiru the Mystical Monkey master, Nabu, the remnants of the Order of Guardians, Grand Master Dashi and his students, and a member of the Dragon Council.
