* TheAce: Shining Armor is known as the best player in Codex. Not only was he one of the first players online, he was the first to make it into Rookie, Champion, and Ultimate levels, and upon him first meeting Flash, Micro claims he will be the first Mega Level Player too.

Additionally, Shining Armor lets Flash keep the scans he let him borrow, and Flash makes it his goal to get good enough to face Shining again one day and beat him]].

* DramaticIrony: In "Making Friends and Making Enemies", Flash and Twilight meet both on Earth and the Digital World and have drastically different first impressions. While their Earth versions don't have a great start due to Twilight unknowingly causing Flash a HumiliationConga all day that culminates in the two having an argument during an experiment that gets them both detention, their digital counterparts meet on a Digimon Hunt where they save each other and help each other get the scans they were after. Once their Earth counterparts get their memories of this adventure, [[ActuallyPrettyFunny the two of them laugh together over it]].

* TheLastOfHisKind: Veemon was a species of Digimon that was believed to have been extinct. The one that Flash meets is the first seen in a millennia with Gennai even stating he is the last of his kind. However, Veemon allows Gennai to copy his data and return it to the Digital World, so that future Veemon may eventually be born, possibly also including his prior forms [=DemiVeemon=] and Chibomon.

* HatedByAll: Jet Set becomes this to nearly every player in Codex, with the only noticeable exception of his friend Lightning Dust, after he [[spoiler:tricks Flash into agreeing to an Ante-Battle without explaining to him that he can even take his partner Veemon from him if he loses. Then after he takes Veemon from Flash he imprisons Veemon in his Digivice for days, never letting him out and treating him like a possession]]. His actions result in the Codex Commanders hold a meeting to discuss how his actions have negatively affected all of Codex, and when Flash [[spoiler:comes demanding another Ante-Battle to win Veemon back]], everyone present boos Jet when he initially refuses, calling him a [[DirtyCoward coward]].

** Trixie loses to Sandalwood and begrudgingly admits defeat, while rolling her eyes and vowing to take him down in a rematch.

** "Digital Battle of the Sexes" has Sandalwood and Trixie get into a huge argument after an accident between them that quickly escalates into a battle of the sexes as the two of them settle things in a battle of boy Digimon vs girl Digimon. Nearly every boy and girl gets involved in the argument [[OnlySaneMan except for Mangoramon, Lunamon, Micro, Flash, Twilight, and their Digimon partners]]. In the end [[spoiler:the girl Digimon win, but with the twist that Sandalwood was the one using them while Trixie used the boy Digimon]], shocking the entire crowd except for Mangoramon and Lunamon and rendering the debate pointless.

However, instead of the two of them having LoveAtFirstSight, Twilight rudely walks off from Flash after he returns her glasses without even apologizing for bumping into him, and Flash starts to hate Twilight due to suffering a HumiliationConga because of her the entire school day. They only become friends after they realize how their digital selves got along with each other and helped each other.

* ObviousRulePatch: In Codex, Ante-Battles are a type of battle where the winner gets to take any scan from the loser for keeps. However, this also includes being able to take the loser's partner from them, with the only thing deterring players from doing this a warning that such acts are looked down upon. [[spoiler:After Jet Set takes Veemon from Flash this way, the Codex Commanders have a meeting over this, and determine that once Flash wins Veemon back from Jet they need to update the system to make sure a partner Digimon can never be taken in an Ante-Battle again, stating they never should have allowed it to be possible in the first place.]]

* HateSink: Jet Set and Lightning Dust have done nothing but belittled Flash for being a "newbie" and act very smug toward new players.

** This happens again in the following chapter, "Like it Or Not, The Hunt is On". Flash and Micro visit Datamon at the same time as Rarity, Fluttershy, and Pinkie, and he shows them two new battle gear he is working on. The boys want to scan a canon while the girls want the shield. Datamon sends them out to get some rare special pre so he can finish one of the gear, with the other needing to wait another month. This results in a race between the two groups to get the ore first. Ultimately, the boys save the girls from Landramon and work together to defeat it, and decide to let Datamon decide which gear to finish first. Ultimately though, they find a lot more ore than expected, with Datamon easily able to finish both gears, and the two groups deciding they should work together outside the stadiums from now on.

* FireForgedFriends: While their digital selves got along very well, the real Flash and Twilight didn't get along with each other at first, and only when they received the memories of their digital selves' adventure is when they finally got along and bury the hatchet.
