Added DiffLines:

* {{Cliffhanger}}: ''Digimon Codex'' ends on a cliffhanger, with a Digimon shaped like a T-Rex with several spikes all over its body suddenly merging and running off into the night, with the narration explaining the hole it left behind from the cave it emerged from will bring about a great calamity for the Digital World.

** This is attempted when [[spoiler:Megadramon decides to use the final Dragon Soul Stone himself after [=MagnaAngemon=] is killed, so to keep it out of [=WarGrowlmon's=] hands. He knows it will just mean he'll become Megidramon himself, but says he'll try to hold the evil inside him back long enough for his friends to destroy him, so they'll have more time to prepare for when the stone eventually reappears, thus also making this a SuicideByCop. Fortunately though, this ends up subverted when instead of Digivolving into Megidramon, Megadramon becomes Goldramon instead, after remembering how his friends taught him he decides his own destiny and refusing to let Megidramon's evil overcome him]].

* ThrowingDownTheGauntlet: In Codex it is possible to challenge other players to official matches, or just for fun in the Beta-Stadium.
** At the end of "Lessons Learned the Hard Way" [[spoiler:Flash challenges Jet Set to another Ante-Battle to get Veemon back from him in front of the entire foyer, with Jet accepting once Flash wages ''three'' rare scans in exchange]].
** At the end of "The Great Dragon War's Climax" [[spoiler:Shining Armor challenges Flash to a battle in the Beta-Stadium in one week, having been impressive by Flash and Veemon being the first ones to Digivolve to Mega]].

* YouDontLookLikeYou: An in-universe example that is commented on. When the Royal Knights are first introduced, they explain the story of their founder, Imperialdramon, to Flash, Micro, Sandalwood, Trixie, and their partners. Later, [[spoiler:Flash and Veemon manage to Mega Digivolve into Imperialdramon from Paildramon when fighting Bombardramon. Micro, Trixie, and Sandal are all confused why this Imperialdramon looks nothing like the one they were told about and images they saw, nothing this version is a dragon instead of humanoid and he doesn't even have a sword]]. Of course, this is also a case of DramaticIrony, since none of them know yet that Imperialdramon has multiple forms, and they were told about his Paladin Mode while [[spoiler:the version they saw was his Dragon Mode]].

* LoopholeAbuse: The Dragon Soul Stones prevent any Mega Digimon from getting near them, meaning the Royal Knights can't help. However, [=UlforceVeedramon=] points out that technically, Magnamon is only an Armor Digimon despite having the power of a Mega. So he has been searching for the Digimental of Miracles in the hopes that they can use it to get someone to Digivolve into Magnamon and hopefully be able to pass through the stone's barrier.

** As Armormon explains, the Dragon Soul Stone's barrier is meant to keep Megas from getting in, but it can't stop Megas from appearing ''within''. [[spoiler:He takes advantage of this to Mega Digivolve into Bombardramon. However, this is used against him when Paildramon manages to Mega Digivolve into Imperialdramon.]]

After suffering a humiliating loss, the two blame each other and effectively end their friendship. This grudge Carrie's over into the following chapter [[spoiler:until their adventure to get the Digimental of Friendship patches things up between them]].

** Downplayed; the player that Flash beats at the start of "Canyon Bombardment" responds to Flash "No hard feelings?" with a sad sigh of "Yeah. Whatever." before leaving the room.

** This happens again in the following chapter, "Like it Ore Not, The Hunt is On". Flash and Micro visit Datamon at the same time as Rarity, Fluttershy, and Pinkie, and he shows them two new battle gear he is working on. The boys want to scan a canon while the girls want the shield. Datamon sends them out to get some rare special pre so he can finish one of the gear, with the other needing to wait another month. This results in a race between the two groups to get the ore first. Ultimately, the boys save the girls from Landramon and work together to defeat it, and decide to let Datamon decide which gear to finish first. Ultimately though, they find a lot more ore than expected, with Datamon easily able to finish both gears, and the two groups deciding they should work together outside the stadiums from now on.
