The Lost Boys are a Sabbat pack from Vampire: The Masquerade
We already know that they are the inspiration for the Brujah clan in Vt M. But there's more than that: they are Brujah antitribu. They display a lot of typical Sabbat behaviours:
- They enjoy killing people. Camarilla does not do that because Humanity is their creed, only killing when it's necessary, not for the heck of it. The entire Santa Carla becomes a "murder capital" because of their presence: that's whan Sabbat does when it is present in a city.
- They live collectively in a single haven, drink blood from one bottle (vaulderie!), perform rites at a large bonfire.
- The whole "wild gang following orders of a secret elder, head vampire of the city" reeks of Sabbat. Therefore, Max is the archbishop of Santa Carla, and David the ductus of the pack.
- Aside from Brujah, one of the "boys" might be a Ravnos or Malkavian odd man out. That whole maggots and worms prank might be Chimerstry or Dementation.
Grandpa is a werewolf
At the start of the film he is introduced "playing dead", the end of the film reveals he knows about the vampires, he usually disappears at night, and he always has a constant stream of dead animals to stuff ...- Most likely Jossed if the comics are canon, considering the fact that he is revealed to be a half-vampire in the comics.
Grandpa is a retired (or fired) Watcher or hunter.
Sure, he knows about the vampires and he knows how to kill them. But he's really not in a position to do much or even really care unless they actively make a go at him and his. Then, all bets are off and he's allowed to start slaying.
- This could make him a pariah. He spends his years fighting the monsters, but as time takes its toll, he backs off and tries to stay apart from the dangers. Then his family enters the picture, and all bets are off.
- I think there's a lot of merit to this theory. He seems aware of exactly what is going on.
- It also would make sense that he's deliberately trying to keep his family away from his whole vampire hunting life, by acting as a typical old man.
