  • Creator's Favorite: Perez considered his Wonder Woman to be his proudest accomplishment in his comics career.
  • Chromosome Casting: The second Annual, published in 1989, had an exclusively female art team across all stories including Colleen Doran, Cynthia Martin, Carol Lay, Ramona Fradon, Trina Robbins, Barb Rausch, Jan Duursema and Cara Sherman Tereno & Leslie Sternbergh on pencils & inks, Julianna Ferriter, Tatjana Wood, Michele Wolfman, Shelley Eiber, Helen Vesik, Julia Lacquement and Adrienne Roy on color and Carrie Spiegle and Lois Buhalis on letters. While the writers and editors (Karen Berger and Art Young) were kept from the regular book they brought in this large female art team for the Annual.
  • Executive Meddling:
    • In a clear cut instance of Tropes Are Not Bad, editor Karen Berger was instrumental to the development of Perez's run, putting together the creative team and challenging old standards like the Amazons losing their immortality should a man step on their island among other things. Perez was incredibly grateful for her oversight:
I cannot overstate Karen’s contributions to the success of my run on the series. One of the most astute, intelligent, and far-thinking individuals that has ever graced this industry, tough, but fair, knowing when to lean in and when to back off, Karen is the gold standard by which I judge all editors. I cannot thank her enough for helping me through my first attempts at writing.
    • In an example that is generally agreed as bad, there's the meddling of Greg Rucka's run. All of it needed to be quickly ejected to line up with Infinite Crisis, which created a rift between Rucka and DC, which was only soothed by then-editor Dan DiDio promising Rucka the Wonder Woman: Earth One title, which is set in its own continuity... then he gave it to Grant Morrison instead and Rucka walked away from DC entirely.
  • In Memoriam: John Byrne's run has a dedication to the memory of Archie Goodwin in issue 135.
  • Milestone Celebration: Issue #200 was an extra-sized issue of 68 pages, celebrating the volume reaching 200 issues.
  • Promoted Fanboy: Phil Jimenez grew up a major fan of both Wonder Woman and George Perez. As a result his two year run the book consisted of many call-backs and picking up of dropped story lines/characters dating back to Perez's time on the book nearly a decade before. Jimenez also incorporated elements of the Lynda Carter show into the book (in fact, the very last issue of his run features an even bigger instance: it was co-written by Andy Mangels, a superfan who curates a museum completely dedicated to Wonder Woman merchandise).
  • Recycled Script:
    • So Wonder Woman meets an Amazon from a hidden battle loving civilization in Africa and that Amazon makes an oath to try and lead her people to a future of peace, are we talking about Nubia of the Floating Isle in the 1970s or Akila of Bana-Mighdall in the 1990s.
    • Artemis' introduction in Wonder Woman: The Contest is a rehash of an older story from the 70's. In that tale Diana was briefly replaced as Wonder Woman by an abrasive redheaded Amazon named Orana. Orana was Killed Off for Real the very next issue, allowing Diana to reclaim her costume and identity, so Artemis got a much better deal than her prototype.
  • Tuckerization:
  • What Could Have Been: Rucka had a number of arcs in progress that had been carefully foreshadowed and set up prior to Infinite Crisis destroying any chance of seeing them:
    • There was going to be an arc exploring Artemis (the goddess') disappearance and why Demeter seemed to have picked up Artie's portfolio.
    • Veronica Cale was finally going to get her masterstroke by manipulating the US into invading Themyscira, a plot point which had been very clearly set up with her dope of a senator boyfriend bowing to her every command, the US Navy's arrival to help with the disaster slowly turning into a blockade with Artemis and Philippus trying to convince the president to remove the military power staring down at their shores and the president refusing by insisting they hand over purple ray tech, which they won't due to its power source's devastating weapons grade potential. The seeds of this were apparently what inspired less subtle minds with no real interest in the core of Themysciran identity to later mandate the creation of the universally reviled "Amazons Attack".
