** Much of the fandom refuses to acknowledge the third ([[ScrewedbytheNetwork and final]]) season of the show, due to head writer Steve Marmel and the rest of the writing staff leaving the series at the end of season two. The result of this was creator Butch Hartman and slew of new writers [[StatusQuoisGod ignoring past character development]] and leaving several plot threads dangling, despite being fully aware it would be the last season. Even those who acknowledge the last season often ignore the finale episode "Phantom Planet", dismissing most of its moments as nonsensical, poorly executed, or just plain disappointing: from the group's (especially Sam's) callous reaction to [[spoiler:Danny giving up his powers]] to [[spoiler:Vlad seemingly being killed by a random asteroid]]. If a fan work does acknowledge Season 3 at all, they usually keep a few plot points, such as Danny developing [[AnIcePerson ice powers]] or the aftermath of "D-Stabilized" (the only widely-liked episode of the season), and ignore everything else. When the series eventually did see a continuation in the graphic novel ''ComicBook/DannyPhantomAGlitchInTime'', the comic ([[RunningTheAsylum which was written by a fan]]) would actually follow suit by ending with [[spoiler:most of season three's events undergoing a CosmicRetcon]].

YMMV cannot be inverted or played with. Being memed/iconic doesn't mean they consider it canon.

** Many fans hate the episode "Arthur's Big Hit", because of the [[HumiliationConga treatment]] Arthur gets after he (rather understandably) gets fed up with [[AnnoyingYoungerSibling D.W.]] and punches her. One infamous example of said treatment is Binky punching ''him'' for it and his parents expressing NoSympathy over that. That said, the infamous scene of [[SignatureScene Arthur punching D.W.]] became notoriously [[MemeticMutation memed to hell and back]] in the following years.

* Fans of ''WesternAnimation/{{Megamind}}'', which had become a CultClassic during the late 2010s, absolutely ''loathe'' the direct-to-streaming sequel ''WesternAnimation/MegamindVsTheDoomSyndicate'' and its follow-up TV show ''WesternAnimation/MegamindRules''. A number of changes fans hate include the worse, error-riddled animation (this film was produced by Dreamworks Animation Television, after all), the replacement of the entire original voice cast (especially the replacement of Creator/WillFerrell as the titular character), changing Minion's name to Ol' Chum (which was seen as an attempt not to overshadow [[Franchise/DespicableMe another certain type of minion]]), Megamind being {{flanderiz|ation}}ed and holding the {{Idiot|Ball}} and {{Jerkass Ball}}s, and the out-of-nowhere {{Retcon}} that the Doom Syndicate was Megamind's original villain team and that Machiavillain was Megamind's mentor (the original movie made it clear that Megamind had no friends aside from [[OnlyFriend Minion]] and that he learned to be evil in prison because he was raised by the inmates). Because of these confusing and polarizing changes (especially the last two), fans have written these two off as non-canon.

** A few bad episodes of the series would be ignored, with "Clumsy Luck", "A Hug for Grouchy", "The Smurfy Verdict" and "Chlorhyrdis' Lost Love" being the most notable examples. The reason these episodes are considered bad are because "Clumsy Luck" has Clumsy being made a social pariah for allegedly [[TheJinx being bad luck]], "A Hug for Grouchy" has Grouchy being made to hug someone despite him not liking hugs, "The Smurfy Verdict" has Brainy being [[TemporarilyExaggeratedTrait even more]] of an InsufferableGenius than usual, and "Chlorhyrids' Lost Love" has a DownerEnding.

In "Hoops", it's shown that everything [=GrandPat=] did as a kid was part of a TV show... which doesn't match up, because in "Patscals" he hates TV and outright says that even if it ''was'' around when he was a kid, he wouldn't have watched it because he was too busy playing with his friends. The [[SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments heartwarming ending]] of "Patscals", where Patrick comes to realize [=GrandPat=] had a cool childhood after all and tells him that real life adventures ''are'' more fun than TV, makes no sense when you consider this twist. ** The season eight finale "Meet the [=OddParents=]" is seen as another good ending point, as it has Timmy being able to happily interact with both his parents and his fairies, who get along perfectly. And while it ends with his parents having their minds wiped of the episode's events, they willingly consent to it, assured that Timmy is happy and safely protected by his fairies at all times. Season nine would bring in Sparky, Timmy's magical talking fairy dog who fans despised to point of him getting PutOnABus for the last season. Speaking of, the tenth and final season would then introduce a new girl named Chloe Carmichael, who Timmy had to share his fairies with; while definitely less hated than Sparky, fans still weren't amused by the creation of new major characters when much of the supporting cast who could have been fleshed out for such roles have not only been reduced to extras by this point, but some (like Trixie and Tootie) hadn't made appearances for seasons.

** ''The Late Philip J. Fry'', though widely regarded as a well-written episode (it did win an Emmy Award, after all), is controversial because of the inference that, with the exception of Fry, Bender, and Prof. Farnsworth, the rest of the characters we see from then on are not the original ones we've grown to love, but duplicates from another iteration of the universe, and the original Leela lived a long and lonely life without Fry. The somewhat ambiguous nature of time travel in the show makes different interpretations possible.

** There are several fans who don't consider anything past Season 1 canon. To a lesser extent, there are those who won't accept anything past the three-episode pilot.
[[WesternAnimation/HouseOfBloos pilot movie]].
** It is '''''not''''' a good idea to mention the words, "Everyone "[[Recap/FostersHomeForImaginaryFriendsS2E2WhereTheresAWiltEveryoneKnowsBendy Everyone Knows It's Bendy", Bendy]]", which introduces [[TheScrappy Bendy]], who despite spending all of his screen-time getting Bloo, Wilt, Eduardo and Coco in trouble, [[KarmaHoudini he gets off scot-free for his actions]]. Even people who aren't fans of the series hate this episode.
