Rather than Alice and Bob, I like to use a different array of hypothetical characters, just for variety. I'll usually go with Mary and Spencer for generic examples, but a Loveable Rogue character will be Damien, the Sitcom Arch-Nemesis is Logan, the Love Interest is Wendy, and the Cultured Warrior is Lance. I also can't resist a good Punny Name or inventing one that fits the trope better.
