A complete mess of a movie in dire need of a Director's cut

This movie really needs a recut. The mess that it is almost resembles Justice League in that it was meant to be a darker, more somber movie, but the higher-ups wanted something more crowdpleasing and resembling other successes. For both cases, that's the original Avengers movie. Notice absence of scenes from the trailers that were meant to hint at a more serious movie. Notice the greater presence of Alan Silvestri's original score in a movie crediting both Danny Elfman and Brian Tyler, the latter's score relegated to being barely noticeable background music. (Note that Tyler was meant to be the sole composer of the movie.) Notice the short runtime of 143 minutes that tries to fit in build-up for future movies that ended up being ignored. (Thanos saying "I'll do it myself"? He sits on his ass until Thor Ragnarok happens. Thor fails at finding the Infinity Stones and quips about it.) All signs of something they could have been but weren't thanks to an overbearing executive committee that's not helped by a creative mind in need of a better leash.

Maybe someday we will get a proper Director's cut of Age of Ultron. I doubt that day will ever come since nobody is clamoring for one unlike the Snyder cut.
