This series is actually quite funny. While yes, several characters are pretty cruel, most of them are at least funny with their assholism. RM does a good job of keeping his Author Avatar out of Gary Stu territory, the humor is usually funny (if a little disgusting at times), and the Whole Plot Reference episodes are well-handled. In fact, this fanfic is a primary influence on my first fanfic, [1]. The fact that we have a similar taste in TV, video games and comedy helps.
