Quiz Nanairo Dreams: Review

A unique concept - a meteor falls from the skies, it shatters into eight pieces and Pixie, the one that was residing inside the fragment that smacked your face, warns you that Godiva, the God Of Makai, will return unless stopped.

After an onslaught of question chosen among 6000 available, you have to either win the heart of one of the seven girls available and defeat Godiva, sealing it back to the Makai dimension.

Every turn, a roulette is played and relative to which number (up to a maximum of 6), you move on the board. Beware to not choose the icon with the face of the blue-haired succubus, otherwise she will stalk you and waste SIX of your days (console versions of the game can justify an eager selection of such icon to undertake her console exclusive story-path).

Meeting any of the girls and enemies equals to answering to answers on various topics that you can either choose or not. In the Arcade version, two topics are only available if a 2nd player is in.

Anime, games, manga, movies, culture, sports, politics, language, and so forth: there is everything for anyone, with four possible answers and only one correct for any inquiry.

99% of the questions are clearly in Japanese, but there are some of them written in an amusing slightly broken English.

You have two health meters: health (reach 0, you lose completely) or cards (maximum 5 available from the start of the game, lose them you have to insert another credite).

Some of the characters are very stereotyped, however there are some of them (mostly Linz and Saki) which are unique in both appearance and commital (one being a succubus, the other being a teenager Earth Defense Warrior!).

The game is a unique hybrid of dating-sim and quiz game, with the previous component being extremely limited, but offering A LOT of replayability, as 7 girls (plus 2 secret ones in the console versions) means that there are a lot of diffent point-of-views to unearth, with each one of them having a differnt ending - some of them are funny as well, mirroring well the personality of the girl that has been conquered, while others are more out-of-character endings.

Definitively an excellent product, despite being curtailed to the era it was produced, as now such kind of games are not played by most of the gamers.

Notable that the game has also a CD drama and a soundtrack CD with arranged tracks.
