I've noticed some entries on here that feel off, mostly due to the reception of the game/characters that seem to treat the game as "unpopular" at first, but being "better nowadays".

The Character Perception Evolution entry for Roy doesn't make sense to me. Roy has been popular since he appeared in melee, and while his game has not been localized, people have consistently praised him and liked him even with his gameplay issues at times. He's still immensely popular, so I don't know how he's gone from "being viewed as bad" to now "people like him", when he's always been massively popular. The fact he won the first CYL in Heroes alongside Ike, Lucina, and Lyn without his game ever been localized kinda speaks for itself that he's not changed in perception amongst the general playerbase.

If anything, people seem to have the opposite view, in that he's gotten more a more critical analysis from people as time went on, and isn't viewed in the same overwhelmingly positive light (but still massively popular) as before.

For Vindicated by History: Since the game never got localized, it doesn't have the same clear indication of quality like later games do. But from my understanding it was very well received, and had a hugely positive view across the internet before the series became popular. Its in more recent years as the series became popular that people seem to be more critical of its design. The only way I could see it being BYH is if it wasn't popular when it came out when accounting for its lack of world wide release, but the game doesn't appear to have been unpopular amongst the community or in Japan.

I have heard secondhand that it was not particularly well received by English language fans after fire emblem seven on boarded a bunch of us with the first official localization, and that it generally has a reputation of being more popular in Japan, as a back to basics title, than overseas.

I don't know then if VBH fits it then with that in mind. It doesn't seem like it really was vindicated when it never super popular or even initially panned to begin with.

I don’t know enough about it to speak authoritatively, I’ve just gotten the impression that it’s reputation in the west basically only exists in terminally online circles because it never got an official localization and was never quite popular enough for a full revival. In those circles, it is not as criticized as it used to be? In my mind that still just counts as Americans hate tingle though

I'm fine leaving Americans Hate Tingle. It just seems to me that the page has a lot of "The game was not super popular when it came out but now is better received!" when I don't find any real evidence or strong arguments from the entries to support that.

Anyway, for the record, that round of edits a bit ago was me trying to address your concerns.

No worries! I figured it was that. I just didn't want to make a big edit or anything initially until things were given more time for people to weigh in on.
