Oh, I didn't remember Cranky being playable in Barrel Blast, my bad.
As for Kiddy Kong, it's not that people wanted Kiddy Kong. They just believed he'd be playable in Tropical Freeze (obviously not something they wanted to see happen).
In the end, it's a matter of likeliness, not desire. Cranky's only playable appearance was in a spin-off, and almost nobody thought he'd be playable in a mainline DKC game. There lies the difference.

Would Stickerbrush Symphony be considered a wasted song, since it plays for a very short segment, and had the potential to be used in the level Bramble Scramble. Would it also be a base breaker since there are people who complain that Stickerbrush Symphony should've been the song for the level Bramble Scramble, and those who like the new song?
