No... it's nowhere near as bad as the Crapsack World of Termina, the Bad Future in Ocarina of Time, or even the Dark World of Ltt P. Heck, even Wind Waker opens with the legend talking about how no hero showed up and almost everyone died.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.Yeah you do have a point, but then again, with the exception of Majora's Mask, the other games didn't have a demon/monster worshiping cult. And even then the cult in Majora's Mask was only mentioned, not seen. And let's not forget the inhabitants of Lorule: many of them are mean, rude, angry, sad bitter, and insanely twisted, unlike the citizens of Hyrule—or even Termina, for that matter—who are generally cheerful and happy-go-lucky.
It's really dark if you think about it too hard, but it's presented in a very cartoonish and lighthearted way. It's more of one massive fridge horror than the whole game being darker and edgier, I'd say.
But is he a CUTE evil overlord? How is Osfala having the Sand Rod Story and Gameplay Separation?
If this is referring to the fact that the Sand Rod is utterly useless in that dungeon, I believe it's actually an enforcement of how out of touch Osfala is. As a sage, he'd have other ways of getting through the Eastern Palace and probably only realized at the end "oh crap, this thing is useless".
Would it be appropriate to consider this game one the more Darker and Edgier games in the series? I ask that because of one thing: Lorule.
