Oddly enough, the story of Sonic Rush is VERY similar to that of the first two episodes of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
You've got an antisocial character who's so focused on her mission that she doesn't want to try and make friends(somewhat more justified in Blaze's case than in Twilight Sparkle's, however), a bunch of colorful (personality-wise and visually) characters who try to get her to open up, a villain who drains power from the deus-ex-machina items (Chaos Emeralds / Elements of Harmony), and guess what restores said items to their full power? Friendship.
The only major difference is that in the end, Blaze leaves for her world, having fully learned her lesson, while Twilight Sparkle stays and learns more about friendship. To be fair, though, a Sonic game about learning friendship would be kind of dumb.
