Is there a real reason for this article or at least the bulk of it? "Incidentally, anyone looking for a nuanced and balanced political discussion of Palin's influence in America is on the wrong wiki." Ok, then why is this *even on a useful notes page?*

I can understand nad accept the need to chronicle the pop culture references, but the idea that this somehow means we should completely ignore any value a politician has had or the truth flies in the face of precedent and common sense, and is against what the Useful Notes section was meant for.

I know this is going to be flame bait, and that level headed and bi-partisan editorship will help, but as it is this seems too willfully limited.

I think the problem is that frankly, there really isn't much that could be added )barring a more in-depth biographical summary) that wouldn't end up being pure flame bait. Palin's very much a... controversial figure, and I, for one, don't know anyone who could avoid adding some of their own views when describing hers. All in all, it'd probably end up more trouble than it's worth.

Deleted reference to "Troopergate" because that was a Bill Clinton scandal.

Very classy, responding to a post from over a year ago just to call someone a name. Good job.

I'd like to see a WMG for Sarah Palin. I have a theory myself...

Sometimes I wonder if both sides in the last election were just trying to throw the election...maybe because they knew whoever won would have to deal with what we're now dealing with, aka "George Bush's Mess" One side comes up with a half-black man from Hawaii with a Muslim name, the other side comes up with an old white man born out of the country and backs him up with a woman from the OTHER US State that's never considered a 'state' (hell, even the US Military consider Hawaii and Alaska to be 'overseas' assignments), Alaska. And that's just their colors and genders, never mind their relative cluefulness.

I rewrote this page so that it would be more about tropes and less about the controversy around Palin. I think if we can have a George W Bush page that's functional, there's really no excuse for us to pussyfoot around the Palin one.

Whoever is trying to keep the page neutral... I seriously pray for you.

...? I don't get it, the article seems both fair and concise to me (though admittedly I'm no one important). Why would you want to cut out the article?

Tut tut. You're no more or less important than any of the rest of us. All basic editors of the wiki are equal, dontchanow comrade?

I nominated for deletion because this wiki isn't about being fair and concise, it's about the tropes, and this article is predominately concerned with Palin's political career as opposed to how she appears in media. There's little point in having a page that only nominally serves the wiki's basic functions whilst virtually daring people to get into a stupid fight over editing it. It's the reason why we don't have a page about Barack Obama.

Evidently, the Cut Master who denied my request disagrees. It would have been nice to get an explanation, but eh. Maybe I'll overhaul this page some day to actually be about the tropes Sarah Palin uses, that is, if I can overcome my gag reflex about having to think about her long enough to finish the job.

We do have a page for Barack Obama. And for all the other presidents.

Curse his secret Muslim name!

But anyway, yeah, that page is a good example of how you're supposed to do pages about political figures. Almost everything in that page is about his relation to tropes, nearly none of it is about his personal politics or cult of personality. It wouldn't have occurred to me to bring up my (obviously inaccurate) memories of wiki policy discussion regarding political figures if that's what the Sarah Palin page looked like.
