The current season began w/ Molly pretty much undergoing such a change when her nervous breakdown has her leaving the classroom through the window while the class was taking a test & quitting afterwards to become a writer. Since then she's been in a few episodes having adventures to inspire her writing, like riding along on Mike's beat, accompanying Victoria at the funeral parlor, or pushing forklifts at Vince's warehouse.
