Is there a more fitting, but basically identical, trope that does fit?
- I'd say Gun fits because Oscar wasn't intending to create an entrance at the time.
- But you know these tropes/the scene in question better than me.
- Call-Back could fit?

Call-Back does sound like a good option to use.
If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.
Chekhov's Gun entry. It's been removed once before with an edit reason and re-added without any edit reason.
The hole Oscar produced isn't an insignificant moment, which is what's required for this trope to be in effect. It was the very first time he used Ozpin's magic, which was itself a significant moment. And the moment it happened, the fandom immediately speculated that it would be used in Volume 8 to get the heroes into the Vault. So, the fandom had that expectation from the outset.
Chekhov's Gun needs to be something that appears to be insignificant and which is introduced in an insignificant way to set-up the surprise of coming back to it in a meaningful way later on. Anything that's introduced with great significance, which creates an expectation of further significance later on, is not this trope.
