"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanAlthough my example in the "Real Life" section about Depression/Mental Illness was removed, I am going to re-add it for the following reasons: The person who removed it claimed that mental illness can't count as "evil" because it is not sentient, but the "Ultimate Evil" trope does not require that it be, rather, that it be an unseen force of corruption and destruction, emphasis on the word "Unseen". The actual useful notes pages for several mental illnesses use tropes which are inherently associated with evil, such as evil is deathly cold.
Does anyone think this trope should be renamed? With Ultimate Evil, it could be confused for God of Evil or Big Bad.
Hide / Show RepliesAgreed in full. It seems like it should mean the force behind all the evil and bad stuff in a setting but that's not the case.
" Just after the stoic Doc Savage escapes through the entrance of a strange underground cavern he looks back to see somethingor SOMEONE reaching out to him and screams for the first time in his life. "
Can I get some more context on it? Perhaps a story name?
Radda radda. To follow up on the "sometimes, Ultimate Evil should be revealed as someone who LOOKS completely normal" thread from the old talk page: it looks like the idea's been split between Humanoid Abomination and They Look Just Like Everyone Else!.
