I like how the 'in real life' bit in the describe trope here section gets interjected by another 'in real life' bit. Brilliant. I have no idea how to go about fixing it
Edited by 87.113.237.6 Do what the clock does, keep going. Hide / Show RepliesI would just yank it altogether. And move anything salvageable to the Real Life section.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThanks for your unbiased notes on actual commissars.
I would like to point out that the famed commissar rank disappeared as early as 1942. Most commissars remained, of course, but were renamed as zampolits (politicalcounseling deputy to the CO), answered to CO and held no authority over troops in combat (though often took command if CO was killed) - that is, exactly what you say, but since 1942.
The position itself survived to this day, in the form of "counseling officer", but is most often unfilled or manned by conscript officers (students who received officer rank in the civilian university). Maybe it's better if we had commissars - psychological climate in Russian army is largely shitty.
