Kelly in The Orville becomes the object of worship for a pre-interstellar civilization after she heals a girl with medical technology. Her initial attempt to get one of the leaders of her "faith" to see the truth fails when he gets murdered by an underling, but they eventually grow out of it on their own.

This Troper knows of at least one case of this in Real Life—-John Nicholson, a piously Christian soldier in pre-Mutiny India, had such a Bad Ass reputation that a cult formed around him, much to his horror.
