So I've noticed on the meta page that someone has spammed "to put it one way, (blank) can be seen as a red oni and blank can be seen as a blue oni" underneath examples that say the exact same thing but shorter (Blank is red, blank is blue). Not only is it extremely unnecessary and redundant, but I notice it seems to be mimicking what I wrote on Marvel and DC ("To put it one way, Marvel can be looked at as a Blue Oni Universe with Red Oni characters and DC vice versa"). I know me and this other person who wrote on Marvel and DC disagreed on which was which initially (which led me to include that third comparison/example as a compromise), but if this is what I think it is, that is extremely petty. Regardless all these redundant second examples need to be deleted. They are literally formatted like this:
- This show (Red) vs. This show (Blue).
- To put it one way, This show can be looked at as a Red Oni show, and this show can be looked at as a Blue Oni show.
You see what I mean?

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanHow about Malcolm X (red) and Martin Luther King Jr (blue) for real life?
I think we need to cut down on a few examples of this trope: it seems anyone can add any introvert/extrovert duo (or any duo, period, provided they have complimentary personalities), regardless of whether they're Color-Coded for Your Convenience. For instance, Apple Jack and Big Macintosh from My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic are treated as an inversion (although it's likely they weren't intended to be any kind of play on this trope to begin with, since they are orange and red, respectively). Can we try to clean up examples?
Hide / Show RepliesActual color of the character's garb has nothing to do with the trope. If the color motif is used, its role is symbolic in nature.
Lots of the examples are just people who happen to be red and blue, without any relevant personality traits. (One example simply points out that the game Ikaruga uses alternating red and blue energy blasts. *Facepalm*)
Surely that's missing the point, and should be pruned? I won't dive in and start deleting things myself, because I'm a new troper.
Hide / Show RepliesThere's plenty of other examples that have two people with different personalities, but they aren't red and blue, or even differently colored at all (for example, America and Canada, Apple Jack and Big Macintosh, etc.). Obviously, if it's some variant of red/blue, it can still work, but those examples aren't even that! We need to prune, definitely.
Red/Blue/Green
First off your basic Oni description omits the female Oni of which Urusei Yatsura is almost not a subversion.
Second the three magical girls go red/blue/green even more than red/blue guys show up. (And it ain't Freudian Trio because it's not coming from Western roots.)
A quick list: PPG, MKR, Project A-ko, EVA, FLCL, OMG, etc.
As soon as you see either the elemental power, appearance or personality of one of these girls you can quickly guess the other two attributes.
"Show us the Galaxy Warp."It says I can't edit the page. I wanted to add some examples I beleive would be helpful to it. Is this a glitch in this system?
He who has a why to live can bear almost any how -Neitzsche (I know) Hide / Show RepliesSame here. I can't add to the Troper Tales page, and I've got an example I'd like to put in! Someone help, for I have no imput and I must scream!
Just to add a little to the kingdom hearts Red oni Blue oni I believe, Sora as Red to Riku as Blue, Terra as Red to Aqua Blue should be touched upon just my opinion but I'm sure to most fans of the series those stand out as obvious too.
I'm a red oni and my young sister Faith is a blue oni.
