Why is every instance of the word "force" replaced with "horse"? I thought it was something wrong with my computer but it's only this page.
Hide / Show RepliesA Troper was using a browser plugin that changes every instance of a word to another (people find it funny for some reason) while editing. The usual thing to do is revert the changes and report who ever was using the plugin to the Mods.

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanHm, so is it Lovecraft Lite if the protagonist(s) succeed in any form of this? Or does it have to be a clear win, lets go have a smoothie etc.?
For example, if the heroes triumph over the eldrich abomination, but say, they all lose their minds, or something else obviously horrifying occurs, but for the most part humanity and the world is saved, is this Lovecraft Lite, or just Cosmic Horror?
What if the tone itself is indeed hopeless and depressing, but the heroes still win, does that count?
I think we should add a caveat to the trope description about the fact that, due to how Cosmic Horror works, some settings can actually count as both, since while they may be beatable and/or quiescent for the time being, everyone's still screwed When the Planets Align; in other words, at the time the story takes place it may be Lovecraft Lite, but it will revert to actual undiluted Cosmic Horror Story territory, and there's probably nobody who can do anything about it. What do you think?
I know this: if life is illusion, then I am no less an illusion, and being thus, the illusion is real to me. Hide / Show RepliesThat could work... I'm not sure if I have the authority to say it's OK, though.

I hate this trope so much. Go full Cosmic Horror Story or go home!
