Doesn't the Literature section of this trope read a bit funny? -Inverted -Inverted -Inverted -Straight -Inverted -Gender-flipped -Gender-flipped -Straight -Gender-flipped -Doesn't fit the trope
I thought this was the Lesbian Vampire trope page. Shouldn't male examples go in their own page? Like Gay Vampire or something like that. Also, we could fill sections on that page with Lesbian Vampire examples, calling them inversions or gender-flipped versions of the Gay Vampire trope.
Edited by Lecarde Hide / Show RepliesI agree. Just make a Spear Counterpart page a la the Hot Mom/Hot Dad or Mama Bear/Papa Wolf tropes; seems like there'd be enough examples to justify it, and the two vampire-types in question are different enough that would probably make separate tropes worth it.
Male examples don't belong here I agree.
But I do think Females count whether their Bi or not.
Besides being Female Vampires who are sexually attracted to Women, nothing else universally unites the Trope. Some are Exploitation films, and some are romances written for actual Lesbians.
It's pointless to ever say "Technically Bisexual" the origin of the term Lesbian refereed to a Bisexual, and this Trope exists in Vampire Fiction because Vampires don't have orientation at all. Even Carmilla herself has been depicted with some male lovers.

Let's just say and leave it at that.Baron Vordonberg's ancestor had been a male Lover of her's. In the original story.
Whatever the term 'lesbian' referred to in its beginnings, it isn't a synonym to 'bisexual' now. I don't think there's a problem; or do I somehow misunderstand you?
Regarding Carmilla — strictly speaking, we can't know her preference. That Baron Vordenburg's ancestor was in love with her doesn't mean he also was her lover in practice. We don't know if she returned his love. What is clear is that, as a vampire, she exclusively sucks blood from women — whatever that means.
Let's just say and leave it at that.Synonym now, I prefer to see Lesbian as a term for any Woman who liked Woman, regardless of how they relate to men.
Vordenberg's ancestor is described as a "Favored lover" of Micralla's.
The description of Laura's attacks, has enough there that I'm pretty confident Carmilla was also fingering her as she drank from her.
Point is, especially in the context of this trope, a Vampiress being Bisexual has the same basic intended effect.

Embrace of the Vampire has Lesbian scenes, but not involving any Vampires.
